She nestled in his broad embrace, looking up at his face, which had grown stubble after a long day’s hustle. Instead of looking disheveled, it made him appear even more masculine. To Gu Qili, love cast a veil over her eyes; everything about Mu Shuoqian seed perfect.

Unable to resist, she reached out and gently rubbed his stubble. It was prickly and ticklish, which made her laugh and ask, "Is shaving every day a hassle?"

Mu Shuoqian did not answer, suddenly stopping in his tracks with his eyes narrowing slightly.

Following his gaze, Gu Qili saw soone sitting on the sofa, nonchalantly reading a magazine. Upon their entrance, the figure only lifted their head symbolically, casually turned a page, and comnted indifferently, "You’re back."

"How did you get in?" Mu Shuoqian asked, his eyes dangerously narrowed.

Luo Shangqing set down the magazine, having made himself a pot of tea at so point, took a sip, and then leisurely replied, "I don’t like standing outside waiting, so I found a locksmith."

Mu Shuoqian: "..."

"Miss Gu, would you like so tea?"

Suddenly feeling embarrassed, Gu Qili pushed against Mu Shuoqian’s chest and whispered, "Put down."

However, Mu Shuoqian had no intention of letting go, but instead addressed the unexpected guest, "Since you’re here, get to work."

After saying this, he carried Gu Qili to her bedroom.

In reality, her injury had been checked many tis at the hospital, and there was even a doctor accompanying her on the plane. But Mu Shuoqian didn’t trust these people and had insisted on calling Luo Shangqing again.

Gu Qili felt it was an overreaction. Although she had been shot, the attacker hadn’t intended to kill. The bullet wasn’t very powerful, and she had only sustained a flesh wound. Having healed for so ti now, the pain wasn’t as intense, and there really was no need for further examinations.

But Gu Qili didn’t have the heart to reject his goodwill and complied with the check-up.

After inspecting Gu Qili’s wound, Luo Shangqing left with Mu Shuoqian.

The two n stood in the corridor, one on each side, smoking cigarettes.

Luo Shangqing took a drag and said, "I heard from Ah Zhan, you wouldn’t even let him touch the girl’s hand, so how co you allowed to examine her?"

Mu Shuoqian gave him a cold glance: "I don’t consider you a man."

"Indeed, in our eyes as doctors, there are only patients, not genders."

"Talk business."

"It’s just a flesh wound, nothing serious. Moreover, Miss Gu is young and heals quickly. It won’t be long before she completely recovers."

After Luo Shangqing finished speaking, he suddenly noticed Mu Shuoqian’s cold gaze sending shivers down his spine. He didn’t understand what he had said wrong, looking utterly baffled.

Mu Shuoqian forcefully extinguished his cigarette, and almost fiercely interrogated, "Are you calling old?"

Luo Shangqing: "..."

Had he implied that? His words hadn’t ntioned Mu Shuoqian at all. How did he arrive at that conclusion?

After a mont of thought, he suddenly realized and couldn’t help but laugh.

"So you really care about being seen as an old cow eating tender grass."

Mu Shuoqian glared at him: "Looking for trouble."

Unafraid, Luo Shangqing playfully patted his shoulder: "You really look 25, trust ."

Having been bedridden for two days, Gu Qili was almost bored to death. Just as she was texting Mickey on WeChat, Mu Shuoqian ca in, holding a magazine that she had previously used to help him pick out clothes. A new issue already?

Mu Shuoqian handed her the magazine: "Pick a few items based on your taste."

Gu Qili liked this task and imdiately accepted it with joy.

As she flipped through the magazine, she suddenly heard Mu Shuoqian awkwardly ask: "How old do I look to you?"

Gu Qili looked up, puzzled by his question, but still took a mont to study him, squinted her eyes with a smile, and said: "25."

He nodded, said nothing more, and walked away.

She wasn’t sure if she had seen it wrong, but it seed like there was a beautiful, beaming smile on his face when he turned around.

It must have been a mistake. Such an expression would never appear on Mu Shuoqian’s face.

Gu Qili took a week to recover from her injury, and as Luo Shangqing had said, she healed quickly because she was young.

She hadn’t attended classes for two weeks; the sester wasn’t busy, and many people had gone for internships. She had persisted in heading to school amidst exam preparations and thesis work.

Her shoulder wound had only half healed, but she still needed to go to school.

Early in the morning, Yuan Yi brought breakfast. He had delivered three als a day during these tis.

"Brother Yuan, you don’t need to bring food tomorrow. I’ve recovered enough to cook for myself."

The injury was on her left shoulder, which didn’t affect her much.

Yuan Yi hurriedly glanced at Mu Shuoqian’s reaction. Setting down the newspaper he was reading and neatly folding it into a square, he put it aside, took the breakfast box, and started setting the table for her. "No," he said.

Gu Qili gently moved her injured shoulder, "Look, I can...".

Attempting to prove that she was really okay only elicited a fierce glare from Mu Shuoqian: "Gu Qili, try moving again."

Feeling his genuine anger, Gu Qili obediently picked up her spoon to eat, not daring to bring up cooking again.

"There’s a job recruitnt fair at our school today from Grand Lisboa. Are you going?" Gu Qili asked him, full of excitent, with a spoon in her mouth.

Without even lifting his eyelids, Mu Shuoqian slowly sipped his porridge and, after a while, answered, "I won’t be going."

"I see." Gu Qili lowered her eyes, hiding a complex emotion, "Then you get on with your work."

Mu Shuoqian looked at her, sensing she might have wanted to say sothing, but when she remained silent, he didn’t probe any further. They quietly and peacefully ate their breakfast.
