Zhong Li looked at Qi Weidong, she didn’t want to delay for a mont and just wanted to quickly find out if she was really his daughter: "No need, there’s nothing wrong with my foot, let’s go ahead and do the test first."
Since Zhong Li said so, Qi Weidong could only nod in agreent.
Together, they all went to the hospital’s testing departnt. After the doctor collected their DNA samples, they were told to go ho and wait for the results, which would be out in two days.
While they were drawing blood, Zhong Li glanced at Qi Weidong sitting next to her, her heart nervously in her throat. These few drops of blood were the key to determining if they were father and daughter.
After leaving the hospital, Qi i asked Zhong Li for her phone number and also gave her their numbers.
Qi Weidong stood at the hospital entrance, watching Zhong Li and Gu Nanxi’s car disappear around the corner before getting into his own car.
......
Back ho, Gu Nanxi placed Zhong Li on the sofa: "You sit here for a mont, I’ll get so ice from the fridge to help reduce the swelling."
Zhong Li nodded and casually grabbed a pillow to hug: "Nancy, do you think he could be my dad? If he is my dad, why didn’t my mom co with him?"
"Don’t overthink it, the results will be out in two days, and we’ll know then."
Gu Nanxi opened the fridge door, took out so ice, sealed it in a plastic bag, wrapped it with a towel, and walked to the living room: "Stretch out your foot."
Zhong Li obediently placed her foot on Gu Nanxi’s leg, and when the ice touched her ankle, she winced in pain.
"Did that hurt? I’ll be gentler."
Zhong Li responded with a "hmm" and then rested her head against the back of the sofa. Now her mind was full of the DNA test, wildly guessing whether she was actually Qi Weidong’s daughter.
After Gu Nanxi finished applying the ice, she took out the dicine prescribed by the doctor from the plastic bag and sprayed it on Zhong Li’s ankle: "There’s nothing left in the fridge. I’ll go to the supermarket for so vegetables and fruit. You stay here and don’t move around."
Zhong Li nodded: "Go ahead, I’m fine."
Gu Nanxi poured a glass of water for Zhong Li and placed it on the coffee table in the living room, changed shoes, and left.
Leaning against the sofa, regardless of whether Qi Weidong was her biological father, Zhong Li wanted to tell Han Xi. She reached for her phone on the coffee table, but just as she was about to dial, Han Xi called in.
Han Xi, who was supposed to be off today, had been called back to the hospital for a surgery. She had just co out of the operating room, exhausted, but concerned about Zhong Li’s foot injury, so she called to check in.
"Sis, how’s your foot injury, is it serious?" Han Xi pushed open her office door and poured herself a glass of water.
"The doctor said I didn’t injure the bone, just need to rest for a few days until the swelling goes down."
"Oh, then I’m relieved."
Zhong Li’s left hand fingers unconsciously fidgeted a bit before speaking again: "Xiao Xi, today I saved a kid in the mall. The mom said I might be her brother’s daughter, and we went to the hospital for a paternity test."
"Really? Does that an you may have found your biological parents? That’s wonderful."
Han Xi could empathize with how Zhong Li must be feeling, rembering her own reunion with Song Mingyuan and Song Yan. She guessed Zhong Li was feeling the sa anticipation she had felt back then.
