"Let’s take the stairs."

The repairman packed up his tools and stood up from the ground: "We just inspected the elevator yesterday. It’s impossible for it to malfunction just like that. This is the first ti such a phenonon has occurred."

Gu Nanxi narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at the repairman: "Are you certain it was just repaired yesterday?"

"How could I possibly get that wrong?"

Zhong Li seed to have noticed sothing and spoke with concern: "Do you think soone deliberately..."

"Let’s go ho and talk about it first."

"Okay." Zhong Li supported Gu Nanxi as they headed toward the stairwell.

Once they returned ho, Zhong Li poured Gu Nanxi a glass of water: "Drink so water first, then lie down for a while. If you still feel uncomfortable, we must go to the hospital."

Gu Nanxi took the glass and drank a few sips, then lay weakly on the bed.

Zhong Li leaned over and tucked him in: "I’ll be in the living room outside. If you feel uncomfortable, just call ."

Gu Nanxi grabbed Zhong Li’s wrist and used a bit of force to pull her into his arms: "Don’t go; just stay here with ."

"I won’t go, but... can you release first?"

"Just let hold you for a while."

Gu Nanxi’s voice was still weak, and Zhong Li was worried that struggling might hurt him, so she let him hold her like that.

Without realizing it, Zhong Li drifted off to sleep, while Gu Nanxi watched her in his arms, a faint smile on his pale face.

.....

The next morning, Zhong Li opened her sleepy eyes to find Gu Nanxi’s captivating features staring back at her.

Gu Nanxi happened to be looking at her too, and their gazes t in the air. Embarrassed, Zhong Li quickly pulled away: "Well... are you feeling better?"

Gu Nanxi sat up in bed: "I’m still a bit dizzy and feel weak."

"Then we should quickly go to the hospital for a checkup. I’ll go back to change clothes first, and you should pack up quickly too." With that, Zhong Li lifted the quilt and got out of bed.

Gu Nanxi looked at Zhong Li’s worried expression, a smile playing at the edges of his profound eyes and brows. In fact, he was already fine; he just wanted an excuse to keep her there with him.

"No need to go to the hospital. Could you make so porridge? I’m hungry."

Zhong Li furrowed her brows as she looked at him, thinking he really didn’t take his health seriously: "If you’re feeling unwell, you should go to the hospital for a checkup. You were really frightening last night."

"Actually, I have claustrophobia, especially in complete darkness."

If the repairman had co any later yesterday, it would have been hard for him to hold on, possibly even leading to a life-threatening situation.

"Keep this a secret, or soone might exploit it and try to kill ."

This matter was only known to Gu Nanxi’s parents, and...

Zhong Li sat on the edge of the bed, recalling the words the repairman said yesterday. He ntioned the elevator was just repaired and shouldn’t malfunction. Could it be soone sched to create an accident intending to kill Gu Nanxi?

"Have you offended anyone, or does soone else know about your condition?" Zhong Li suddenly felt frightened.

Gu Nanxi’s mouth curled into a smile as he looked at Zhong Li: "Don’t worry, I’ll protect myself. I’m hungry."

"Alright, I’ll go make breakfast for you."

Zhong Li got up from the bed and headed straight to the kitchen.

Ten minutes later, Zhong Li finished cooking the porridge and also made fried eggs and sandwiches: "Go ahead and eat. I’m going back to change clothes and then head to work."
