Previously, I had investigated Liao Tingxiao but never imagined he was the person Han Xi rescued in the mall that day, and instinctively, Lu Jinghan felt Liao Tingxiao was special to Han Xi.
"Jing Han, how did you co up here?" Han Xi straightened up and smiled lightly as she approached Lu Jinghan.
"You left your phone in my car."
Lu Jinghan handed the phone to Han Xi, casually brushing her long hair.
Liao Tingxiao tidied his clothes and stood up from the sofa: "Mr. Lu, I’d like to treat you and Han Xi to dinner tonight to thank you for saving ."
"Sure." Lu Jinghan held Han Xi’s hand and agreed readily.
"See you at 7 p.m. at Jinhai Club."
Lu Jinghan nodded: "Mr. Liao, is there anything else?"
"Then I won’t disturb you two, I’ll take my leave now."
After the office door closed, Lu Jinghan looked at Han Xi sowhat sourly: "You were very close to him just now."
"I’m in close contact with patients like this every day. I was just helping him check his wound, Mr. Lu, you’re overthinking it."
Han Xi lightly t his gaze with her clear eyes, a sweet smile on her lips.
"Just don’t be alone with this person."
Han Xi obediently nodded: "I understand, Mr. Lu, you should hurry to work."
Lu Jinghan wrapped his arms around Han Xi’s waist and caught her off guard with a kiss. Their soft lips t, and their saliva mingled.
Han Xi’s body was forced to lean back, her small hands tightly clutching his collar. The quiet room was filled with the audible sound of their kiss.
It wasn’t until Han Xi seed unable to breathe that Lu Jinghan released his thin lips.
Han Xi held her heaving chest, her face flushed as she looked at Lu Jinghan: "This is a hospital, why did you suddenly kiss ?"
"I wanted to kiss you, I couldn’t help it."
Han Xi’s cheeks turned even redder at Lu Jinghan’s sweet words, like ripe cherries.
Lu Jinghan affectionately wiped away the moisture from Han Xi’s lips: "I’m heading back to the company now, I’ll pick you up after work tonight."
"Okay, drive safely."
After watching Lu Jinghan leave, Han Xi cald her breath slightly before heading to the ward.
Just after completing her rounds, Han Xi was called away by a nurse who said a young girl had jumped off a building at school in a suicide attempt, and her condition was critical, needing imdiate cranial surgery.
Han Xi and the nurse hurried into the elevator, and by the ti they reached the operating room, the girl had already been taken inside.
Han Xi changed her clothes and entered the operating room.
In the hallway, the girl’s mother was crying uncontrollably, distraught that such a good child of theirs had been suffering daily school bullying, sothing they, as parents, were completely unaware of.
The principal and teachers continually apologized to the girl’s parents, filled with guilt.
Han Xi had just entered the operating room and before she could start the surgery, the girl’s heart had already stopped.
"Doctor Han, she..."
Han Xi took off her mask, her eyes slightly red, and looked at the girl covered in blood lying on the operating table: "She was so young, what could trouble her so much that she chose to jump?"
The nearby nurse wiped away tears: "I heard it was because of school bullying."
"Clean the blood off her face, I’ll go inform her parents."
As Han Xi walked out of the operating room, the girl’s parents looked at her, their eyes filled with despair like caged birds.
The doctor had only been inside for less than ten minutes before coming out, and they didn’t need to ask to know the result.
