Jane shrugged. "It doesn't matter. Just know that I'll help you from the sidelines while you deal with the monsters ahead. Okay?"
"Yeah... missy, I don't know if that's okay," Evangeline said flatly. "You kind of just teleported from across the land. It seems like sothing you shouldn't gloss over, don't you think?"
"I'm not glossing over it," Jane replied. "I just don't want to talk about it. Plus, who even are you?"
Evangeline puffed her chest. "His future wife. And I'd like to get this done by the end of the week. Sothing special is going to happen soon, after all."
"Yeah, let's get this over and done with," Neraxis added, and nodded at Jane. "We're ready. She's low level, but she can help us. I'm sure of it."
Jane tilted her head. "And if she dies? Can you protect her while we're facing monsters that are hundreds of levels above her?"
"It doesn't matter," Evangeline chid in. "I might be weak, but unlike a certain sobody, I ca over here with all my skills intact. So if you have to estimate my level, it should be around 50 as well."
She was likely bullshitting, and while Neraxis was slightly worried, he didn't exactly point it out. He would protect her while she was with him, obviously.
And I can't exactly tell her not to co with after inviting her to the tower... Neraxis thought with a sigh.
"Once again, we're ready."
Jane paused, staring at them for a few monts before extending her hands.
"The mont you take my hand, I'll teleport us to the entrance of The Chasm. It's very large, so it'll take us a bit of ti to navigate. Are you both ready?" Jane asked. "But I'm confused why you didn't co up to earlier."
"Hm?" Neraxis tilted his head. "What do you an?"
"You passed by here earlier. I saw you on the streets, almost as if you were looking for sothing. I hope you found it though. Now, take my hand," Jane replied.
Gears spun inside his mind as he realized what the cause could be.
Another Neraxis. The one from the actual tiline of the Astral Tower.
When the current Neraxis entered, his body must've split, causing the previous Neraxis to be shot out sowhere in the world.
He had put this theory away in the back of his mind, but it seed like it wasn't that far-fetched.
"Say... Jane, before we leave for The Chasm, would it be possible for you to teleport us to Thelarin? It's the city where I accepted your quest. There are a few things I want to tell the people there before I leave," Neraxis asked.
"Seriously..." Jane facepald. "Okay. Fine. I'll take you to the center, you'll have 10 minutes to do whatever you have to do, and then we leave."
"For soone with small tits, she sure does talk big..." Evangeline muttered, but when the wide-eyed Neraxis and glaring Jane turned toward her, she froze.
"...Did I say that out loud?"
"5 minutes," Jane corrected herself.
Evangeline... co on...
[Whoopsies,] Evangeline giggled. [I didn't think I'd say it out loud. She seed a bit too stuck-up for soone who was begging for your help just over a year ago. It's a bit strange how it works, you know?]
Why look into it? Neraxis wondered as he reached for Jane's palm. Besides, it's not like it matters much. She's still herself, for the most part. We just have to do our part, and then ask her to teleport us to so obelisk at the end. Simple, right?
[Very...] Evangeline replied with a sigh and placed her hand onto Jane's palm.
Before either of them could react, their vision shifted.
It seed completely different than when he had teleported. In fact, it was nowhere near the sa experience.
It felt as if his body was being rearranged, minus the pain, of course. And finally, after what felt like several minutes, he was back in the city where Amara and the others were—Thelarin.
He felt a bit dizzy, and as he looked ahead, he realized blood was trickling down Jane's nose.
"Are you okay?" Neraxis asked. "I can give you so of my blood. I heard it's as good as a healing potion."
"I'm fine." Jane shook her head and wiped away the blood. "I don't deal in those masochistic affairs of yours. I'm not a vampire."
"Ouch," Evangeline comnted. "Sucks to be a vampire, doesn't it?"
"Shut up..."
Nonetheless, since they were back in the city, it was about ti Neraxis went out and did what he had to do.
"5 minutes, by the way," Jane reminded them. "That's for the small tits comnt."
"No need to be self-conscious. Tits are tits," Evangeline remarked with a smirk, and just as Jane was about to lash out, Evangeline grabbed Neraxis's hand and began running away.
"You really have so experience in pissing people off, don't you?" Neraxis muttered in wonder, a smile tugging at his lips.
Evangeline halted, flashing him a thumbs-up. "I learned from the best. But hey, there's your sister."
The mont she finished her words, she pointed off in the distance, where, across the alleyway, Elara was taking a walk with Aurelia.
They seed pretty close, and Elara's hatred-filled gaze was all gone, replaced by a warm smile.
It was puzzling to see her that way after all that she had gone through. Frankly, he didn't think she'd ever smile again.
Therefore, with slow steps, Neraxis began approaching.
Yet just as he was about to leave the alleyway and call out to Elara, he stopped, his brows furrowing.
To the side stood a man identical to Neraxis, clearly the one from this Elara's tiline.
The only difference was obviously the way they carried themselves, as that Neraxis had this gloomy aura around him.
To think that if I didn't encounter Evangeline, I'd have turned emo... Neraxis thought, a shiver running down his spine.
Nonetheless, before he acted, he wanted to see how this interaction would play out.
