No one dared make a sound as the winners entered the room. From what I heard from Anri, Dusk was a monster in his own right. Just when things were about to end, He reactivated his skill and dragged his teammate to the top.
And this... all happened in a fraction of a second.
He had gotten a lot stronger from when we first t. This growth... was not sothing a normal human could achieve. Was this all a facade, was Dusk really the beast in disguise? I doubt that a beast could ever replicate his ridiculous tricks. So then what was it?
I clenched my fist from the frustration that had enveloped . I didn’t want to accept it, but was the only possible answer. Yet it seed so ridiculous for it to have happened after all this ti I have been fearing its arrival.
’The hero of the Sovereign family has arrived.’’ A long ti ago, whenever I wasn’t even king, a hero was born. He ruled humanity inside The Core and created everything related to humanity’s achievents inside it. Yet in one of his missions, he sadly died saving one of his comrades.
Because of him, great families were created. The closest families related to him were chosen and with it, nobility was created.
After the hero died, many said that we would be back to help humanity once again. And just like The Core was created, through belief, a boy was born in one of the noble families.
A miracle, that was what his birth was nad. He appeared out of nowhere, so even thought he had been adopted. But he was proven to be of blood, so the rumors stopped.
By the ti of his birth, I had gotten stronger, but I was nowhere near becoming what I was whenever the third was.
By the ti he was born, everyone had already understood the truth. Whenever the hero died, he would be incarnated in another of the great families. So after The Second died, his death wasn’t as dreaded as The First, it wasn’t even as celebrated as his birth.
Maybe because people had beco bored of him. Unlike his predecessor, he had a soft heart and wasn’t too hopeful to do any studies about expeditions inside The Core, and focused on protecting the human world.
And also unlike The First, he died at the hands of a human.
Even with his good heart, and will to protect his species, they rebelled against him. Truly, he was only killed because of his will to not fight back. But the question was why would humanity even do this?
Because of their greed, they could settle with one world. They wanted to conquer The Core, and they were going to do it with or without a hero.
After his death, I soon rose to the throne. And heard many stories from humans on their deathbeds about how The Hero would co back and destroy and The Core. But this didn’t anger , instead, it made laugh. The way they thought that The Hero would be back,
and how they thought and The Core were friends. That I was his right hand in this war. But truly I wouldn’t want to destroy it more than them. The reason I didn’t do it was because my hatred for them was way hotter than The Core’s.
Though, as much as I laughed, one of those turned out to be true. And it was definitely not the second.
Landon Boyle, now I know his na. The human who defeated and my army, the one I hated most among humans, was The Third.
I rember his arrival very well. If the birth of The Second was a miracle, then his was a blessing. A hero who followed his people’s wishes to expand inside The Core. Only by this did he gain his people’s trust.
Yet as I think back to my first trial, when I was inside his body I can’t stop to think how he got there. Thats sothing... I can’t figure out as much as I try.
Hearing about his arrival, I can’t say I didn’t fear for my life for so ti.
I was there to witness the greatness of the others before him, so I doubted I could hold myself against him. So I ca up with a low plan.
In this day and age, the Boyle family is almost extinct, and as you probably figured, it was all my fault. A true genocide, that was what happened. And since The Hero was still a child, he couldn’t do anything to prevent it. But it seems the rat escaped.
My guess? He was helped by fate, these Heroes always have fate as their little helper.
And the end of his story you already know. He achieved one of humanity’s greatest desires, my death, but was unable to destroy the source.
With three of the four families each having a hero, the Sovereign had remained the last without one. That is why I feared its arrival whenever I took over his body, but it seems fate really held a grudge against , as it seems by return happened in the rise of The Fourth.
The chosen hero is fated to do the one thing his predecessors couldn’t. Whose greatest comrade was fate himself and no other.
But why now? It had been years since the death of The Third, so why had he co so late? Was there sothing that needed to happen for his birth to happen?
The first was born from the need for salvation, the need for a hero to guide them. The Second protects the human world which had been neglected by the First. The Third is to both protect the human world and revolutionize The Core. So perhaps The Fouth ca so late because his predecessor had done everything perfectly.
Until now, The heroes filled the cracks on their predecessors, so if there was no crack, why would another be born, that’s my theory. That there was no need for A Fourth, aning...
Dusk was the unneeded savior.
Yet, here even with London’s perfect run, here he was. So my answer was still unanswered.
I have an idea... it just feels like it’s too much of a stretch. The Third was able to balance the two words and at the sa ti defeated , so one of these things had to have changed for The Fourth to be born. And with the two worlds looking better than ever, with The Core exploration going at a faster rate than ever. And with the human world the peacefulness it has been, then only one remained.
I was the reason The Fourth was born. With my reincarnation, I cracked the perfect wall that was The Third and left wa after spring to create The Fourth, with it being the only family that had remained without a hero.
The Last Hero was born.
So then it makes wonder, if fate knew I would be reincarnated, did this an that I was fated to possess this boy? What if... this boy, was my incarnation, my successor.
Yet, it seed so bizarre that my incarnation would be a human and not a beast. The Fourth had been born as a human, just like his predecessors. So why was my legacy continued by a human and not a beast?
Unless... Dusk was a beast, and in a twist of fate, the successor of the hero had beco a beast, and mine a human. But was Dusk really a human, I didn’t think so. He didn’t feel to be a beast, but then again if I was a professional in identifying hidden beast I would have already figured out who was the beast hidden among the humans of this ga.
But what if the only reason I haven’t figured it out was because I just haven’t t the beast ye- ’Ow!’ I said while a figure forehead flicked . And that figure belonged to none other than Dusk.
’What was that for?’ I said while rubbing my forehead. By the way, I spoke, it was clear I was annoyed by his action, maybe because I felt disrespected, or because I was in the middle of a very important session of overthinking.
"You were spacing out, so I thought this would wake you up to reality... and it worked." He wasn’t so excited by my annoyed tone, so he replied with one of his own. And with the ironic comnt, it made it fueled the anger burning inside even more. Even with him being The Fourth Hero, he had no right to disrespect .
I tried to say sothing in return, but he just passed . My eyes widened in confusion, but then again, he had no mory of who I was so for him I was just another contestant who nominated him to death. So he probably hated ... but that was exactly what I wanted.
He stopped, turning around to face , and with a bold statent, he made his plan loud and clear. "I’m going to kill you, Moon, so from on, you better watch your back."
Kill? But you cant kill soone who doesn’t exist anymore.
