Logan’s heart slamd against his ribcage. His eyes narrowed. "She’s in danger."

The lawyers stood as well, alard. The shareholders stared.

"Henry," Logan growled, slipping off his blazer and rolling up his sleeves. "Call building security. Get the elevator ready. We’re going to check every damn floor of this building."

"But what about the registrar...?"

"She’s not here to get married," Logan snapped. "She’s trying to get out of sothing and that’s exactly where she’s stuck."

And he wasn’t going to let her face it alone.

The air in the boardroom was too still. Too quiet.

Jean’s heels clicked against the polished floor as she stepped in, her instincts already on alert. The floor was eerily empty.

Not a soul in sight when she reached here. Even the usual chatter of office noise... phones ringing, printers humming, footsteps echoing... had vanished.

Alex.

Leaning casually against the table, arms folded, a sick grin spreading across his face.

"Aww baby sister, don’t be sad. You will soon marry Tyler, he will keep you happier than that damn Kingsley." he purred.

Jean’s hand imdiately tried to dial Emma, but she barely managed to unlock the screen before Alex lunged forward and grabbed her wrist.

Her heart leapt into her throat as he slamd her back into the door.

Her head hit the hard surface with a thud. Pain shot up her spine. Her wrist twisted unnaturally in his grip.

"What are you doing Alex! Are you trying to kill ?!" She gasped, not from fear... but the rage burning inside her. "Let go!"

Alex just laughed, his eyes gleaming with sothing feral. "I didn’t think it’d be this easy to handle you."

Jean understood when she looked into his eyes. He wasn’t in his right mind. His eyes were diluted and he swayed as if still the after effects of the drugs haven’t gone.

She fought against him, kicking, clawing, writhing, but her body was still recovering from days of stress, dehydration, and now injury.

She dropped to the floor, crawling away, every breath ragged. Her fingers scraped along the carpet until they hit the edge of the table.

Get up. Don’t you dare break now, she told herself.

She used the table to hoist herself upright, but Alex was already behind her.

This ti, he slamd her face first into the tabletop. A loud crack echoed as her head hit the wood. Her vision blurred.

Jean groaned, pain radiating across her temple and shoulders. Her legs buckled, but she stayed up by sheer will.

Alex’s voice ca behind her, dark and unhinged. "What now, little sister? Going to cry for help?" he laughed maniacally. "No one’s coming. I paid good money to make this floor mine for the hour."

Jean’s body trembled but not from fear.

From fury.

He grabbed her by the hair, yanking her back to face him. His face was too close, his breath foul. "You think marrying Logan will save you from ?"

"Alex... please..."

His grip tightened, and he laughed. "What did you say? Are you begging now? Pathetic."

That’s when her eyes locked onto a glass of water left on the table.

Her fingers moved fast. And in one swift move...

The glass shattered against Alex’s skull.

His howl of pain echoed through the room as blood began to pour down the side of his face.

Jean stumbled back, breathing hard, glass shards still clutched in her hand. "Serves you, you bastard."

Alex clutched his head, dazed, stunned... but the rage building in him was monstrous.

"You hit ?"

Jean’s chest heaved, her lip bleeding, her arm trembling from the impact, but she didn’t move back.

"I should’ve done it years ago," she hissed.

The realization hit Logan like a punch to the gut... Jean had been taken. And he had no idea where she was.

There were dozens of floors in the building. Hundreds of boardrooms. No one had her location. No trace. Just a na and a lie.

He moved like a man possessed.

In the lobby, he spotted Emma... shouting at a young woman who was backed up against a pillar, trembling.

Emma turned at once. "This girl! She’s the one who led Jean away. She’s lying... she won’t say where she took Jean!"

Logan didn’t hesitate.

He grabbed the woman by the jaw, his fingers digging in tight around her chin, eyes narrowing with a murderous glare that could lt steel.

His voice was venomous. "Tell where Jean is... or I swear to God, I’ll make your life a living hell."

The woman gasped, tears spilling as she whimpered. "P...please! I didn’t an to... I just followed orders... Mr. Alex Adams, he...he paid ! It’s the 10th floor... room at the end of the hall... please don’t hurt !"

Emma turned and rushed into the elevator, but Logan?

He ran. With elevators engaged in a busy day, he didn’t trust it.

No waiting. No pace. Not thought.

Just ran like a demon.

Corridors blurred. People jumped out of his way. His lungs burned, his legs scread, but none of it mattered.

His heart slamd against his ribs with each step.

Jean. Jean. Jean.

When he reached the 10th floor, silence greeted him like a scream in the dark.

Then...

He saw it.

A door... locked from the outside.

He yanked it open.

And what he saw inside shattered the last thread of his control.

Alex was crouched over Jean, strangling her, his blood-sared face twisted in rage. Jean’s limbs flailed weakly beneath him, her eyes wide, desperate for air.

"Leave her alone, you bastard!"

Logan’s roar shook the walls.

Alex turned in surprise, but it was too late.

Logan was already on him.

Alex turned his head just in ti to see a monster charging at him.

Before he could even react, Logan tackled him off Jean, sending both n crashing to the side with bone crunching force. Jean gasped as the pressure on her throat vanished, coughing violently, her vision swimming.

"You son of a..." Alex spat, stumbling as he tried to recover.

But Logan didn’t let him breathe.

He grabbed Alex by the collar and slamd him against the wall, the impact rattling the plaster. "You think you can touch her?" Logan’s voice was a growl, deep and unrecognizable. "You thought you’d get away with this?"

Alex chuckled, blood dribbling from the corner of his mouth. "What’s this, Kingsley? Acting like a hero? You don’t belong with her. She’s..."

CRACK.
