Chapter 83: Pointing Blas
The werewolves were in a disarray as they discovered the dead alpha. His beta, the silver she-wolf, was flocked by many of their pack mbers. They wanted to know what truly happened, but she herself didn’t see what transpired right after she went out to help the others.
The Eastern guards were busy as they brought in the injured to the nearest infirmary, both humans and animals at that. Those that were strong enough helped with clearing the ss.
Sir Noa tried to search for the princess that fought her husband, but they were out of sight.
"Sir, all n and won, as well as children and animals from outside the palace walls were mostly safe," one of the guards reported. "It seems like the attack had been focused more here at the palace grounds, both at the Jade and Crystal Palace."
"Very well," Noa said as he took a look at the progress in front of him. "After you lot are done over there, go tell Minerva that she needs to see Queen Euphemia."
"Understood, Sir Noa," the guard bowed.
"Wait, before I forget," the young adviser called the guard back.
"Yes, Sir Noa?" the guard responded as he turned around.
"I will need a tracker to find the Western envoys, the Prince Aleksander and his wife, as well as the servants and knights that ca with them. We will have to detain them along the other vampires that attacked," Noa said.
The guard bowed in acknowledgent, and then proceeded to do the tasks that were given to them.
The Crystal Palace was in a hot ss, but Noa trusted the Eastern people were going to push through just fine. Queen Euphemia was in a safe place, Lawin guarding her protectively.
His eyes stared at his n working, the other court n and won helping to clear debris as well as the blood stains on the floor. The scattered scrolls were gathered, people careful not to read what was in it.
The vampire prince had gone berserk after reading the scrolls. Perhaps the papers that were ant for Queen Euphemia had magic imbued in them.
Noa released a sigh of relief. It was for the best that he had advised the young queen not to accept anything from the Western envoys especially anything written or made a sound.
They could never be too careful with how cunning the Western King was.
As the vampires that attacked together with the Crown Prince were taken into an isolation room, Teo was also locked up with them. Aleksander’s magic hasn’t worn off from him just yet, and the vampire knight continued to tremble and speak to himself in the room he was in.
At the quieter side of the palace, Elys, Aleksander, Cordelia, and Henry were hunched over as they strategized what their next move was going to be.
"This is getting a lot out of hand," Elys grumbled, "hah... I wish I just dashed off and saved myself from this problem when you lost your mind."
The room they had co upon was filled with vine curtains that they had to cut off a few for much needed space. Cordelia and Henry watched as their masters bantered, trying to diate but weren’t much successful.
"Aw co on," Aleksander whined, "I went beyond my capacity for compassion and humility when I apologized regarding being influenced by my father’s magic. How many tis must you rub it in my face?"
"Until I am satisfied, I will rub it in your face without rcy," Elys said without a hint of remorse in her voice.
"Your highness, Prince and Princess," Cordelia tried to cut them off as they continued to glare at each other. "Let us not point blas here anymore."
"Yes," Henry nodded, "I don’t normally agree with her, but this ti around I do believe the maidservant is right. We have more pressing matters to think about rather than bla each other for things that ti can never return."
Aleksander turned his head to face their servants, "Stay out of this, Cordelia, Henry," he warned them.
Henry lowered his head and mumbled a quick apology, but on the contrary, Cordelia only raised a white brow at the prince.
The old woman said, "Forgive , your highness, Prince Aleksander. But my princess had already gone beyond her personal traumas to heal you, thinking your attitude was redeemable, but apparently it’s not."
"Leave it be Cordelia," Elys shook her head, "you and Henry are right. Let’s just focus on what we should do now."
The prince bit his lip as a frown washed upon his handso face. He didn’t intend to say those words to the princess. And the maidservant just reminded him how much of a jerk he really is.
’Great, now I just made myself go back to square one,’ he thought to himself.
His initial plan to get to his wife’s good side and learn more about her magic was already going downhill as of the mont.
"Everything we own is gone," Henry also pointed out. "What little we have left is with us now if I am correct."
"That is true," Elys agreed. "Not to ntion what we are wearing is full of blood. The Eastern people would probably faint to see such bloodshed with clothes."
"We must cleanse ourselves from the stench of battle first, and then mask it with another," Aleksander said. "Anyti now, I know the Eastern people will have us tracked with tracker hounds, the stench would be our doom."
"And where do you suggest we do just that? We are lost in a huge palace, would have been great if we magically find ourselves in a bathhouse with spare clothes," Elys crossed her arms.
The prince smirked at her retort. Elys found his expression confusing, and a bit irritating too. Why did he smile as if he knew sothing that she didn’t?
Taking Elys’ question as a cue, Aleksander stood up and walked towards a thick foliage of forest curtains. He plunged one of his hands through, and then swiped them to the side to reveal what looked like a passageway.
A light wind blew from the passage, and Henry shivered as the cold air touched his skin.
"Where does that go?" the old man asked.
