312 Childbirth (Part 2)

As soon as he finished speaking, Li Miao scread again.

The pain beca more and more frequent.

“Li Miao, save so strength,” Yue Jiaojiao looked around and found a clean object for her to hold in her hand, “If it really hurts, you can bite on this. Otherwise, you won’t have the strength to give birth later.”

When Madam Qin — who was in the kitchen — heard Li Miao’s screams, she was anxious and her movents sped up. She quickly made a bowl of eggs with sugar water and put six eggs in it.

“Eat sothing.”

Li Miao’s hands were shaking from the pain.

Yue Jiaojiao sat by the bed with a bowl in her hand, waiting for her to stop hurting before imdiately feeding her. The few of them waited anxiously for almost two hours.

“Li Miao!”

Yang Dashan’s voice ca from the door.

“The midwife is here!”

Doctor Sun looked at Yue Jiaojiao and nodded, and the two of them left the room.

“How is she?”

“She just ate. Dashan, you should go in and take a look.”

Yang Dashan rushed into the room with the midwife.

“Doctor Sun, you can guard the courtyard first. If anything happens, you can go in and help in ti.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll leave after she gives birth.”

Yue Jiaojiao turned to look at Madam Qin. “Should we head ho? Li Miao will definitely be weak after giving birth. Do we have chickens at ho? We can make so chicken soup for her.”

“Yes. Before Zhao Zhan left, he went to the mountain and hunted a few pheasants. Two of them happened to be hens. He asked

to prepare soup stock for you in case you’re hungry at night.”

Yue Jiaojiao was taken aback. She didn’t know how many things this guy had done behind her back these few days.

“You can prepare a pot.”

“By the way…” Yue Jiaojiao suddenly thought of sothing and asked, “Are there any dicinal herbs that are mild and suitable for nourishing the body in chicken soup? Li Miao’s delivery will definitely damage her vitality.”

“Yes, there’s a cabinet in my room for dicinal herbs. On the eighth grid on the second floor, there’s a dicinal packet for giving birth. Take one and put it in the chicken soup.

“This is what Zhao Zhan told . He asked

to remind Madam Qin to make you a bowl of herbal soup every afternoon.”

Zhao Zhan wasn’t here, but every mont was still spent with his presence.

“Let’s go. The chicken soup will take at least two hours to be ready.”

Madam Qin was afraid that Yue Jiaojiao would be upset at Zhao Zhan’s absence and she quickly interjected. “Li Miao’s family doesn’t have any elders. After she gives birth, we have to help take care of her.”

The sky turned dark.

Doctor Sun, who was guarding Yang Dashan’s courtyard, returned ho with a tired face.

“Is it over?”

When Yue Jiaojiao saw that he had returned, she went to the kitchen to get the rice that she had been saving for him. “How are they?

“It got rocky in the middle. I let her put a piece of ginseng in her mouth, and she survived.” Doctor Sun first filled his stomach. “The midwife has been sent away. If you want to see her, you can go and see her now.”

“They must be exhausted.”

Yue Jiaojiao imdiately called out to Madam Qin. The entire pot of chicken soup, including the at and bones, was in the crock jar, and Yue Jiaojiao directly brought the entire pot over.

As soon as she entered the courtyard, she heard the child crying.

“Li Miao, can Madam Qin and I go in?”

Yang Dashan ca out of the room, “Co in quickly.”

He was happy to be a father for the first ti.

Madam Qin carried the chicken soup to the kitchen and continued to warm the pot on the stove.

There was a strong sll of blood in the room.

The doors and windows were tightly shut.

Li Miao was lying under the blanket, her eyes closed and she looked listless.

“Li Miao?”

The bedroom was in the inner room.

Yue Jiaojiao lifted the curtain a little, but the door to the main room was still half-closed, so no wind could blow in.

They needed so fresh air.

Li Miao had just given birth and was in a weak state. It was hard to guarantee that she wouldn’t get sick in such a dull environnt.

“Over here…”

Li Miao said weakly.

“Where’s your oil lamp? I’ll help you light it. ”

Li Miao pointed out a seat for her.

The dim oil lamp added light to the room.

It was only then that Yue Jiaojiao realized that Li Miao was still lying on the mattress she had laid out for her.

Li Miao said softly, “Dashan went to get soone. The child was born early. He has to inform soone and bring the person here.”

“Li Miao, I’ll get Madam Qin to co over and clean up the place. She has experience in taking care of children.”

...

The two babies were sleeping beside Li Miao.

Yue Jiaojiao suspected that they were at most as long as her forearms.

The child looked so fragile that she did not dare to move them an inch.

Madam Qin worked nimbly and quickly made a clean bed for Li Miao. She then went to get hot water and helped Li Miao wash up before changing her into comfortable clothes.
