Damian still did not seem convinced.

"Damian, I will get upset if you keep on being suspicious. Alpha even taught how to use the gun for self-defense and gives in to all of my little whims. Not only him, but everyone also is very nice to ," Violet expressed. Her hazel eyes stared at Damian in discontentnt.

He understood there was no use in bringing his suspicions up in front of Violet. Violet tends to judge everything from her own experience.

"I am sorry. I should have kept a look out for the pack. I knew that Stanley was unreliable, but I didn’t think he would side with Mathew entirely. You must have suffered," Damian stated. The guilt was evident in his voice.

Due to his business, Damian was always travelling around— often tis being out of the country. And because Damian associated the pack with his father, it was a trauma for him. It made sense for him to ignore everything related to the pack.

Mathew with his sweet and servile attitude had everyone convinced. No one could have predicted he would flip like that suddenly.

"My dad always said a Alpha needs to be roughened up by life before they can take their position. This is what I needed I suppose," Violet comnted.

Damian asked, "Are you planning to take over the pack next?"

Violet nodded. "Of course, that’s my pack."

Then, his gaze trailed down to her stomach. "And the child?"

There was a hint of maternal adoration in Violet’s eyes. "In the beginning, I was desperate for a family, feeling abandoned by everyone, and now, I have grown to beco more attached."

"Taking care of a child is no easy feat," Damian pointed out.

Violet’s lips curled up mischievously. "If it gets too hard, I will send it over to you. How about it?"

Damian shook his head.

"I tried to find the CCTV footage of the day you’re plotted against, but everything was deleted. This is odd considering how Alpha Sylas presented the footage of that day in the conference," Damian brought up. "There is chance he might have deleted it."

Violet tilted her head in confusion.

"Why would he do that? It must have been sothing else," Violet expressed, shrugging casually. She reached out for the mango cake and took a bite.

Damian’s eyes fell on the simpleton in front of him, and he felt worried. She probably needed to get kicked by life a few more tis to grow smarter.

Although he had more relevant points to bring up, Damian kept quiet. Knowing Violet, she would probably straight up ask Sylas about it for clarity. And even if she tried to stay low, it wouldn’t be possible.

Inside the den of such a dangerous wolf, it was better for her to remain oblivious and foolish.

Violet’s phone rang up, receiving a ssage from Lydia.

"Where are you?" read the ssage.

Violet obediently let her know the details.

"Are you here alone?" Damian asked.

Violet shook her head. "Lydia brought here. You should know Lydia, right?"

"Lydia Parker," Damian enunciated, "The infamous doctor— praised and wanted by all for her talent. Although I have heard of her, I haven’t gotten chance to et her yet."

"You will like her once you et her. Although Lydia acts all impatient, she can’t really say no to ," Violet proudly expressed. "She is nice."

"By the sounds of it, you seed to have tad the three rogues well. Just don’t get bitten and then cry," Damian warned her.

Before Violet could respond, the door to the bakery opened. The bell chid. Violet turned her head, spotting Lydia. She waved her hand at Lydia.

In contrast to the wide smile on her face, there was grim anger in Lydia’s eyes. Violet could tell she wasn’t pleased.

"I told you to stay put," Lydia sternly pointed out. Violet understood there was a scolding to be followed.

Then, a smooth lie followed from her mouth. "I t Damian in the hospital, and he promised to treat to pastries. He is a good friend of mine."

Damian wasn’t surprised. Although Violet seed well-behaved, he brought her up when she was a little girl and understood she could be cunning if needed.

Lydia’s eyes fell on Damian.

The man seed to be in his early thirties, exuding an air of quiet confidence. He wore a well-fitted, freshly pressed suit. His dark hair was neatly combed, and his clean-shaven face carried a calm, composed expression. In his hand was a branded watch, showing off his status.

Everything about him gave off the impression of a mature, reserved, and deeply well-mannered man. However, Lydia could see the shrewdness hidden deep in his bones.

Damian stood up and greeted politely.

"I am Damian West. I was a forr pack mber of Blue Rise pack and watched Violet grow up. After everything that happened, I was concerned about her. Thank you for taking care of her."

Violet pulled back the chair for Lydia and indicated for her to sit. Once Lydia sat down, Damian did the sa. Violet then handed her a fork and opened the box of strawberry shortcake for her, pushing the slice in front of her slowly.

Her eager eyes stared at Lydia— this being her silent way of expressing her apology.

But Lydia ignored her.

"Lydia Parker," Lydia introduced.

Before she could say anything, Violet spoke up, "Damian knows you. He says he admires you. Try out the cake. They are really good."

"She has been always like this from childhood. It must be difficult for you to look after her. I can never be grateful enough. If there is anything I can do for you to make up, please feel free to ask," Damian expressed. His words were courteous and considerate.

Lydia took the fork from Violet’s hand.

"I understand your intentions," Lydia spoke out, "But Violet is one of us, so there is no need for repaynt."
