Chapter 200: Chaos!
The culprit behind this scene was, of course, none other than Higo. Honestly, if it were any normal goalkeeper, they would never dare to be this decisive. After all, the player on the other side of the flank could’ve just taken a direct shot from his spot, and if the goalkeeper moved first, he would only make a fool of himself.
However, Higo was different here. He had his clairvoyance ability, and this was his capital in facing this situation. Before the pass from the middle could even reach that flank, his brain had already sent a signal that a diagonal pass was coming, so the boy reacted accordingly, cutting the source with his quick thinking and getting ready to launch a counterattack.
However, before he could throw the ball to the front where all of his teammates were waiting, the referee suddenly blew the whistle, pausing the ga abruptly.
"What?! Sensei, it is an advantage for us! How could you pause it like that?!" Higo jumped, catching the ball that he was about to throw before starting to complain intently to the referee.
He himself didn’t notice that Abraham Nori just fell under his feet here, thinking that the referee blew the whistle for a foul against him. However, the opponent’s other players saw this, and they didn’t hesitate to push Higo back rather violently.
"What do you an by advantage, Bastard?! You fouled our captain!"
"Yes! Look at him, still cannot move! This is a blatant and malicious foul! Sensei, just send him off already!"
Well, of course, the other Hakodate Nishi players would never let their goalkeeper fight alone. While they were no help in term of defending the last play, but in this case, they all showed their fierceness to protect their teammate.
"Hey, back down, you bastards! The one you push is our captain!"
"Yes, and it is he who fouled our senpai! Don’t you see the ball is in his grasp first?!"
Makino himself didn’t stop the others, just staring at Abraham Nori coldly. They both were fellow captains here, and yet, none of them was willing to do anything. They still believed that they were right, and putting pressure on the referee like this was a normal thing to happen during the ga.
However, it wasn’t just the players who put pressure on the referee. Even the crowd started booing from outside the pitch, with no one really knowing who they were booing and why.
"Damn! Referee, you suck!"
"Goalkeeper, you’re as dirty as fuck! Get out of here!"
"Nori, don’t embarrass the school with your cheap trick! Just get up and play along!"
Honestly, with the referee not announcing what was going on, the situation succumbed to chaos right then. Even Higo himself still didn’t know what was going on, glancing confusedly at Abraham Nori, who still sat on the ground.
"What the hell am I doing here? I swear, I get the ball!" He showed the ball in his hand, trying to clear his na right now.
Fortunately, the referee was calm enough to handle this situation. He pushed everyone back firmly, asking the two captains to approach them to discuss this matter.
"First things first, are you okay?" The old man asked Abraham Nori, who fell rather violently.
The boy himself stayed quiet for a while, knowing that this could be a decisive mont. If he could act like he was hurting from the fall, maybe the referee could give him a pity point here. However, under the fierce glare from Makino and the concern from the referee, he could only swallow all the theatrical tricks under his sleeves right now, shaking his head firmly.
"Don’t worry, Sensei, I am just shocked by the fall, nothing more and nothing less." Said the boy.
The referee checked his expression for another second before giving him a nod of approval. "Good. The whistle before is two things. The first is to check since your fall is quite harsh, and the second is because you are in an offside position first." He inford both the captains here while also pointing at the sideline.
True enough, when they glanced at that spot, the linesman had already raised his flag, showing that he had been caught in a foul first.
"I see your reaction from the beginning, and I appreciate you not playing tricks in front of . I know that Hakodate Nishi’s goalkeeper didn’t really touch you, so if you make a fuss about it, I would probably have to give you a yellow card here. Good job, Boy. Your honesty is precious."
Well, Abraham Nori just twitched the corner of his lips, sohow feeling complicated. He was so glad that he escaped from the yellow card, and yet, the praise did nothing other than as a consolation prize. It didn’t give the team a goal or another chance to score, just a cold sentence to be forgotten later.
Unfortunately, this was the reality that he had to face right now. Makino himself also tried his best to hold his laughter, knowing that the wind was back on his team’s side right now. He looked at his fellow captain mockingly before going back to his teammates to inform them of this good news.
"So, how is it, Senpai?" Fujinaga asked, worrying sick about this. He was the first one to make a mistake, so if sothing bad happened, he was definitely the one who bore the most responsibility for it.
Instead of answering directly, though, Makino just pointed at the linesman on the sideline. When all eyes turned in that direction, a collective relieved sigh could be heard among them all.
"Damn, so it is offside, huh?" Jun sighed; his shoulder sagged a few inches down. "I swear, this scene scares the shit out of !"
"It is just a pity, though, that our chance to counterattack and kill the ga is gone," Higo said in a regretful tone. Yeah, he was the only one who probably still thought about it.
"Eh, don’t worry, Chibi. Even though we didn’t get any more goals, I am sure we can still win this ga." Makino shrugged. "I an, there is no way Kumiko-chan doesn’t react after seeing this. See?" He pointed at the bench, where two players were about to co in.
True enough, once everyone was ready to play again, Kumiko made another substitution. This ti, Sano was coming for Jun, while Takaaki replaced Fujinaga, who was already on the verge of his death in the midfield.
Seeing this, everyone sighed simultaneously, with Makino inwardly muttering, ’At least, fresh bloods will be enough to deal with this shit. 15 minutes to go, we can do this! Co on!’
