Chapter 181: Morning Chat with Family

The next morning, Higo was awoken far earlier than his normal biological clock. The sun was still peeking slightly on the horizon, and the sky was painted by the hue of the background, creating a peaceful scene that could soothe any restless soul outside.

Higo himself didn’t get up imdiately. No, he just sat still on his bed, a sweet mory of last night’s gentle kiss still lingering on his head.

’So, it is real, huh? Not just a re dream...’ He rubbed his cheek unconsciously, especially at the spot where Kumiko pecked him last night. Then, a huge grin slowly ford on his face, followed by a creepy laughter after that. "Goddamn, everything is real! Fuck yeah!" He punched the air in celebration, acting like a goofy teenager who fell in love for the first ti in his life.

Well, it wasn’t really wrong. Kumiko was indeed his first love. However, he had been falling deeper into her for so many years, probably when they were in primary school. So, when the feeling was returned like this, his first instinct was to laugh, and then he cried silently for all the hard work he had put in the past.

He got up imdiately, washing his face at lightning speed before starting to prepare breakfast. It was a bit hasty, especially since it was still quite dark outside. However, for an amateur whose love was accepted for the first ti, his mind was quite simple right now.

’The quicker I made this, the quicker also I could et her. Co on!’ He humd with a huge grin on his face.

While he was busy, the boy didn’t notice that his mother was awoken by all the commotion he made. Minami groaned, still having a little crust on the corner of her eyes while she stared at her boy sleepily.

"Urgh... Not that I complained, but is there any reason to be this happy so early? Also, why are you making breakfast so early in the morning, Ryukkun? Your ga should be around 12, right?" She asked confusedly.

Higo glanced slightly at his mother before his feet flew again, moving fast in the kitchen. Just within a minute, Minami was so stunned to find herself sitting there with a mug of hot cocoa in her hand.

"Here, Mom! Enjoy your drink before it gets cold!" He chirped happily.

Minami felt the corner of her mouth twitching, not sure what to make of her son’s weird behavior. While sipping her hot chocolate, though, she also glanced at Higo a little bit more, finding a familiar smile plastered on his face.

’Ah, so that’s what happens...’ Minami nodded in realization. "You made progress with Kumiko-chan?" She asked bluntly, knowing that there was no use in beating around the bush.

Higo choked instantly, his face turned red as if all the blood was rushing to that spot. "M—Mom?!" He sputtered, couldn’t even hide his stutter.

"What? Am I wrong?" Minami asked casually, yet a hint of smugness could be seen on her smile while she was sipping the warm chocolate again. "So, spill, what did you do? Did you ask her for a date? Holding hand? Or maybe... A kiss?" Her smile was predatory, resembling a group of neighbors who had nothing to do and liked to gossip around in the early morning on Tuesday.

Knowing that he couldn’t escape further, though, Higo finally spilled everything, from his inviting her to a date and her returning it with a peck. The boy said it all with a squeaky tone, too embarrassed to stare at his mother directly.

"So... Let

get this straight." Minami humd playfully. "Not only did you invite her for a date with such a romantic promise, but she also accepted it by kissing you on your cheek, and straight in front of her house?!" She squealed giddily.

Higo didn’t have the guts to stare directly at his mother, just nodding silently while hoping that the ground would open up out of nowhere to eat him alive. Even though he was so close to his mother, that didn’t an he wouldn’t be embarrassed by her gossiping about him, especially his love life.

Still, it seed that his mother had another idea here, since the woman went for her phone imdiately to make a call.

"Wait, what are you doing, Mom?" Higo perked up, alard by what she was doing here.

"Of course, telling your sister. What else?" The way she said it was like this was the most obvious thing in the world.

"No, no, no, no!" Higo shook his head in panic, trying to snatch the phone from her hand. "If you want to tell her, at least, wait until the promise is fulfilled! It would be embarrassing if I failed to do that after you brag about it to her!" He tried to reason with her.

Unfortunately, his mom was the type of person who couldn’t be changed once she had made up her mind, so she just brushed his concern off so easily here. "Bah! Don’t worry, you’re both siblings, there is nothing to be embarrassed about. Also, why are you being embarrassed here? You should be proud of getting her, you know?"

Well, for that, Higo couldn’t really complain. However, when he heard his mother chatting with his sister, he really wanted to shrink so little and go unnoticed, not wanting to get caught in this ss. Unfortunately, since this was his ss, he was bound to get dragged here.

"Co on, Ryukkun! Don’t be too lowkey like that!" Ayaka, his sister, said from the call while she was laughing her ass off. "Just treat her well and with the respect she deserves. Kumiko is a very good girl, don’t you dare hurt her heart! Also, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, okay?"

Higo groaned lightly while covering his face from the secondhand embarrassnt here. Fortunately, she didn’t tease him too much, even showing the biggest support here.

"You want to wait until you get to the National Tournant, right? Coincidentally, it will also be held in Tokyo, so bring her here and introduce her to ! I will wait for you to beco a couple soon, so don’t disappoint

and yourself, okay, little brother?!"

Higo just sighed helplessly when he heard that, but his heart was still ward from her concern. In the end, he just nodded slightly, answering with a low whisper, "Yes, Ma’am." Before he turned off the call, he was getting ready for the ga today.
