Chapter 841: Chapter 630: Hercules Class and Hurricane Class

The reforms on Sumatra Island and Java Island, along with the independence of Kalimantan Island, were almost simultaneous, keeping these three islands, once part of the Dutch East Indies, at the top of the world news for an entire month.

Sumatra and Java retained their original nas and were temporarily subject to military managent.

anwhile, Kalimantan beca the independent United Chiefdom of Kalimantan, with its capital in Balikpapan, located on the eastern side of the island.

For at least three years to co, the migration of the indigenous population would be the biggest topic amongst these three islands and the only action by Australasia on Sumatra and Java.

Once the migration of the indigenous peoples was complete, the developnt of Sumatra and Java would begin, and these islands would fully localize, turning into the key to Arthur’s control of the Malacca Strait.

As Australasia was annexing the Dutch East Indies, the British were not idle; they, along with a group of small European countries, initiated a discussion within the World Alliance regarding whether Germany should join, ultimately garnering the agreent of most countries that Germany was qualified for mbership.

This move directly infuriated the Frenchn. In their view, the so-called World Alliance was an organization for the victorious Allies of World War I to divide the spoils of war, and naturally, they could not tolerate the defeated and principal culprit of World War I, Germany, joining.

Even more fatal was that no matter what the British-German relations were like, the Franco-German relations were definitely hateful.

The French could never side with the Germans, aning that Germany joining the World Alliance was an outright disaster for France, already hindering their influence within Europe.

Using their one-vote veto power, the French refused to allow Germany to join the World Alliance, but this also led to criticism from other countries, who believed the French were affecting the developnt of Europe for their selfish interests.

It must be admitted that the one-vote veto power is indeed a great thing. Even if the British influence within the World Alliance is incredibly dominant, France can always use its veto power to reject the diplomatic efforts the British had made.

But the question is, in the current grand sche of things, can the French really stop Germany from joining the World Alliance?

To add more strength to Germany in counterbalancing France, the British spared no effort.

In fact, as early as five years prior, several countries had raised the issue of Germany joining the World Alliance.

However, at that ti the war had just ended, and the French hatred towards the Germans was still rather deep, so they firmly refused the proposal for Germany to join the World Alliance.

But now, five years had passed, and the French hatred towards Germany had dissipated slightly. Moreover, the current state of Germany was indeed pitiful, and factions within France had even begun to sympathize with Germany, proposing that Germany join the World Alliance.

The controversial point at the mont is that the French believe that Germany joining the World Alliance would make it a permanent mber of the Security Council, which would greatly harm French interests.

Additionally, joining the World Alliance would relax international restrictions on Germany, leading to a rapid increase in German power and a growing German threat.

The French concerns were addressed during a secret negotiation between the British and French.

The British assured that Germany would not beco a permanent mber of the World Alliance Security Council, and it was not possible to relax the restrictions on Germany until it showed good behavior.

After reaching a compromise between the British and French, Germany naturally joined the World Alliance as one of the ordinary mber states.

Although the German governnt was dissatisfied with the status of being an ordinary mber, since they achieved their goal of joining the World Alliance, there wouldn’t be too much opposition for now.

This was what the British wanted to see. German discontent with their status would be transferred to the French.

After all, it was the French who refused to let Germany beco a permanent mber of the Security Council, a direct conflict between France and Germany.

As such, the World Alliance would naturally be divided into those who support France and those who support Germany.

The British could then play their preferred role of neutrality, watching the competition between Germany and France within the World Alliance.

Currently, in the Franco-German competition, France has a significant advantage, which is why the British lean towards Germany.

No matter the previous British-German relations, to the British, whoever posed a threat was the true enemy.

The French, isolated within the World Alliance, naturally turned their attention to the other permanent mber of the Security Council, Soviet Russia.

But Russia was clearly a bottomless pit, and France would have to support the Russians to win the civil war and achieve unity if they wanted Russian firm support.

However, the Russian civil war was not easy to win, and Soviet Russia was obviously gaining more public support, with the war massively depleting Russian resources.

If France turned to support the Russian civil war, the war’s consumption alone might be enough to cause French collapse.

Eliminating a competitor effortlessly was the best news for the British and the reason why they invited Germany to join the World Alliance.

After neutralizing the French threat, Germany, heavily restricted, and Russia, trendously weakened by civil war, clearly did not match up to the British.

Australasia, far off in Oceania, could not exert much influence on Europe, and the World Alliance would beco a platform dominated by British discourse.
