Selena slowly opened her eyes, greeted by the soft glow of sunlight filtering through the infirmary’s window. Her vision blurred for a mont as she adjusted to the surroundings.

The room was quiet, save for the gentle hum of healing magic modules and the distant sounds of the settlent awakening to a new day.

As her groggy mind began to clear, she realised she was wrapped in bandages, her body still aching from the wounds inflicted by the bandits.

Confusion washed over Selena as she tried to piece together what had happened. She couldn’t recall how she had returned to the settlent, the events after her capture fading into a haze. Her mory seed fragnted, disjointed, and she struggled to make sense of it all.

Then, in a sudden rush, the mories flooded back—the pain inflicted upon her by the bandits, the fear and uncertainty that had gripped her heart as the Bandits tortured her for days.

But amidst the recollection of darkness, a beacon of light erged—the image of Shinon’s eyes blazing with determination as he fought against the bandits to save her.

A wave of warmth washed over Selena, erasing the lingering pain and replacing it with a profound sense of gratitude and happiness. She couldn’t help but smile, her lips parting in silent appreciation for the man who had risked everything for her.

"Thank you," she weakly whispered. "Thank you for saving , for risking everything to protect ."

Her voice was barely a whisper, but it carried the weight of her heartfelt appreciation.

A stray tear drop trickled down her face as she lay there, wrapped in bandages and surrounded by the healing embrace of i’s magical plants.

As she turned to wipe it off, Selena’s gaze shifted to the figure slumbering peacefully in the chair beside her bed. It was Shinon; his hand lay loosely on his lap, his presence providing her with unsurmountable comfort.

With gentle determination, Selena reached out and gently clasped Shinon’s hand, her fingers intertwining with his. The warmth of his touch reassured her, filling her with a sense of comfort and solace. She studied his peaceful features, dishevelled hair and the hint of a smile on his face, even in his slumber.

Her eyes traced the lines of his face, the curve of his lips that had uttered words of his hate for what the bandits did to her. Selena was torn between her desire to express her gratitude fully and her respect for his rest and hesitated montarily.

She longed to lean in and press her lips against his, to show him how much he ant to her in a mont of intimacy. To rember the monts they had shared in the past. But a voice in her heart reminded her that it was not the right ti or place.

Instead, Selena leaned over and kissed Shinon’s cheek softly, tenderly. The touch of her lips on his warm skin conveyed a depth of emotion that words could not capture. She lingered for a mont, feeling a surge of affection for the man who had beco her protector.

"I don’t know how you did it, Shinon," she mumbled, her voice filled with awe. "You faced them all, fought for ... and I am here, safe because of you."

A soft sigh escaped Selena’s lips as she reflected on the courage and strength Shinon had displayed. She marvelled at his unwavering resolve, his ability to face darkness head-on without hesitation. At that mont, she realised the depth of her admiration and appreciation for him.

As she watched him sleep, Selena’s thoughts drifted to the countless tis Shinon had been there for her, supporting her in the face of adversity. From their first encounter, she had sensed sothing extraordinary within him, a spark of determination and resilience that set him apart.

The infirmary room was a haven of healing, with delicate vines of magical plants winding their way along the walls, emitting a soothing aura. Their vibrant colours and gentle glow spoke of the power of nature, the resilience and rejuvenation it offered.

Selena’s eyes returned to Shinon; his face bathed in the soft morning light. She found herself overwheld with gratitude, admiration, and an unspoken desire to repay the debt she felt towards him.

"I guess there’s only one way to pay my debt."

In that tranquil mont, Selena made a silent promise to herself. She vowed to stand by Shinon’s side, support him in his endeavours, and ensure that his sacrifice to save her would not be in vain.

She knew that the road ahead would be fraught with challenges, but with Shinon’s unwavering presence, she felt a newfound strength.

She settled back into her pillows, her hand gently cradling Shinon’s. Closing her eyes, Selena allowed herself to bask in the warmth of his presence, grateful for the bond they shared.

And as the soft light of daybreak bathed the infirmary, Selena allowed herself to drift back to sleep, her heart filled with a newfound sense of hope and determination.

The room filled with a peaceful silence, the soft sounds of morning drifting in through the open window. And as the sun continued its ascent, casting its golden light upon the world, Selena and Shinon remained in their quiet connection, not knowing what the future held for them.

Unbeknownst to Selena, Marcus stood at the infirmary’s door, observing the tender mont shared between her and Shinon.

His presence served as a witness to a connection he had secretly hoped to forge with Selena long ago. Anger flickered in his eyes, montarily clouding his face, but he quickly composed himself.

Everything happened because he failed her and thought he had moved on. But he knew it was all a facade when he found himself worrying for her wellbeing once the bandits had captured her.

He hoped they could give their relationship another shot once she had recovered, but now he realised his dreams won’t co to reality.

"I was too late..." Marcus smiled and shook his head.

Marcus accepted the situation as he realised that Selena had chosen Shinon, that her heart had found solace in another’s embrace.

Though disappointnt lingered, he recognised the sincerity of her choice. With a bittersweet smile, he silently turned away, respecting her decision and vowing to move forward on his own.
