As Shinon and the two guards made their way back to the temporary camp, their footsteps blending with the rustling of leaves, curiosity brimd within the guards. They couldn’t help but voice their musings to Shinon, hoping for a hint of insight.

"Hey, Shinon," one of the guards began, his voice laced with curiosity. "We couldn’t help but notice how Madam Lova treated you back there."

The second guard intervened, "It’s not often we see her behave so politely towards soone... Is there sothing special going on between you two? You don’t need to answer if you don’t want to!"

Shinon’s eyes flickered with a mixture of surprise and bewildernt. He hadn’t anticipated such a question, and for a mont, he hesitated, searching for the proper response. However, a part of him was equally perplexed by the recent turn of events concerning Lova’s behaviour.

"Keep your focus on the task at hand," Shinon replied curtly, his voice tinged with annoyance.

He chose to deflect the question, not ready to delve into the complexities of his relationship with Lova, for he himself was still grappling with it.

While the guards respected Shinon’s dismissal, their curiosity remained alive, silently speculating about the dynamics between Shinon and Lova.

It was even weirder because they had always thought Marcus and Lova were close to each other, but even then, they had never seen Lova jump up to side with soone like she did with Shinon.

anwhile, Shinon was having doubts of his own. Deep within, he couldn’t deny the significance of his connection with Lova. It had beco apparent that the system had orchestrated their encounters, assigning peculiar tasks centred around Lova.

A realisation dawned upon Shinon, shedding light on the underlying motive behind these orchestrated monts—an attempt to cultivate trust and forge a bond. To turn Lova into soone who could be exploited for his use.

A mischievous smile crept onto Shinon’s lips as he contemplated the implications. The thought of Marcus’s potential reaction to his gradual acquisition of influence amused him.

With Selena, Lova, and even Nova standing by his side, Shinon realised that a considerable portion of the settlent, and even a faction of the leadership, had aligned themselves with him. His plans were slowly but surely taking a turn for the better.

"Marcus would lose his mind if he knew what I have been doing behind his back," Shinon mused inwardly, his smile widening. "Step by step, I’m gaining control and asserting my influence. With Selena, Lova, and Nova as allies, I hold the support of the majority."

The weight of his plans and the implications of his growing influence settled upon him, fueling a newfound determination. Shinon’s path was becoming clearer, and the puzzle pieces were falling into place.

However, he remained cautious, aware of the intricate web of loyalties and the delicate nature of alliances. As the camp drew nearer, Shinon’s thoughts turned towards the future.

A bit of patience was all he needed to turn Marcus’ world upside down. After all, even his so-called hero, General Ironheart, had rallied behind Shinon.

As Shinon returned to the camp, a surprising sight greeted him. Rico, with an air of anticipation, stood there, wide awake, as if waiting for his return. The flickering flas of the campfire danced in the night, casting playful shadows across their faces.

"Hey, where have you been?" Kira inquired, her curiosity evident in her voice. "We were wondering where you and the guards disappeared to."

Shinon t Kira’s gaze, contemplating his response. He understood the delicate nature of their recent excursion to the mines. Revealing the details to Rico, Kira, or Selena could potentially complicate matters and raise unnecessary concerns.

That said, Shinon knew he had to co up with sothing as it didn’t look like they would let go of the matter unless he gave them a plausible explanation.

"Oh, we were just taking a stroll around the periter," Shinon replied casually, maintaining an air of nonchalance. "The guards wanted to show the outskirts of the camp, you know, to familiarise with the area."

Selena’s brow furrowed slightly at these words, sensing there was more to the story than Shinon let on. "Is that all? It seed like quite a lengthy stroll, don’t you think?"

Shinon chuckled softly, attempting to deflect any suspicion. "Well, you know how guards can get. They love to show off their patrol routes and share stories. Ti flies when you’re engrossed in conversation. Is that what happened, boys?"

Shinon urged the guards to back him up, and they did so by nodding unsatisfactorily.

Rico’s gaze narrowed, but he chose not to press further. He trusted Shinon’s judgnt, even if he couldn’t help but feel a pang of curiosity. After all, secrets within the group could sotis breed uncertainty.

"Yeah, I get it," Rico replied, his tone tinged with lightheartedness and genuine concern. "Just rember, next ti, give us a heads up. We were all caught off guard, thinking the guards had it covered. Selena’s intuition saved the day, but it could have gone south real quick."

"You’re right, Rico. I apologise for the trouble and the unnecessary risk," Shinon replied, his voice filled with sincerity. "I’ll make sure to keep you all in the loop moving forward."

Kira’s voice broke through the quiet atmosphere as the weariness settled in. Her yawn was contagious, and it seed everyone else shared the sa sentint.

"Shall we finally call it a night?" Kira asked with a hint of eagerness, her voice tinged with exhaustion. "We can continue this discussion later."

In unison, the group nodded, their tired expressions reflecting their agreent. It had been a long day, filled with unexpected twists and turns.

Completing the patrol could wait until tomorrow, when they were refreshed and ready to face the challenges ahead. As they dispersed, their footsteps growing lighter and their voices fading, the night reclaid its peace.

The moon cast its gentle glow upon the weary souls, offering them a sense of peace and renewal. It was ti to recharge, find solace in dreams, and awaken with renewed vigour when the sun rose on the horizon once again.
