Off to the side, after checking the computer, the sales assistant approached and said, “Miss Bai, the dress you ordered is ready. Please take a seat here while I get it for you.”
“Thank you.”
Ye Xingguang was surprised, “Mom, when did you order a dress for ?”
Bai Lanwu said, “I ordered it for you over the phone before you graduated from college. It’ll be good to try it on tonight. If you don’t like its fit, we can have it remade.”
“Oh.”
Soon, the sales assistant had soone roll out three mobile clothing racks. Three evening gowns on the racks not only caught Ye Xingguang’s eye but also those of Xia Yanyan and Pan Huaiyun standing nearby. The dresses were just too beautiful.
Xia Yanyan thought that one of the dresses was perfect for her to wear at her upcoming engagent party with the Ye’s family.
Pan Huaiyun felt that one of the dresses would be perfectly suited for the day her father assud the presidency.
Ye Xingguang, on the other hand, believed that one of the evening gowns would be perfect as recompense for the president’s wife.
The sales assistant said, “Miss Bai, the three gowns you ordered are here. As for fittings, we offer complintary makeovers to enhance the look of the dress on you.”
Bai Lanwu stood in front of the three dresses and nodded approvingly, “Just do a simple hairdo for my daughter. She is already very beautiful.”
The assistant looked at Ye Xingguang and agreed, “Your daughter’s beauty likely outshines any movie star. A simple hairdo would be incomparable on an ordinary person. Miss, please follow .”
Xingguang said, “There’s no need, it’s too much of a hassle. I’ll just try it on as is.”
As expected of any girl, Ye Xingguang was eager to try on the beautiful dress imdiately.
Bai Lanwu chuckled, “As you wish, your mother will be waiting here.”
As Ye Xingguang took the dress to change, Xia Yanyan, unable to contain herself, walked up to Bai Lanwu, “Ma’am, could you sell this dress to ? Whatever price you na, I am willing to buy.”
Bai Lanwu sat on a nearby couch, accepting tea from the sales assistant, and replied with an elegant smile, not uttering a word.
Pan Huaiyun also said, “Aunt, I have my eyes set on this dress. Could you sell it to ? I’m willing to pay ten tis the cost you’ve customized it for. What do you think?”
After a sip of her chrysanthemum tea, Bai Lanwu politely refused, “I’m sorry, young lady, my family does not need the money.”
Of course, Xia Yanyan and Pan Huaiyun knew that those who could afford to have clothes made at this store were not lacking in wealth. But a price can’t be put on a person’s longing, so they gave it one more shot after a quick exchange of glances.
Xia Yanyan asked the assistant, “Does the store have another one of this dress?”
The assistant replied, “Miss Xia, as you well know, our shop policy is that all dresses are custom-made. The designer never replicates a design or even makes similar styles. Each dress is unique. Would you like to order another? Trust , every creation of our designer is a masterpiece.”
However, Xia Yanyan, looking at the dress on the rack, couldn’t take her eye off it, “I only want this one. Why don’t you sell this one first? I’m willing to pay ten tis the price. Ownership of the dress should still be with the store before it’s handed over to the custor, shouldn’t it?”
