"What stirred up your anger so early this morning, hmm?" Luke’s soothing yet alluring voice interrupted her thoughts as he carefully placed a bowl of steaming wonton soup in front of her. He gazed directly into her eyes, waiting attentively to hear what had upset her.
Hera chuckled softly. "It wasn’t actually anything bad." As she spoke, the enticing aroma of the wonton soup drifted into her nostrils, instantly stimulating her appetite. Luke noticed her reaction with a soft chuckle, choosing not to press further on the topic she had casually dismissed. Instead, he returned to the kitchen to fetch the Chinese breakfast he had prepared for her.
When Luke noticed Hera’s enjoynt of these dishes on the variety show, he took the ti to study their cooking processes by scanning through a cookbook. This was his first attempt at cooking them himself, and he was pleasantly surprised by how well they turned out. Seeing Hera enjoy the food just as much made him genuinely happy.
He had never cooked for anyone before; like his friends, he grew up being pampered and catered to by his parents and those around him. He had always believed the world should revolve around him. Despite their differing passions and aspirations, he found kindred spirits in his friends. There was a connection among them, shaping their actions and thoughts in similar ways.
While Luke appeared amiable and approachable, there was an underlying arrogance and domineering deanor typical of a first male lead. This facet of his personality was deliberately crafted to showcase character developnt not only for him but for all the male leads in the novel, highlighting how only the female lead could influence and shape them.
Hera thoroughly enjoyed the food Luke had cooked. She couldn’t help but assu that as soone seemingly living on his own, he must cook for himself often, explaining his culinary skills. Enthralled by the deliciousness of the al, she barely put her spoon down, offering Luke a thumbs-up as she continued to relish the wanton soup. Luke, sitting beside her, happily served her more food to enjoy.
Luke’s eyes crinkled in satisfaction as he watched Hera relish the result of his efforts. He felt a surge of desire to tenderly tuck away Hera’s hair, a gesture he had seen Leo and Xavier perform during their al on the variety show. However, Hera had tied her hair up, leaving only her bangs loose, which he couldn’t tuck in.
He found solace in the fact that Hera was genuinely enjoying the food he had prepared, and it brought him satisfaction to see her happy. Watching her eat so contentedly made him realize he was hungry too, and he began to eat as well. Today, he felt more hungry than usual; typically, he only drank vegetable juice before work and often skipped breakfast, preferring to eat his lunch early instead.
It beca a habit for him to skip breakfast, believing it made him more productive in the mornings and allowed him to focus better. Over ti, he lost his appetite in the mornings altogether, preferring to eat an early lunch and dinner. This routine also ensured he wouldn’t face the discomfort of drinking on an empty stomach during business etings or social engagents later in the day. Moreover, it allowed him the option to retire early if he chose to do so.
But seeing Hera happily enjoying her al in front of him, he found himself tempted to indulge in a few more bowls of food. Everything seed to taste even more delicious than he rembered from earlier.
Hera realized she had forgotten to take a picture of the delicious food Luke had prepared, but she felt it wouldn’t be right to keep such a delightful al to herself. After finishing her al, she snapped a picture of the empty bowls and plate before posting it on her social dia. Luke didn’t mind and actually felt validated by her gesture, which brought a smile to his face as he watched her happily typing away on her phone. In that mont, she seed to embody a girl her age—innocent and pure, montarily shielded from the harshness of the world.
She shared the photo on her social dia with the caption: "Couldn’t even wait to snap a pic before diving in—this al was absolutely worth it!"
Ding!
The mont she posted it, Luke’s phone buzzed with a notification. Curious, he checked it and saw Hera’s social dia post from early in the morning. He smiled as he admired the clean, marble-like gray ceramic bowls and plate in the picture. What made him even happier was spotting his own hand resting on the table in the fra.
Hera seed to have overlooked it, her attention solely on the empty plate on the table. The setting appeared different from her penthouse dining area, sparking curiosity among her followers. Many speculated that the elegant hand visible in the photo belonged to a man, possibly one of the suitors or rumored sugar daddies shown in a picture circulating earlier that morning.
[IamGod: Is that a man’s hand? It looks so sculpted and beautiful, like a piece of art.]
[Heraismysister: If I could have such handso and caring sugar daddies, sign up! Forget modesty and virtue!]
[AuntieNextDoor: Hey, sister above. Hold your horses! You might mislead everyone into thinking that my sister Hera is really that kind of person with many n. But I have to agree with you. Who among us hasn’t dread of being surrounded by such handso specins? Ψ( `▽ ´)Ψ]
[PasserbyGod: Oh Daddy!! I’m turning gay too! )]
[JustReading: She must be eating at his house. Was this a breakfast date? And who cooked? グッ]
[GoldenLight: Please, don’t exaggerate it, I only cooked a simple al for a friend.]
Luke replied to the comnts, pretending it was nothing, though inside he was floating with pride. He knew once the other five saw it, they would turn green with envy. ’Serves them right for being so slow,’ he smirked to himself, setting his phone aside. Hera had stood up to put away the dishes, and Luke didn’t stop her. This way, she could feel more at ho, and they could act like a couple sharing equal responsibilities, happily coexisting.
He could only be pleased with this developnt for now. He had heard about Dave’s thoughtless actions these past few days, or perhaps they made him confess on his own before things turned ugly.
Dave had no choice but to confess, and his recorded admission was sent to their group chat as evidence. Everyone heard how he had stayed and climbed into Hera’s bed, how he acted during their lunch at the hotel with Leo, and how he behaved in front of Hera at the hospital. They chided Dave for acting so childish and impatient, especially since he was the last one to know her.
The one who chided and roasted Dave the most was Xavier who has been doing his best to slightly get closer to Hera little by little without trying to be so annoying, yet Dave acted so immature and so possessive right off the bat. Everyone wanted to have a piece of his at at that ti after finding out.
Dave admitted to his actions, explaining that being the last to know Hera made him impatient. He feared being left behind by his capable friends and only "eating their dust," as he put it.
