Maria said nonchalantly, "It’s just a man. How can he compare to family? I wouldn’t fight with my family over a man."

Avery blinked. She couldn’t believe Maria was like that. Avery had seen how much Maria loved romance dramas. Since Maria started working very young, Avery thought Maria wanted to fall in love and get married as soon as possible. She had expected Maria to end up listening to her family’s opinion but secretly cry and indulge in self-pity after so thought.

Avery was still worried. "Don’t you think it’s disrespectful if your family ddles too much and doesn’t respect your feelings and freedom?"

This ti, it was Maria who blinked in surprise. "No way. Even if my family wants to die, it must be for my own good. Why would I refuse them?"

Avery’s eyelids twitched when she heard that. She quickly waved her hands. "No. If your family or soone else wants you to die, you must resist, got it? You must escape or call the police."

However, Maria said seriously, "No one in this world treats better than my family. No matter what my family wants to do, they are true to ." Maria poked herself in the head and added embarrassedly, "As you know, I’m dumb. I didn’t study much and don’t know much. I don’t think too deeply about many things. I might as well listen to my family. At least they won’t harm ."

Avery was speechless. She thought, ’Wow, I can’t believe Mom and Dad are so capable. They’ve got their children’s full respect and complete trust.’

A few seconds later, Avery said, "If I interfere in your private matters, will you be angry with ?"

"No," Maria rubbed her nose and said embarrassedly. "Avery, you’re so good and so smart. No matter what you do, it will make sense. I trust you."

Since Maria had already said so, Avery did not stand on ceremony. She imdiately opened her phone and showed Maria the conversation between Dwayne and her. "Take your ti and think about it. I think Dwayne is seducing through you. He wants to get close to a rich and beautiful woman like so he can cut out years of hard work."

Maria was shocked. She looked between the conversation and Avery a few tis before pulling a long face. "Hmph! This b**d not only wants to use , but he even dares to have designs on you. I won’t forgive him. I’m gonna call him and yell at him now."

Then, Maria paused and said, "Uh, I’ll scold him on issage. After that, I’ll block him and turn off my phone so he won’t be able to look up."

With that, Maria took out her phone from her bag. Avery quickly put her hand on Maria’s phone. "I suggest you read all the conversations between Dwayne and first, then recall the dramas you’ve watched. You can analyze if my words make sense before making a decision."

Maria sighed and waved her hand. "There’s no need to analyze it when soone smart like you has already analyzed it. Why would a st***id girl like do it again?"

Avery thought for a mont and said seriously, "But this is your business. Is it good for you to listen to everyone else? Besides, don’t you have a soft spot for Dwayne and think he was a good guy? Aren’t you grateful to him?"

Maria said, "I do have a good impression of him, but how can it compare to my family?" She showed Avery her phone screen. "Look, I’ve already scolded him and blocked him."

Avery looked at Maria’s phone. Maria had sent a row of "furious" emojis and wrote: [My sister is smart. She can tell at a glance what you’re up to. I didn’t expect you to be such a person. I’m really disappointed. I’ll blacklist you. I hope I never see you again. Stop harassing my sister. You’re not good enough for her.]

Maria waited for Avery to finish reading before turning off her phone. She snorted. "I’ll change my phone number tomorrow so he won’t be able to find again."

Avery blinked at how straightforward and decisive Maria was acting. She decided that her judgnt was not always 100% accurate.

Maria put away her phone and returned to her normal self. She said uneasily, "Avery, I’m inexperienced this ti. I misjudged Dwayne. I’ll be more careful next ti."

"That’s not a problem," Avery raised her hand. "I’m just very touched that you believe . However, I still have to tell you why I think there’s sothing wrong with Dwayne."

Avery began listing all the problems. "Dwayne’s very kind and passionate to you, but he is always looking at . Not only does he stare at my face and chest, but he also looks enviously at my clothes, bag, and shoes. He said he was once admitted to Rosemont University, but because his family was poor, he couldn’t attend university and had no choice but to work. This is a lie.

"Rosemont University is one of the four major universities. If soone from a poor family in the country could get into such a university, his family would see it as an honor. They would send him to school at any cost."

"If his family can’t raise enough tuition fees even if they sell everything they have, he can also apply for a student loan. The school and society will support him. People like him who can’t afford to study at a prestigious university because their families are poor don’t exist."

"Oh, I see. That makes sense," Maria looked at Avery with admiration and kept nodding.

Avery continued, "Furthermore, Dwayne said he bought a house in Rosemont City and is going to open a styling studio. I’ve checked. He doesn’t have a house here at all. He’s living with a rich woman now. He’s also persuading other rich won to fund his studio."

Maria was shocked. "What? How can Dwayne do that? That’s disgusting."

Avery said, "I’ve asked the coffee shop about returning your salary. The manager said Dwayne gave her the money and asked her to transfer it to you in the na of giving you back your salary." She looked at Maria. "Do you know why Dwayne is so kind?"

Maria thought about it for a while before replying in shock, "Does he intend to tell the truth in the future so I’d like him more?"

"I think so," Avery nodded. "Therefore, almost nothing Dwayne says is true. You can’t trust him."

"Wow. Now that you ntion it, it’s terrifying," Maria patted her chest. "This s***bag is too cu***ng. He’s as sly as the villain in the dramas. If you weren’t smart, I would have fallen for his trap."

A thought occurred to her. She said grumpily, "I must give Dwayne his money back, but I don’t want to get him off the blacklist."

Avery waved her phone. "I just transferred $120 to him and blocked him."

"Thanks," Maria said gratefully. "I’ll return the $120 to you now."

Avery smiled. "No need."

"No, I must pay you back," Maria said seriously. "Treating, borrowing, giving, and helping are different. I should pay you back."

Avery did not insist. She accepted the money transferred from Maria and asked, "Aren’t you going for a physical examination tomorrow? You’ve fallen out with Dwayne now. Are you still going to work at the hair salon he introduced you to tomorrow?"

"I’m not going," Maria shook her head. "There are jobs everywhere. If I’m not picky, I’ll find a job."

Only then did Avery ask about another matter. "Didn’t you submit your drafts to design studios last ti? How did that go?"

Maria sighed dejectedly. "I really don’t have any talent in design. I’ve applied to six or seven studios and design companies, but so far, none of them have replied to ."

Avery shook her head and asked, "Do you intend to give up on jewelry design then?"
