That night, many people couldn’t fall asleep on ti. Louis was busy making calls and sending ssages, instructing his subordinates to imdiately deal with the online rumors surrounding Alexander.
When Alexander overheard that the matter involved Avery, he casually picked up his tablet to see what was circulating online. It didn’t take long for all the gossip about him and Avery to be wiped clean from the internet, preventing any new posts from gaining traction. However, he ca across nurous exposés about the Carter family:
Rosemont Whisperer:
The Carter family is really ssy. Wesley and Claire are only in their early fifties, yet they have eight children. The youngest, only four or five years old, returned to the Carter family just over a year ago, supposedly an illegitimate child.
Rosemont Insider:
It seems like their sixth child is also an illegitimate child; she looks nothing like the rest of the family.
Scoop Squad:
I heard the eldest son of the Carter family was once married, but on the day of the wedding, the bride ran off. He has been hiding out in the countryside ever since.
Rosemont Whisperer:
There are rumors that the second son left the country illegally and hasn’t contacted the family in three years. The Carter family claims he’s studying abroad, but how could a family as poor as theirs afford overseas education?
Rosemont Insider:
I heard the third son went to prison for both robbery and sexual assault.
Alexander frowned slightly at what he saw. Rumors about the Carter family were swirling, and soone was clearly pulling the strings behind the scenes. The Carter family was too low-profile to have offended any powerful figures, so it was obvious the mastermind was targeting Avery.
"Mr. Moran, should I go ahead and wipe out these rumors too?" Louis’s voice suddenly broke the silence.
Startled, Alexander looked up to see Louis standing by his side, peering at the tablet in his hand. His eyes, glinting behind his glasses, gave away the fact that he had seen right through Alexander’s thoughts.
With a stoic expression, Alexander replied calmly, "There’s no rush. Let’s see how Avery handles this. If she can manage it, we don’t need to intervene. If not, we’ll step in later."
Louis adjusted his glasses, giving Alexander a knowing look. "Mr. Moran, are you testing Miss Carter’s capabilities?" He was beginning to realize there was more to Avery than t the eye. Yet, despite digging around, he couldn’t quite figure her out.
Alexander nodded. "Keep an eye on her."
Louis’s glasses glimred as he responded, "Alright."
anwhile, Avery, after closing her eyes in thought for a few minutes, dialed Harry’s number.
"Honey, miss already?" Harry’s voice drawled lazily from the other end.
"I’ve completed the renovation plan for your family’s duplex and have already hired the workers. We’ll start as soon as I get the green light from your father tomorrow. In three months, your family will be able to move into their new ho."
Lately, Harry had been managing the affairs at Bard Property. According to his plan, he intended to compensate the Carter family for the company’s delays in handing over the house and the issues with water leakage by offering a free renovation for their new ho.
Avery didn’t have any objections to this plan, but this ti, she had a different request. She said, "Sothing ca up at ho, and they can’t stay there anymore. We can’t wait until the new place is ready. I want to give them the villa at Mid-Level Mountain Garden, but I can’t let them know it’s from , so I need your help with—"
Before she could finish, Harry chuckled. "That’s easy. Tomorrow I’ll have soone call your dad and tell him the unfinished house at Bard Garden is beyond repair. As compensation, we’ll offer them a villa in Mid-Level Mountain Garden."
"That works," Avery replied. "Though considering the market value of that villa is over 40 million dollars, it wouldn’t make sense to just give it to them like that. I plan to handle it this way."
She explained her plan in detail to Harry.
"Darling, with your status, you really don’t need to worry about such minor details," Harry remarked dismissively. "But it’s your call. I’ll send soone to clean up the villa tonight and throw in so nice second-hand furniture so your family can move in right away."
"Thank you," Avery said appreciatively. "And there’s one more thing. My sister, who works at Sweet Brew on adow Road, is being mobbed by influencers. Can you send soone to get her out?"
"No problem, I’ll go pick her up myself and teach those influencers a lesson while I’m at it," Harry agreed. "Don’t worry, I’ll play the role of a hero standing up for justice. I won’t expose my identity."
Avery chuckled. "I trust you."
She hung up and walked into her studio, booting up her quantum computer. She stretched her neck, twisted her hips, and cracked her knuckles.
"Dark Matter is online," Avery uttered, her voice as cold as steel. Her lips curled into a chilling smile as she began typing away on the keyboard.
She was writing a virus designed to target a series of keywords related to her and the Carter family mbers, such as "Avery Carter," "Top Student of West End," and "Top SAT Scorer of West End," along with "Wesley Carter" and "Claire Carter."
The virus would deploy countless "minions," scouring the web for articles and comnts containing those keywords. Once detected, it would corrupt the content, turning it into gibberish or deleting it. The virus would also trace the origin of these posts, attacking the computers of those who posted, downloaded, or saved them, causing the system to crash or freeze. Once the targets were eliminated, the virus would self-destruct, leaving no trace behind.
By the end of the night, every post and article about the Carter family would be wiped from the internet, and those responsible would pay the price.
While Avery was wreaking havoc on the internet, Zoe was lounging in front of her computer with a face mask on, sipping caral macchiato and gleefully watching the Carter family’s scandals go viral.
Hmph, I may not be able to beat her, but I can definitely ruin her family, Zoe thought with a sneer.
"Everyone knows where her family lives now. Does she think they can still live in peace? In the days to co, people will swarm around her family’s house and restaurant. Her family won’t be able to make a living anymore, and they’ll be cornered wherever they go."
"And don’t forget, every woman in this country wants to marry Alexander. Does she think that hooking up with him will elevate her status, taking her from rags to riches? What a joke. I’ll keep spreading rumors about her and Alexander until everyone in Rosemont City and the whole country believes the two of them are involved!"
Zoe wanted to make Avery the public enemy of every woman, to be shunned by high society, and to make her life a living hell.
She chuckled coldly as she imagined Avery’s downfall, thinking to herself, ’They all say she’s so kind of untouchable goddess. I can’t wait to see her fall from grace, struggling as so rich man’s plaything, only to be discarded later. When that happens, I’ll write a biography so everyone knows what a joke she really is!’
