Avery stood at the side of the door after entering the study. When Catherine entered, she closed the door.

Catherine looked around the study and sat down on the leather chair. She put her left leg on her right leg and put on a sexy and elegant posture. She said with a smile, "Avery, why do you have a problem with ?"

Avery leaned against the window, crossed her arms, and looked at her calmly. "You acted like you were very good to our family in the past, but after Zilvia disappeared, you left. There has been no news from you for more than ten years.

"What right do you have to say that you treat the Carter family very well? Why do you think my family will be grateful or fond of you?"

Catherine, who did not expect her to bring up such a sensitive topic, was slightly stunned. Then, she looked straight at Avery. "Avery, regarding Zilvia’s disappearance, I was as sad as every one of the Carter family. I tried my best to find her. Do you believe ?" Avery was smiling, but her gaze was cold. "Of course I believe you.

"After all, Zilvia is the goddaughter you nurtured ticulously. You placed all your hopes and dreams on her, hoping for her success so that she could let you live a luxurious life.

"Your efforts were brought to naught by Zilvia’s sudden disappearance. Your hope was gone, so of course you were devastated."

Catherine’s pupils suddenly constricted when she heard that. Shock flashed across her eyes, but her tone was calm and carried a hint of accusation. "Avery, how can you say that about ?

"After your mother gave birth to you and Zilvia, she was in a bad condition. I was the one taking care of Zilvia. I believe no one can go against their conscience and say that I didn’t take good care of Zilvia."

Catherine continued after a slight pause, "Also, you’re so knowledgeable. You should know how hard it is to take care of babies and children."

"Don’t you feel guilty for denying and distorting the fact that I took care of Zilvia?"

"It was indeed not easy for you to take care of Zilvia," Avery said calmly. "But this is how the investnt works. If you don’t want to invest in the early stages, how can you get a generous "It’s just that you were too successful in training Zilvia."

Avery’s lips curled into a mocking smile. "So successful that she couldn’t wait to grow up and leave you. She left the Carter family and ran to the exciting world to make your investnt go down the drain."

"Avery!" Catherine shouted as if she had been greatly insulted. She suddenly stood up and said angrily, "You don’t know , and you don’t understand my relationship with Zilvia. What right do you have to slander like this?"

"You know very well whether I’m slandering you or not." Avery was completely unaffected by Catherine’s imposing manner. She said coldly, "You’re already very rich, yet you suddenly returned and ca to the Carter family. You even want to settle down in the family. This ans that you know how rich the Carter family is and how much richer than you."

"Since you know this, it ans that you’ve been paying attention to the Carter family for at least this period of ti." Well, then, you must have read "The Mystery of the Missing Genius Girl.’

Catherine’s face was gloomy, and her eyes flickered. She seed to be thinking quickly, but she was still very calm. "Zayn’s movie and anti-terrorism video have almost spread all over the world. Of course, I read it."

"After reading it, I was very concerned about our family, so I went online to search for our family matters and found out about the novel you ntioned.

""What’s strange about it?"

Avery revealed a faint smile and her eyes beca sharp. "Others might not be able to tell, but you must be able to tell Zilvia wouldn’t leave ho at such a young age with a woman from a super-rich family without your guidance." Catherine was so shocked that her body trembled. She staggered back and almost fell when her feet touched the chair. Fortunately, she grabbed the armrest of the chair and did not fall in front of Avery.

"Avery, why do you hate ? Why are you criticizing like this?" Catherine said with a trembling voice. Her expression was mixed with fear and anger. "If I was the one who instigated Zilvia to leave, what good would it do ?"

"After Zilvia disappeared, the Carter family was indeed in trouble. I didn’t want the Carter family to be distracted by taking care of Maria, so I took Maria back to the poor mountain village and suffered a lot.

"Tell , what was in it for ?"

"You didn’t directly tell Zilvia to leave the Carter family," Avery said, her voice sharp and cold. "Instead, from the mont you started raising her, you made her believe that ordinary, uneventful life wasn’t worth living-that she had to break free from the dullness of the everyday, chase after excitent and luxury, and beco soone powerful and wealthy."

Catherine froze, stunned by Avery’s words. She stared at her in disbelief, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Avery, we just first t..." Catherine’s voice cracked as tears stread down her cheeks. "What gives you the right to accuse like this?"

But Avery was unmoved by her tears or her grief. She continued speaking as if she hadn’t heard Catherine at all. "Zilvia was just five years old-a little girl who’d known nothing but a safe, peaceful life. She was well-fed, well-loved, and had never experienced hardship or pain."

"So tell , why would a child like that suddenly decide her ho life was boring? What could make her yearn for the glittering, bustling world outside?"

Catherine’s tears flowed freely now. "What are you trying to do? Take your anger out on ? Or are you just trying to show off how clever you are, like so kind of genius detective?"

Avery gave her a faint smile, calm and unbothered. "No matter how bright a child might be, her understanding of the world cos entirely from what she sees, hears, or experiences. Her thoughts are shaped by the boundaries of her knowledge."
