Lindsay looked at Brandon in shock. She could not believe that she fought for him, he used "break up" or even "cut ties" to force her to apologize.
Is our relationship so insignificant that you can warn using these? she thought.
"Brandon... Her eyes reddened, tears shimring faintly. "You struggled so much abroad and nearly lost your life. Don’t you resent them at all?"
"You’re suffering while your family is enjoying life. You... I’ve made myself very clear." Brandon interrupted her. "If you keep changing the topic, I’ll take it as you refusing to apologize, and you and I are over..."
"I’m feeling sorry for you!" Lindsay cried before Brandon could finish. "Am I wrong to feel sorry for you? And can’t you feel sorry for yourself?" Brandon frowned. "Lindsay, I just don’t understand." Lindsay said crying. "Your family doesn’t understand you or care about you at all, Why do you still consider them the most important people to you?"
She pointed to the cat in Josie’s arms. "When you were in Acloria, you were bitten by a stray cat with rabies while disposing of garbage on your way to work at night. You needed to get vaccinated imdiately and out of desperation, you asked for money for the first ti."
"That incident not only caused you to have a phobia of cats but also made , soone who once loved cats, start hating them."
"But they don’t know all this." She pointed to each mber of the Carter family, crying harder. They don’t even know you almost died, and they’re keeping a cat in the house.
"Why are you defending them like this? For what?"
Josie hugged Dolli tightly and hid behind Maria.’ Dolli didn’t do anything wrong, it’s not going to take the bla,’ Josie thought.
"Lindsay, don’t you understand yet?" Brandon was not moved by her words. He spoke firmly, "Everything that happened was my own choice!"
"I chose to study in Aeloria. I chose not to tell my family anything."
"I chose not to take my family’s money. If sothing happens to , even if I die, I’ll be responsible for it. It has nothing to do with my family. They shouldn’t take any bla, especially your accusations and resentnt." Lindsay opened her mouth and still wanted to argue.
"Between you and my family, I choose my family," Brandon said sternly. "And it seems you’ve chosen to break up."
"I’ll apologize." Lindsay interrupted him, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. And as if she was using all her might, she bowed toward Avery and the others. "It’s my fault. I apologize. I’m sorry."
After that, she grabbed her bag from the sofa and ran out, covering her mouth to stifle her sobs.
Everyone in the Carter family was stunned and looked at Brandon. Brandon ignored Lindsay and looked at them. "Are you willing to forgive her and accept her? Tell honestly."
All of the Carter family mbers were at a loss and did not know how to respond to Brandon.
Arthur cautiously asked, "Aren’t you going to chase after Lindsay
Brandon replied, "If you think what she did can be forgiven, I’ll forgive her. Otherwise, I’ll break up with her"
Everyone fell silent. Brandon’s words put a lot of pressure on them. Arthur could not help but ask, "Putting us aside, will you forgive her?"
Brandon was silent for a few monts before saying, "Honestly, I’m exceptionally angry, and I really feel like breaking up with her. But the misunderstanding she has about our family is partly my fault..." He then trailed off. "Alright, I think I get it, Arthur said, raising his hands in surrender. "While she might have gone a little overboard with what she’s said, she isn’t entirely wrong. I forgive her."
Alaric patted his chest and added, "As a man, we need to be broad-minded and magnanimous. She’s apologized, so I won’t hold it against her."
Maria glanced at everyone and said, "I thought about it from her perspective. It’s understandable why she’s angry with our family. Now that things have been cleared up, I’m not mad at her anymore. "Moreover, if it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t have known how tough things were for you abroad."
Everyone subconsciously nodded in agreent.
Brandon turned to Josie. "What about you, Josie?"
Josie poked her head out from behind Maria and said, "Everyone forgives Lindsay, I’ll forgive her, too." Dolli in her arms owed.
Now, Avery was the last to vote. Everyone looked at her, a hint of nervousness flickering in their eyes that they might not have even noticed. Her vote was crucial.
Avery took a few sips of coffee, calmly saying, "Brandon, whether you forgive her is entirely up to you. You don’t need to be influenced by ."
"I’m certain she truly cares about you and has stood by you during your toughest tis, at least this ti. I can understand and I forgive her." Everyone quietly heaved a sign of relief.
Brandon, however, was still suspicious. "Do you all really forgive her? Or are you just being overly nice, trying to play peacemakers because you don’t want to be the ones to break up relationship?"
Everyone was lost for words, Arthur, with a bitter expression, said ’Brandon, it’s normal that young couples quarrel. You shouldn’t always jump and ntion breaking up or cutting ties whenever you quarrel. You’ll end up single for your life." Alaric added seriously, "Brandon, you’re almost thirty now. You should handle relationships and your girlfriend maturely. Don’t act like a teenager who threatens to break up whenever you quarrel."
"Shut up!" Brandon glared at them. "You two, who haven’t even had girlfriends, don’t lecture about relationships."
Arthur and Alaric were speechless, and thought, "It’s not that we don’t have girlfriends because we’re unqualified or bad-mannered. Many beautiful girls like us, but we just don’t feel like dating."
Maria hesitated briefly and said, "Brandon, you should go after Lindsay and explain things to her. Don’t feel like it’s embarrassing for a man to take the first step."
"I know." Brandon took a deep breath, "I’ll talk to her now and explain our family situation." He then left.
Maria patted her chest, relieved, "When Brandon had nothing, Lindsay was the one who stayed by his side. Unless there’s a really big issue, I hope their relationship will last." Everyone nodded in agreent.
Brandon did not return until 10:00 p.m. By then, Wesley and Claire had already returned ho. They had also heard about Lindsay’s matter. Concerned, they asked. "Have you had your dinner? Do you want us to cook you so spaghetti?"
Tve eaten with Lindsay." Brandon shook his head and sat on the couch. "I’ve explained our family situation to her, and she understands now. She knows she’s at fault."
"That’s good," Claire nodded. "Whether you want to continue your relationship with her is entirely up to you; I won’t interfere.
"However, I’m truly grateful to her for taking care of you and helping you during those difficult years abroad."
Wesley added, "Set up a ti to formally invite her over. Your Mom and I will prepare sothing special and invite the whole family to et her properly."
Brandon smiled, "Let’s arrange it before Christmas, when Zayn, our eldest brother, Jaden, and our grandparents are back from the old ho. We can have a good family gathering. "
Wesley, thinking of sothing, asked, "By the way, what’s Lindsay’s family background? She’s from Rosemont City, right?"
"Yes, she is, replied Brandon. "Her father is a forr senior officer about to retire. She’s an only child, but her extended family is huge, and most of them are in politics."
Everyone exchanged looks. For soone with Brandon’s temper, it was remarkable that all the won he dated were from such wealthy and influential families. But then again, it made sense.
Brandon was talented and ambitious. He also attended the best schools. Naturally, he was surrounded by elites. He was handso, had a personality, and relied on his abilities rather than associate with the powerful and influential to seek personal gains. It was normal that won of status and talent were drawn to him.
"However, can such remarkable and well-connected won truly tolerate Brandon’s fiery temper?’ wondered everyone.
