After Avery received Joy’s report and the departnt’s feedback, she thought about it all night and sent the departnt a photo of prehistoric stone carvings.

"I’ll give her a week. Let her co back with the anings of the patterns on the stone carvings. As long as she can explain the symbolic anings of these patterns, I will accept her as my student."

She then put Joy’s matter aside and revised Zayn’s script, The Last Blood, for the final ti.

The Last Blood was the na Zayn had given the script. It ant shedding the last drop of blood for the country. She felt the na was good and decided not to change it.

The script told the story of a scientist from Osceiton who had mastered the core technology of aircraft carriers. He was kidnapped by spies and foreign agents and taken to a chaotic, complex, and dangerous region where the borders of three countries intersected. They planned to smuggle him into an enemy state.

The nation, unable to act officially, secretly assigned the recently retired protagonist, Lawrence, and a team of others to rescue the scientist.

Throughout the mission, Lawrence and the team faced nurous deadly challenges and ultimately brought the scientist and the critical secrets back ho.

The film was a comrcial blockbuster that delivered intense excitent and satisfaction to audiences. But its core ssage and spirit ran deeper than surface-level thrills. Avery sent the revised script to Zayn.

"I’ve revised it. Take a look and see if you’re satisfied. If not, I’ll revise it again."

Ten minutes later, she received a call from Zayn.

Zayn, who was usually calm, sounded extraordinarily excited.

"Avery, you did an excellent job!

I’ve only read the first three pages and I can’t help but praise it! Although I haven’t read many scripts, I believe this is the best I’ve co across."

Then he added, "I don’t have any changes to make right now—and I don’t think I’ll need to in the future."

Avery smiled faintly.

"Zayn, no matter how good my writing is, it can only shine if the core and the story are solid. If the story doesn’t work, even the best writing can’t hide the emptiness and dullness of the plot," she said.

Zayn let out a rare hearty laugh.

"Well said! As for the revised script... thank you. Don’t worry. I definitely won’t let you down."

He said confidently, "I will definitely make this movie great—to show everyone who fought in that battle... to show everyone the courage and spirit of our soldiers."

Avery wanted to ask if he was planning to direct the project himself, or if he needed her help finding investors. But in the end, she didn’t ask. She simply said,

"Yes, I believe this movie will be a huge success."

I must believe in my brothers. Even without , they can get the job done, she thought.

A week had passed since she completed the script, and she received the assignnt Joy had submitted to Franco. Joy’s analysis was quite simple. It roughly stated:

"These patterns appear to be a code consisting of two parts. One points to the location of a prehistoric treasure, and the other to celestial—or rather, cosmic—coordinates. So of the patterns are worn or unclear, making the information incomplete."

"Additionally, these codes are likely just a part of the complete information. In other words, we need to find other patterns—codes—piece them together, and fully decode them to uncover the complete ssage."

She concluded,

"I can only analyze the aning of these patterns based on the knowledge I currently have. I can’t decipher the exact symbolism or aning of each, which is why I hope to study under you, Professor Xander."

"It’s really scary," Avery muttered as she looked at the assignnt. "She can actually see so much.

Does she really only know the rough aning of these patterns, as she says?"

After thinking for a while, she replied to Joy via email:

"Are you so interested in prehistoric civilization because you want to obtain the so-called prehistoric treasure?"

Joy replied,

"I’m not short on money. I don’t pursue fa or status. I just really enjoy solving prehistoric puzzles. They’re full of challenges and give a strong sense of accomplishnt."

Avery responded,

"I find your answer very interesting. I’ve already inford the departnt that I’ve decided to accept you."

Joy replied with several smiley faces:

"I’m very happy and deeply honored. May I ask when I can see you in person—or participate in prehistoric archaeology with you again?"

Avery replied,

"Please wait for the notification." After that, she didn’t reply again.

At the campus, news of Franco’s decision to accept Joy caused a stir in the entire Departnt of History.

"Professor Xander personally said that he wouldn’t take on any apprentices or students. At most, he might allow a few exceptionally outstanding students to join archaeological trips or give them private lessons. I didn’t expect him to make an exception this ti."

"I can only say Joy is truly exceptional. She’s so impressive that even Professor Xander couldn’t turn her down."

"Joy is beautiful, talented, and adores Professor Xander. Do you think there might be... romantic chemistry between them?"

"You’re overthinking it. Professor Xander is an archaeology fanatic. I bet he’d fall in love with a prehistoric woman’s fossil before a real-life woman."

In any case, Joy beca Franco’s only graduate student.

Franco didn’t give Joy any special treatnt. He never contacted her first. However, if Joy had questions, she could email "him," and "he" would usually reply.

Avery could tell Joy was very eager—eager to get to know Franco and to uncover the mysteries of prehistoric civilization. Avery believed it was ti to gradually uncover Joy’s true intentions.

In late September, she told Joy,

"My team has discovered the ruins of a prehistoric civilization deep in the snowy mountains. After the National Day holiday, I’ll be leading a team to the area for archaeological work. The return date is uncertain. You should co with us.

Before then, make sure you’re fully prepared."

Joy quickly replied,

"Yes."

To avoid raising Joy’s suspicions, Avery inford her family a week in advance,

"I’m planning to go to the National Aerospace and Aviation Base to study. I’ll likely be there for two to three months. Since much of the work there is classified, I may have to cut off contact with the outside world. If you can’t reach , please don’t worry."

Everyone exchanged glances. After a mont, one of them said,

"It sounds like sothing quite impressive."

Avery smiled and replied,

"It is quite impressive."

Claire said,

"Go ahead. Tonight, I’ll prepare so ingredients for you to take along."

As always, Avery made sure to treat Alexander to a al before setting off on a long trip.

Although it was almost eight in the evening, when Alexander received her ssage, he said,

"I’m heading to Rosemont City now. I hope it won’t disturb Miss Carter’s rest tonight."

Avery smiled.

"No, it won’t. I’ll wait for you."

Alexander quickly shut his laptop, grabbed his coat, and strode out.

On the way to Rosemont City, he asked Louis,

"How’s Sean Gordon’s recruitnt going?"
