Lindsay stared at the table, speechless.

Brandon had never spoken much about his family. Every ti the topic ca up, he quickly changed the subject.

She was also curious how Brandon could afford to dine at Carter’s Restaurant so often, considering the prices were not low.

Now, she was beginning to suspect that Brandon might not be a biological mber of the Carter family.

After a few seconds of silence, she forced a smile.

"Brandon doesn’t like to talk about family matters. We don’t even know what his family does," she explained.

Avery seed to be thinking about this for a mont.

"I see," she said thoughtfully. "He doesn’t like to talk about company matters either. When we ask him at ho, he always says everything is going well at the company."

Lindsay let out a helpless sigh and said,

"That’s just how he is. He handles everything on his own and doesn’t want others to worry about him."

Lindsay had so many questions she wanted to ask, but she was afraid she might ask sothing Brandon did not want others to know.

So, she politely said goodbye to Avery and returned to the private room.

Brandon, sitting beside her, had no idea what had happened downstairs. He could not see the scene and did not know that she had gone to speak with Avery.

As the al went on, Lindsay ate with a distracted mind.

After eating, she sat in the car and turned to her phone to search for news about the Carter family.

At that mont, the phone rang.

It was a call from her father.

Her father said,

"The batch of equipnt your company ordered has already been approved. I’ve also helped secure a tax deduction for you so that it can enter the country at any ti."

Lindsay responded gratefully,

"Dad, thank you."

The company imported a batch of advanced equipnt, including new and second-hand items, with a total price exceeding 16.6 million USD. Preparing it took half a year.

The approval process for importing these items was stringent, and completing each step took about a month.

She had asked her father for help, and the whole thing, including the tax break, was done in half a month.

"You’re my only daughter. If I don’t help you, who else could I help?" her father said kindly.

"But I still need to remind you that you’ve already applied for citizenship in Aeloria. No matter how hard it is to part with Brandon, you must rember to live in Aeloria regularly."

"I understand," Lindsay replied, a bit irritated.

"The company’s production base has already been completed. I shouldn’t be this busy once all the equipnt is installed and production begins. I’ll be able to travel between both places, living six months in each."

"As long as you know," her father sighed.

"You’ve done so much for Brandon. I hope he understands your good intentions and doesn’t take your feelings for granted."

"Dad, do not worry. He is a good man," Lindsay said confidently.

"When his career is successful, I will bring him to et you. That way, you will know I did not make the wrong choice."

Her father responded gently,

"Of course, I trust your judgnt. But while I support you, you need to understand as well. Do not wear yourself out for a man. It will only make your mother and sad if you do."

Lindsay sighed.

"Alright. I am going to rest now. I will not stay up late."

Her father added with concern,

"You should get so rest. If you get sick, it will break my heart."

After ending the call, Lindsay opened her phone and checked the search results.

As she scrolled through the information, she thought,

I would not have known if I had not looked, but I am shocked by what I see. Not only did the family run Carter’s Restaurant, but Brandon’s brother also took on several hundred acres of land in the countryside to start a farm. Brandon’s third brother was the hottest new celebrity, Zayn. Brandon’s fifth brother, Alaric, was a rising star in the internet industry. Brandon’s sixth sister, Maria, was a well-known jewelry designer. Was Brandon’s father the CEO of a real estate company? And Athen. Such a family could be considered a wealthy family, no?

However, Lindsay wondered why Brandon had not told her any of this.

He had lived as if everything at ho had nothing to do with him. It was as if he were disconnected from his family, enduring the hardships alone.

For a mont, Lindsay felt a mix of emotions in her heart. She could not tell if she was happy or sad.

Forget it. I had better not ask, she murmured to herself. I will just quietly stay by his side. When the ti is right, he will tell everything.

At this mont, Brandon, who had been staying at the company for a few days, finally returned ho.

As soon as he entered the house, he saw the entire family gathered in the living room, watching television.

He asked curiously,

"It’s almost ten at night. Josie, aren’t you going to sleep?"

Josie waved her hand at him, smiling brightly.

"Brandon, you’re back. I’m participating in the Star Quest 50-20 competition tomorrow night, and we’re watching the first half of the competition now."

"Oh, it’s already ti for Josie to be in the national semi-finals!" Brandon suddenly realized, feeling a bit apologetic.

He patted Josie’s head and said, "It’s all my fault for being too busy and forgetting the ti. I’ll be there to watch the competition tomorrow, no matter what."

"It’s alright," Josie said, showing consideration.

"Brandon, your job is more important. You don’t have to give it up to watch sing."

"You’re so thoughtful," Brandon said, giving her a hug.

"Thank you, Josie, for understanding. After this busy period, I’ll have ti and won’t need to stay at the company daily."

Brandon looked around.

"Is Alaric not back yet?"

Alaric had successfully graduated and was now a full-ti professional tennis player.

This sumr, he would participate in the tour, traveling from city to city, and even the family rarely saw him.

Arthur said,

"He wanted to co back, but the coach would not let him. He said it would affect the ga."

Josie raised her tiny hand.

"Alaric said that no matter where he is, he will watch the live broadcast and cheer for to sing well."

Brandon patted her head again.

"Are you nervous about the competition tomorrow night?"

"I am not nervous," Josie said, stroking Hello Kitty’s little head.

"Tomorrow night, Mum and Dad, my brother, Maria, and Avery will all go to the television station. And Hello Kitty will be with . I am not scared at all."

"Brave girl," Brandon said, patting her head.

"With your family around, you do not have to be scared of anything."

At that mont, a childish yet powerful and long-lasting opera began playing, catching everyone’s attention.

Everyone turned and looked at the television.
