Intrigued and alard, Avery delved deeper into the footage. The previous night, she discovered a disturbing scene. After her grandmother awakened, Micah had secretly slipped sothing into her grandmother’s drink. She also witnessed Isaac and his family entering the room the previous evening, with Isaac pulling the nurse aside to whisper sothing conspiratorial.

Rage consud Avery as the disturbing evidence unfolded. She imdiately demanded the nurse’s presence in the hospital room.

When the nurse entered, Avery confronted her with the footage. "My grandmother just woke up and told she overheard the Murphys discussing a substantial paynt to deceive . Confess now, or I’ll take this to the hospital administration and then to court."

The nurse, a middle-aged woman who relied on her high-paying job to support her family, looked terrified. She broke down and confessed everything.

"Miss Carter, I never ant to harm your grandmother. They’re her family; I never thought they would do anything to hurt her..."

Avery replied coldly, "It’s fortunate my grandmother is okay, or you’d be facing jail ti. Everyone must take responsibility for their actions. You should resign and make sure this never happens again."

The nurse wanted to plead further, but Avery’s steely gaze silenced her. She left the room, wiping away tears and apologizing as she went.

After closing the door, Avery carefully examined her grandmother again, checking her pulse and monitoring her vital signs. She adjusted her grandmother’s position for better comfort and ensured she was breathing steadily.

For two hours, Avery ticulously cared for her, administering the necessary dications and gently massaging her hands and feet to improve circulation. Gradually, she noticed a slight improvent in her grandmother’s complexion and a stabilization of her vital signs. Finally, Avery allowed herself to breathe a sigh of relief.

She sat down to enjoy the lunch the hospital had provided. However, she hadn’t finished eating when Harry sent her an update. At eight that morning, he had filed a defamation lawsuit against Isaac and Regina. The court accepted the case imdiately, and he sent a photo of the notice to Isaac.

Clearly rattled, Isaac bombarded Harry with ssages, apologizing and pleading for an out-of-court settlent. Harry, however, ignored him.

Avery responded to Harry with a "thumbs-up" emoji: [Well done.]

Harry replied with a "smug grin" emoji: [Of course, who do you think I am?]

Just as Avery was feeling satisfied with the turn of events, she received an unexpected ssage from Regina. The attached photo showed her grandmother lying in bed with her eyes closed, Isaac and Regina sitting beside her.

Regina’s ssage read:

[Avery, we visited your grandmother earlier. She woke up and, after hearing about the family situation, she’s made it clear that you must have Harry withdraw the lawsuit and persuade him to return the business to the Murphys. If you don’t, she refuses to stay in the hospital, and we’ll have no choice but to take her ho.]

Avery felt a surge of amusent as she read Regina’s frantic ssages. If only Regina knew that Avery was right there in her grandmother’s hospital room, fully aware of their sches thanks to the nurse’s confession. How shocked would she be? But Avery kept her silence. When it ca to her grandmother, she had to remain calm and not let the Murphy family see how much she truly cared.

While Avery stayed composed, Regina grew increasingly desperate, bombarding her with ssages:

[If you don’t agree, we’ll start the discharge process for your grandmother right now.]

[We’re not joking. I’m at the paynt desk as we speak.]

[After today, you’ll never see the grandmother who raised and loved you again.]

[If you’re so heartless, don’t expect an invitation to her funeral when she passes.]

Avery smirked. Who were they trying to scare?

Her grandmother was in the best room, receiving top-notch care, and had been in the hospital for quite so ti. The accumulated costs were in the millions. Avery had been covering these expenses. If the Murphys truly insisted on taking her grandmother away, they would have to foot the bill themselves.

The once-wealthy Murphy family might have brushed off such financial concerns, but in their current state of decline, Avery doubted they could manage it. She understood their psychology perfectly.

Soon, Regina’s tone softened considerably:

[Give us a one-year exclusive agency for V Group, and you can visit your grandmother anyti.]

Avery deliberately waited until evening to reply:

[Harry is interested in your property in East City. He’s planning to visit tomorrow.]

Regina responded imdiately:

[What do you an by that?]

Avery replied calmly:

[Transfer my grandmother’s guardianship to , and I’ll persuade Harry to drop the lawsuit and leave your East City property alone.]

Regina hesitated before countering:

[Add a one-year exclusive agency for V Group!]

Avery’s response was cold and firm:

[Harry said it’s non-negotiable.]

Regina tried to appeal to Avery emotionally:

[Don’t you care about your grandmother?]

Avery’s reply was blunt:

[Of course I do, which is why I’m willing to persuade Harry to drop the lawsuit and not go after your property.]

Regina’s ssages went silent. Half an hour later, she responded:

[We can accept your terms, but as her family, we have the right to know her health and living conditions and visit her anyti.]

Avery smirked. The Murphy family didn’t want to take care of her grandmother, yet they still wanted to use her as leverage. Their audacity was astounding.

She replied:

[You certainly have those rights, but Grandma needs peace and quiet for her recovery. Any visits must be approved by .]

After about fifteen minutes, Regina reluctantly replied:

[First, we want to visit Grandma twice a week.]

[Second, if she wants to see us or if anything happens, you must notify us imdiately and allow us to visit.]

Avery responded curtly:

[As long as Grandma wants to see you, you can visit anyti. Otherwise, no.]

This ti, Regina took a long ti to reply, likely consulting with a lawyer. Avery remained patient, willing to wait. An hour later, Regina finally relented:

[Agreed. When can we sign the contract?]

Avery replied:

[I’ll send a lawyer to et with you now.]

She then contacted Ryan to handle the paperwork. Ryan quickly drafted the agreent, first sending it to Isaac for his signature, then to Avery.

Wasting no ti, Avery completed the discharge process and transferred her grandmother to a reliable private hospital.

When Micah returned to the hospital and found the room empty, he was filled with regret, clutching his head and nearly in tears. How was he going to explain this to the Murphy family? Would they fire him in a fit of anger?

Fearful of the consequences, he hesitated for hours before finally calling Isaac. Isaac was furious over the phone. "You’re useless! A complete idiot! I should never have made you my assistant. You’re more trouble than you’re worth!"

anwhile, Regina hurriedly sent ssages to Avery, only to discover, to her fury, that Avery had blocked her. Isaac found himself blocked as well. The couple was left feeling helpless and frustrated.

Why was their luck so terrible, always being outmaneuvered by Avery?

On Avery’s end, after handling her grandmother’s situation, she felt a wave of relief. She lounged lazily on the sofa, opened her tablet, and reviewed a dical report from Freya.

The report read:

[Removing the bone fragnt without damaging the brain’s nerves is impossible. If surgery is not perford, the patient might survive another month or two. If surgery is perford, there’s a risk of imdiate brain death.]

Avery studied the brain scans intently. The most dangerous bone fragnt resembled a slender blade embedded in the brain, its edge perilously close to the venous sinus. Removing it manually without causing damage seed unrealistic.

She sighed softly, grabbing her cup of fruit tea and taking a sip. But the tea didn’t flow. Looking down, she realized a piece of fruit had blocked the bottom of the straw.

"Hmph, let’s see if my strong suction can get you out!"

She took a deep breath and sucked hard. The fruit moved slightly but got stuck in the middle of the straw. Frustrated, she set the cup down with a thud.

"I’m done with this... Wait a minute."

Her eyes lit up. What if the bone fragnt couldn’t be ’extracted’ but could be ’sucked’ out?

She quickly asked in Dr. Annie’s group chat:

[Is there any way to "suck out" a bone fragnt?]

Soone replied:

[If human bones could be magnetized or if certain materials could interact with bones magnetically, it could solve the problem, but it’s not possible right now.]

Avery suggested:

[What if we could rge a magnetic material with the fragnt and then use a magnet to extract it?]

After a while, soone replied:

[Your idea sounds far-fetched, but it’s creative. I’ll ask the scientists at the research center to see if they have any solutions.]

Avery:

[Good luck.]

Exhausted from her efforts, Avery rested her head on the bedside table for a quick nap. She was later jolted awake by a text ssage. Yawning, she lazily opened it.

The number was unfamiliar, but the tone was unmistakable—it had to be Zoe using a new number:

[Avery, I’m hosting a graduation party tomorrow at 5 PM in Hall One of the V Resort. I warmly invite you and your family to attend. Please be sure to RSVP!]

Avery scoffed and promptly deleted the ssage, blocking the number.

anwhile, Zoe eagerly waited for Avery’s reply. Frustrated when it didn’t co, she tried calling her, only to discover she’d been blocked.

"Hmph, she really thinks she can just ignore like this." Zoe wasn’t angry, though. Tossing her phone playfully, her eyes glead with mischief.

"Don’t think you can escape by not showing up. Tomorrow night, I’ll make sure you humiliate yourself in front of everyone and fall from your pedestal!"
