A few days later, the crew of High Mountain was back to the busy filming. Jaden also returned to live in Oxhorn Village. Avery and Josie were back in school. Everyone in the Carter family was busy. They no longer had the leisure of the holidays.
At the beginning of March, Joshua returned. Although he had lost so weight, he was in good spirits. He successfully passed the thesis defense and obtained his bachelor’s degree certificate.
As for the Demon ntor, Rhett, he got fired by the school, lost all his jobs, and was brought to court by dozens of victims. He was about to receive a just trial. The Carter family happily held a welcoming banquet for Joshua.
At the dining table, Joshua did not ntion his ntor had plagiarized his paper. Joshua only said that when he went to get his bachelor’s degree certificate, he found out that a graduate ntor he knew was a demon who had secretly plagiarized the research results of many students and finally suffered retribution. "Unfortunately, I didn’t et the legendary Professor Day," Joshua looked regretful. "All the team mbers of Professor Day, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics twice, have reappeared, except for Professor Day."
"Day good?" Arthur asked as he ate with relish.
"Is," Joshua said. "She’s aweso." Joshua said fluently. "She was the first to discover the existence of the wormhole."
"Yeah, she’s—she captured the huge energy and—"
"—for humans to achieve interstellar travel..."
When the wormhole appeared—although this wormhole appeared and disappeared for less than 0.0001 seconds—it was the first ti humans observed and confird the existence of the wormhole. It provides the possibility.
He spoke nonstop as if he knew everything. "Her team won the first Nobel Prize in Physics for this discovery."
"Her second breakthrough was the direct observation of dark matter, from which she won the second Nobel Prize in Physics..."
Most of them did not understand, but it did not stop them from thinking that Priscilla was great.
"You’ve never been a fan of celebrities. Why would you want to et Professor Day so much?" Arthur asked curiously.
Joshua said, "Professor Day never shows up. Even at the Nobel Prize Awards, she never showed up. Her team always received the award on her behalf."
"Even more mysteriously, she refused to provide information about her identity. The world only knows her as a lady."
"Normally, the Nobel Prize winner has to provide identification, but she’s an exception."
For so reason, when everyone heard that, they subconsciously looked at Avery, as if she would beco an amazing scientist like Priscilla.
Nua said, "One day, I must see her and ask for her autograph."
Avery nodded silently as she ate, knowing Joshua’s dream would co true.
After dinner, Avery received a call from Alexander right after she returned to her room.
Alexander’s voice was low. "Miss Carter, I want to tell you so bad news."
Avery’s heart sank, and she wondered, Is he sick? Injured? Or is he in a career crisis? Or did anything happen to his family?
Avery cald herself. "What is it?"
At that mont, Alexander was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window. He had one hand crossed over his chest and the other holding his phone. He looked down at the huge and dazzling city below him. "Anabel was suddenly transferred to the Valemont City branch as the general manager. She just arrived this morning. I only received the news today."
"What?" Avery exclaid. "It’s so sudden?"
The state-owned enterprise Anabel had worked for was one of the top comprehensive heavy industry groups dostically. It could be said to be Osceiton’s most advanced heavy equipnt. If the company listed and participated in the Fortune Global 500, it would rank top.
Those who wanted to be an executive in such a company would have powerful connections and excellent personal abilities. If Alexander were to act against Anabel, Anabel would be an opponent for him.
"Yeah, it just happened out of the blue," Alexander said seriously. "Strictly speaking, it’s a demotion that Anabel ca to the Valemont City branch to work as a general manager. She must have other reasons for doing so."
"I suspect she’s after . I don’t want any personal entanglents with her, but now that she’s transferred to Valemont City, I’ll have a lot of business interaction with her."
"These exchanges are likely to involve personal matters. I’m going to avoid her."
Avery said softly, "I understand. So what do you plan to do?"
Alexander smiled faintly and said coldly, "Since she’s coming for , I’ll let her miss."
Avery blinked. "You also want a transfer, don’t you?"
Will he be transferred to Rosemont City? That will be great, Avery thought. But it is impossible.
Alexander said, "I want to work in Motireland for a while and start a business there."
The Moran family’s business in developed nations and countries was full, with little room for developnt. Over in Kerotia, the Moran family’s business was on the right track.
Only the business in Motireland still had room for developnt. Of course, it was hard for Osceiton people to do business there.
Avery said, "It’s unsafe there, and the economic developnt is relatively backward. It will be difficult for you to develop a business there. There might even be danger."
Alexander chuckled. "If not so, why would the Moran family let go so easily?"
Avery said sympathetically, "How long are you planning to stay there?"
Alexander said, "It depends. I’ll stay at least three to five months and at most two to three years."
Lord, that will be a long ti, Avery’s eyebrows were wrinkling.
She raised a hand to her brow and said softly, "When will you leave? I’ll see you off and have a farewell dinner with you."
"I can’t do that this ti," Alexander whispered. "Anabel is in Valemont City. Her people must be watching from the shadows. I can’t take the risk of eting you."
"Yes, I understand."
Understand what? Avery thought. This is the indescribable feeling between and Alexander.
"So, I’m calling to say goodbye." Alexander’s voice was like the spring wind, soft and pervasive. "For the next long period, I can only talk or video-call you, Miss Carter."
"That’s good," Avery said in a low voice. "I plan to go on a business trip soon. It might take a few months."
On the other end of the phone, Alexander opened his mouth. He felt he had a lot to say but also felt the words he wanted to say were so heavy that it made it difficult for him to speak. After a while, he said, "Then, Miss Carter, I wish you all the best."
Avery smiled. "Thanks. I wish you all the best, too."
A mont later, Alexander hung up first without saying goodbye.
Louis saw him hang up the phone and walked over. "Mr. Moran, your luggage has been packed and your plane ticket has been booked. You can leave tomorrow."
Alexander nodded. He was still staring at the night sky outside the window. "During my absence, you must do your job well. If you can’t do it well, get lost."
Louis adjusted his glasses. "Don’t worry, Mr. Moran. I know what to do."
After saying that, Louis sighed inwardly. You’re ruthless. You left without even eting Miss Carter. But I support your decision.
Louis understood why Alexander was doing that and pondered, Mr. Moran is rich and powerful but is not the only one with power and wealth.
The Carter family is still too weak now. It’s like a sprout that has just burst out of the ground, far from being able to compete with top families like the Moran family and the Powell family. Mr. Moran has to buy ti for the Carter family to develop smoothly and quickly. Mr. Moran doesn’t want his relationship with Miss Carter to be like the dramatic romance drama, leading the Carter family to be oppressed by the Moran family, the Powell family, and other wealthy families and letting the Carter family suffer because of it. Mr. Moran cares about this relationship from his heart.
At that thought, Louis couldn’t help but take out his handkerchief, remove his glasses, and quietly wipe his tearless eyes.
"You can understand, right?"
Avery’s heart skipped a few more beats. Her pretty mouth opened and closed again. After a while, she said in a low voice.
