Minutes later, thousands of viewers were engrossed in the live stream when suddenly, the screen went black. Nothing appeared on their phones or computers. Then, a bloodied dagger and a ghastly skull suddenly popped up on the dark screen, along with a line of blood-red, glowing text: "Dark Matter warning: Anyone who spreads rumors about the Carter family or speaks ill of them will have their phone and computer die. No rcy!"
Avery left when the afternoon classes were over. Before she went ho, she went to the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. She could finish her dinner or pack it up to go ho before 5:00 p.m.
When Avery entered the restaurant, she saw the entire family crowding around Josie. Josie was sitting on a barstool with her arms on the dining table. Her sleeves were rolled up high, and Arthur was applying dicine to her arms. Avery walked closer and saw Josie’s chubby arms were scraped and bleeding. It made her heart ache.
Wesley asked, "Why did you fight with Sasha? Did she bully you?"
Claire added, "Does your teacher know you guys fought? Did she deal with this matter fairly?"
When Avery heard this, she imdiately asked with concern, "Did you win or lose?"
Josie clenched her other fist and said coolly, "Although I fell and my arms were slightly injured, Sasha cried and ran to complain to our teacher. I didn’t cry." It was obvious from her expression that she was quite proud.
Avery asked, "Did your teacher scold you?"
Josie pouted. "She said it was wrong for us to fight. But Sasha stole Lily’s seat first. Lily tried to reason with her, but she wouldn’t listen. Lily then cried, so I quarreled with Sasha. Sasha couldn’t win against , so she yanked on my hair. That was why I fought with her. It was her fault."
Avery nodded. "Did Sasha apologize to you and Lily and promise never to do it again?"
Josie puffed up her cheeks and said angrily, "Sasha admitted her mistake to our teacher, but she didn’t apologize to Lily and . I didn’t apologize to her either." At this point, she waved her fist. "She always leads the other kids to mock for being a cripple. I hate her the most."
The adults looked at each other and frowned.
Avery had been busy recently and rarely ca ho. This was the first ti she heard Josie was being bullied in kindergarten. Wesley asked seriously, "Does your teacher know Sasha is the leader of the bullies? Did the school inform her parents?"
Claire said solemnly, "Sasha is wrong to mock you. If the school doesn’t care, we’ll go to the school and reason with them."
Josie shook her head. "Our teacher scolded Sasha. Sasha always said she would change, but she didn’t. Our teacher didn’t punish her either. She always let her go ho in advance. I heard from the parents of other children that Sasha’s family is rich and donated a lot of money to the kindergarten. She’s the kindergarten’s sugar daddy, and the kindergarten can’t afford to offend her."
At this point, Josie looked up and asked innocently, "What’s a sugar daddy?"
"Soone who is rich and willing to give money to the kindergarten," Avery explained, patting Josie’s head. "Do you hate Sunshine Kindergarten? Do you want to change to a kindergarten where Sasha isn’t at?"
Josie thought about it seriously. "I like my kindergarten. It’s good at everything except Sasha." At this point, she sighed, shook her head like an adult, and tapped her forehead. "The television dramas and comics say there’s no such thing as perfection. We can’t expect perfection, so I won’t leave the kindergarten for Sasha."
The others laughed when they heard that. They all praised Josie for being able to make up her mind.
Avery asked again, "Do you feel like crying when Sasha mocks you for your legs?"
"I will never cry," Josie said confidently, making a face. "If anyone laughs at my legs, I will say, ’I only have a problem with my legs, but you have a flawed character. Only people with bad characters will laugh at other people’s physical flaws. I look down on such people the most.’" Her family had taught her this, and she had learned it very well.
"Well said!" The adults laughed again and finally relaxed. Claire said, "You’re so brave. Mommy will make you your favorite snack."
Avery patted Josie’s head. "If Sasha bullies you again, press Marshmallow’s record button and record how Sasha treats you and the other children. That way, you won’t have to worry about Sasha framing you."
Josie said proudly, "I recorded it every day when I went to school."
Avery gave her a thumbs-up. "Smart."
After dinner, Avery drove Josie ho. They sat in the study in the annex building. Avery worked on the computer while Josie drew. The atmosphere was quiet and beautiful.
When it was almost nine in the evening, Avery received a call from Alaric. He sounded very excited. "Avery, are you coming to school tomorrow?"
Avery shook her head. "I have experints to do. I won’t be going to school for the next few days."
Alaric said, "Tomorrow afternoon, the West End Faraway Club will hold a warm-up match with the second national team from Hataland. It will be held in our school’s stadium. The manager of the club said this warm-up match is also my final inspection match. If I perform well, they will sign a contract with on the spot and help enter the national team. It’s very important to ."
Alaric paused for a mont. "Avery, if you co, I will have a lot of energy and head into the match feeling my best. I can then play the best ga of my life."
Avery was amused by him. "Okay, I’ll definitely be there."
At this mont, Alaric was very confident in himself. Avery was also very sure of Alaric. However, when it ca to sports competitions, confidence and strength were not always enough to get one what they
