Behind the rows of racks hung with beans, a young man was bending over slightly, weeding in the farm field. He was tall and long-legged, wearing a brown cowboy hat, a white tank top, and blue pants. A white towel hung around his neck, and the bottoms of his pants were rolled up above his knees, revealing his strong chest, powerful arms, and well-proportioned calves. His healthy, sun-kissed skin glistened with a thin layer of sweat that shimred charmingly under the sunlight. The strange thing was that although he was a farr doing farm work, his actions were not rough at all. Instead, he exuded a refined and masculine aura. Luna felt that he was like one of those talented n who moved to the countryside to live a simpler life. Even in rough clothes and doing farm work, he couldn’t hide his innate refined temperant.
Under her gaze, the young man stood up, one hand on the hoe handle, the other holding a towel to wipe his sweat. The sun shone on his body from the side, outlining a beautiful, powerful, and striking silhouette, gilding it with a golden glow. Luna stared at his face, unable to look away for a mont. If this were a film set, she would definitely think he was the male lead.
The young man seed to have sensed her gaze. He turned around and was slightly stunned at first. He nodded slightly at her and revealed a gentle and friendly smile. Then, he retracted his gaze and continued to weed. The distance between the two of them was only about 70 feet. Luna was confused and thought, ’He’s so young, so his eyesight must be very good. He must have seen the movies I’ve starred in. Even if he couldn’t recognize , he could tell that I’m a beauty. Why didn’t he take a few more glances at or greet ?’
After a mont of hesitation, she stepped over the three-foot-wide flower field and walked along the path between the vegetable fields. She stopped about 30 feet away from the young man and said loudly, "Excuse , are you the owner of this house, Mr. Carter?"
Jaden stopped weeding and turned to look at her. He said politely, "I am."
Luna smiled and said, "Hello, I’m Luna Carter. I’m a crew mber of *High Mountain*. I ca here today to discuss renting this area for filming."
Jaden smiled and replied, "Miss Carter, welco. However, I’ve already replied to your crew regarding the filming. No matter who cos, I won’t agree."
Luna asked, "Why not? We can guarantee that we won’t destroy anything. In fact, we’ll restore everything we use here, and we can even help you open up the wasteland. Why aren’t you willing to rent it to us?"
Jaden carried the hoe on his shoulder and walked around the cabbage at his feet. He stepped out of the vegetable field and walked along the path. He said to Luna, "My grandparents are not in good health and are very attached to this place. I can’t let them leave for too long, let alone take the risk that everything here might be damaged."
Luna opened her mouth to say sothing, but Jaden changed the topic. "You ca all the way here, and I rejected you. You must be feeling terrible. It’s eleven o’clock in the morning, almost lunchti. If you don’t mind, you can stop by my place. I’ll make you lunch. In the anti, you can walk around. Although this is the countryside, the scenery is indeed not bad."
Luna opened her mouth, wanting to convince him on the spot. Then, she thought, ’Why am I in such a hurry? It’s not like the crew is going to start filming imdiately. I have plenty of ti to convince him.’ Hence, she adjusted the sunglasses on the bridge of her nose and revealed a perfect smile again. "Thank you, Mr. Carter. I’ll accept your offer," she said.
Jaden smiled. He put down the hoe and asked, "What do you want to eat? The vegetables in this field are fresh."
Luna gulped and replied, "I want to eat all of them."
Jaden nodded, squatted down, and pulled out a large handful of soil-covered cabbage from the ground. Then, he stood up and picked beans, cucumbers, eggplants, and tomatoes as he walked. He held them in his arms with one hand, moving with practiced ease. Luna followed behind him. She looked at her watch and asked curiously, "You didn’t look at your watch. How did you know it was eleven o’clock?"
Jaden said, "I end my farm work at this ti almost every day. After a while, you develop a sense of the ti."
Luna asked in admiration, "Why do you end your farm work at this ti every day?" She thought, ’We usually knock off at twelve o’clock.’
Jaden said, "It’s too hot in sumr. It’s almost impossible to work on the farm from 11 AM to 5 PM."
Luna nodded and asked, "How long have you been farming here?"
Jaden replied, "If I count full-ti, it’s been about six years."
Luna asked, "Did you plant this flower path?"
Jaden said, "I planted most of it, but my family helps when they’re free."
Luna nodded and didn’t ask further. She continued to observe her surroundings curiously. The two of them quickly walked to the small playground. Many kinds of fruits were planted on both sides of the small field, all of which were Luna’s favorites. The colorful fruits made her eager to taste them. There was also a large circle of roses planted nearby. The flowers of various colors were blooming so vibrantly that she couldn’t help but wonder how much ti and effort he had put into creating such a beautiful place.
There was no courtyard in the small building. The door to the house was open, revealing a relatively wide porch. A large pot of lush roses sat by the door. A big yellow dog was napping under the rose bushes. When it heard footsteps, it opened its eyes, jumped up, wagged its tail, and barked at Jaden. The owing sounds of cats could be heard from the flowers on the side of the wall. A parrot on the balcony called out, "Jaden, hello!"
Luna was particularly envious and thought, ’Planting flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Having cats, dogs, and birds. What a comfortable life!’
Jaden pushed open the door and said, "Miss Carter, please co in."
Luna thanked him politely. Just as she was about to walk in, she heard a woman’s gentle voice behind her. "Jaden, is that you? I’m here to visit your grandparents..."
