lissa POV
"Regret? Hahaha!" His laughter was cruel. "That son of a bitch ca to pay a little visit, you know? If I had not been able to move quickly, I would have been in so serious trouble by now. But I don’t bla you, love. You were just doing your best."
"You know what he said to ? He said you’re a criminal, and he has so unfinished business with you. He’s setting a trap for you, Donovan. You really need to be careful!."
"You know, sotis I always wondered if you regret that day? My birthday when you left to be with that fool. I guess I’ve gotten my reply now. You still care about ."
"Donovan, any woman would he haply to disappear from your life. You used to take money from Derek. And I decided to chose my happiness, you know?"
"I forced you? You said you could help, and you were pregnant then! You were a daring wife, and you ntioned you had so dude who’s still heads over heels for you and can give you money."
"Shut it. That’s not it. And for the baby, I aborted the baby. This child with , belongs to Derek. Okay?"
"You didn’t even have the decency to divorce , that’s because you’re still in love with . And you miss , you still fucking miss , Lisa."
I didn’t!
I an, Donovan was my first love! It’s just that...I’ve moved on.
"So what, are you admitting to all of this now? You realize you’ve made a huge mistake just now, right?"
"What? I am so happy our relationship ended, and I couldn’t divorce you because you disappeared. Derek ca into my life because he cares for , and I chose him over you. So you really should move on, Donovan. It’s over between us."
Suddenly, after a brief silence from the other end, Donovan began to laugh." You never really have been the smart one, have you, Lisa?" He asked so casually.
"What?" I was still confused.
"After that wedding picture, guess what? I now have proof of our call recording right now. And I can share it to the whole world, but first to your dearest husband."
My heart seized in my chest as I heard that. "Damn it, you bastard!" Tears began to rush down my eyes. "You just don’t care about anyone but your fucking self!"
"You brought this upon yourself, lissa. Your selfishness and your greed! You left all alone for so rich man. You started all of this, and now, I don’t want anything more than you and my beloved daughter! I miss you, so if you don’t want this trending everywhere with you husband and his family, you listen to and do exactly what I say."
It started as strangled sobs but now I was crying like a baby. Derek must never find out about this! He would kick out, punish before kicking out!
"I dunno if you rember,"Donovan ignored my sobs and went on," I want you. I’ve missed you. I don’t wanna spend this year of my birthday alone like I normally do. I’ll text you the address of a hotel, make sure you wear sothing nice. And bring so cash, I don’t have money for the two of us for dinner. It’s a really big hotel, you see."
I was lost, what was I to say? Donovan was a crazy bastard. He had a picture of us on our wedding day, and I had lied it was photoshopped. And now, a recording of our conversation? What would I say this ti!
I cut the call and buried my head on my legs in a crouching manner as I fell to the ground. It’s all ruined. It’s all ruined!
Desdra’s voice startled . "What happened? Are you okay there?"
My tears grew uncontrollably again as she approached , falling to her knees to hold . "What the fuck? You’re shivering! What the hell happened to you?"
"I--It’s nothing..." I managed to say. Fuck, why wouldn’t she just leave alone!
"Nothing? Are you sure?"At first, she looked all pitiful towards , until slowly, her face contorted into a mocking grin." Are you sure it’s not about Donovan, sweetie?"
I pushed her away and jumped up to my feet, wiping my tears." What? Who’s that?"
"Ha! That’s what I thought. You know, you’re such a pathetic liar. No need to pretend anymore. You’ve been exposed."
Her voice disgusted . I had always despised Desdra out of everyone on my hate list. "Maybe, you know what? No need to pretend anymore."
"I can just go over to et Derek now and tell him everything that has happened with you and that little bastard."
I waited and realized she didn’t seem to have a recording of my conversation with Donovan.
"And then what? You’ll tell him the mad man sent the sa picture of us to you and gave you a little story behind the picture?" I said to her.
"How dare you talk back to like this? And you know what? I heard through your calls with him! That was him, right??"
I smiled. There was no need to show any fear now. She was no threat to .
"I see why Tara dealt with you so easily, and she will always have an upper hand in your life. You’re dumb, so dumb. Donovan must have sothing against you, else he wouldn’t have reached out to you. See you and I, we’re in the sa shoes right now."
She blinked, then swallowed hard. There. Donovan must have really threatened her. But with what?
"If you get in my way at all, I’ll make sure you regret it, do you understand? Just keep pretending to be dead and dumb like this, and blind too. Do you understand??" She actually flinched at the tone of my voice.
"Tomorrow is Tara’s party, you know?" Desdra said, calling my attention as I’d already turned to leave.
"It’s not Tara’s party. It’s--"
"--yea, whatever. But she invited Derek and said she had sothing important to tell him. Guess what that can be? Who knows? Maybe she wants him back too. And maybe that kid really does belong to Derek."
"You’re still believing in this crap--wait, too? What do you an maybe she wants him back too?" All my attention was bought now, waiting for answers.
Desdra’s laughter was a satisfactory one. "You heard . Guess who’s still in love with Tara and actually wants her back? I wonder what will happen to you and Nina by then? Are we going to experience another divorce in the family soon?"
