Third POV
"And what are you getting at with that? You should just stay in your position as the poor one in the family and get off my back. Once in a while when I have spare change, I’ll always had it to you. I love helping the needy." lissa got up, "mother I’m leaving already--" she paused, seeing Desdra laughing like a mad woman. Not that she was surprised anyway, Desdra had always acted strange.
"Just like you aren’t too sure if Derek, my idiot brother, is the father of Nina, guess what? None of us are certain about Tara’s son too. Derek must be the father, did you see their resemblance??"
Imdiately, lissa fell back to the couch like an invisible rope had just pulled her backwards. Desdra laughed out even louder.
"That’s right. I’m sure you must have been seeing the little smart kid trending. Truth is, when you think about this logically, you’ll start to realize that there is every possibility that Derek is the father of Richard! She hasn’t remarried since then. That kid should be around 6 years old, and Derek divorced her 7 years ago. She was pregnant for 9 months... Well, I’ll let you do the maths."
lissa fell silent for such a long while that Desdra probably thought she must have been shedding silent tears on the inside. It was torture enough because everyone knew just how Derek craved for a mini him. Not that he didn’t like Nina, he just sotis wished he had a son too.
Alice ca back in, creating a perfect mont for Desdra to strike. "Uh lissa?"
She flinched. "I was on my...my w--way ho so--"
"--oh okay." Desdra smiled. "But there’s this picture I received. I just wanted to confirm, please tell us what the hell is going on here? I’ve sent it to you as well Mother,"
Alice cried out. "Isn’t this you in a wedding dress?? You’ve been married before? I thought you said Derek was your first love and everything!"
"Where did you get this!" lissa was almost on the edge of bursting out in tears.
"That psycho sent it to . He claid you two are more closer than this, I an can you explain this picture?" Desdra struggled so hard holding her laughter. "Rember that psycho mom, that’s threatening lissa."
"This is clearly photoshopped!" lissa cried out. "I swear it. Derek is my first love, I never lied to you mother."
Desdra leaned back on the chair, thin brows arched up as she studied lissa. Even after everything, she would still lie like this?
"I thought as much! Now I mush show this to Derek so he can find this creep and confront him, really!" Desdra dialed Derek number.
"No please don’t call him. He doesn’t like it when I’m here, I’ll tell him myself!" lissa tried to plead but Desdra had already called him.
"Oops. Don’t worry, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. Let put him on speaker."
"What do you want Desdra, I’m busy." Derek said like he said all the ti whenever Desdra called him.
"Relax. lissa is here and sothing strange just happened. There’s a wedding picture of her and that psycho who just wouldn’t leave her alone."
"Yes son, should we just go to the police?" Alice chirped in.
lissa felt like crying now. Derek would kill her for still disobeying him.
"Also, forgive lissa for being here. We called her, she isn’t a burden to us so stop forbidding her from coming!" Desdra added.
Derek was silent for a while before saying, "Fine, I’ll take care of this. As long as this isn’t so stupid prank, or lissa isn’t lying to us!"
"How can you doubt your own wife!" Alice shouted at him.
"Well, I’m not. Okay that’s settled then. Now lissa leave there and go pick up our daughter from school."
lissa quickly left as Derek had commanded, although she wanted to be away from Desdra as fast as she could. Desdra was acting so strange... So suspicious!
Once at ho, she handed Nina over to the maids and went ahead to Derek’s study room. Now, she didn’t know what she was looking for exactly, but she figured she would know it once she saw it.
It hurt her and made her heart ache as she rembered the words of Desdra in her head. That kid... That handso boy who was just around the sa age as Nina was.
Back then before Tara left, she had made a frightening statent to her. About her thinking she had won when there was still series of other gas to play. What if she already knew she had been pregnant and the child belonged to Derek! Would he kick her and Nina out to get back with Tara? Derek was as nuts as Donovan was so there was no telling what he could do.
She needed to be quick as she scanned the room. He had mistakenly dialed the code while she was around and didn’t know she saw it, or maybe he just forgot to change it since then. Derek was always so obsessed with this room.
After a couple of minutes of helpless searches, she found nothing! Nothing of importance to in his drawers, on his desks, in the shelves. She had almost given up until sothing caught her eyes. It was a black box and Derek was always so careful with the color black. "How have I not noticed this before?" She frowned. It was in the middle part of a white long shelf with old boring law books arranged in it.
Before she could pick it to open it, Derek’s voice cut her off, startling her that she jumped up in shock. He wasn’t supposed to be ho until later!
"What the hell are you doing here, lissa?" Derek asked again, this ti more furious than the first ti. "And how did you even get in!"
"Derek... I, uh...welco back." She stamred. "I was looking for you. The door was open, you must have forgotten to lock it! "
Derek was convinced he didn’t believe her but he chose not to waste ti dwelling on that. She would just keep refusing. All he needed to do was up the security and change the password.
"Actually, we found your guy. That Donovan dude."
lissa felt her heart racing at the ntion of that! "Wait...what?"
