Tara’s POV

"I understand that you’re still mad. But I think you should call Arlo!" She was still saying. I rolled my eyes and went to sit on the chair opposite to the bed. "Really, if you recall, Arlo was the one who gave you all of this connections of yours. He promoted your business, this whole plan of yours to make uoir mom happy. It’s all thanks to him."

I heaved in a deep sigh, although it was a bit dramatic just so she would stop bothering . But then I had so reasoning to what she ant. "You have to understand from my own perspective. It just happened so fast. See, today is Thursday and he still hasn’t call! Since on Sunday!"

"So you call him. Wait, did you actually tell Derek you wanted him to et his son? Are you prepared to tell him now?"

I had been holding back that conversation from her. But I guess she would still have to find out. Even I was still trying to figure it all out. "I didn’t say anything. They’re all still busy eting up with the court’s demand."

"Is he really so poor he can’t afford 1.5 million dollars?" Ella laughed out. "I don’t an to mock them, but is he so poor to that extent??"

"I think Derek is ignoring her on purpose. Although, how net-worth is not so smiling like it used to before. He’s in so much debt now that I don’t even understand how that’s possible."

"That’s none of your business. Now, answer my question. Are you prepared to tell Derek the truth? I still say we lie to Richard, and then we can go on another trip like this. Now that he’s all cool with his cousins, take him over there for a vacation!"

I shook my head to deny that. "I really wish to, but I think it’s ti he knew about how father. I just couldn’t tell him about it yet. Derek is still such a dick!"

Ella made a frustrated grunt, then she made her way towards my side and sat beside . "It’ll be okay, alright. I’m here with you, for Richard. And Arlo will be too if you can just call him now. Seriously."

I felt my heart so heavy in an inconvenient way, like it was aching in anxiety, if that could even be possible. I wanted to call him I really did. But I was just still so angry! Still, Ella was pretty convincing. Besides, I wanted to hear his own side of the story.

I dialed his number and put it on speaker. One ring...two rings...six rings...

"The number you’re calling cannot be reached."

"What’s this? It’s ringing but he won’t pick??" Ella was the first to talk, spewing out exactly what I was thinking.

I dialed it again and again...still ringing. "He’s not picking up. It’s the fourth ti now." Anger filled my eyes and then a little bit of regret! "See, I shouldn’t have called him. I knew it. How can he still be angry at !" Deep down I knew I was hurt. What more did he want from ??

"I gave it my all. Okay, so I used him. And I lied to him. But is that really enough for him to act like a kid like this??" My mind was racing back to how my weekend had gone on our little trip. Every of the scenarios was playing in my head now.

"It’s fine. He’s probably busy. I’m sure he’ll call you back."

I nodded, convincing myself to believe that. All through the evening that day, I was still so bothered that it annoyed to the very core. I had called over and over again, left a series of text ssages pouring out my anger, still...he left on read and ignored all my calls!

The ding of the clock on the wall made a notification sound that it was already 9pm. "Should I call again?" The thought crossed my mind. I had to shrug it off. Ella had asked how I was feeling but of course, I had to lie that I was alright.

All of a sudden, I felt my phone vibrating beside as I saw a call coming through. Arlo was calling. It just dawned on now as I saw the na popping up on my screen. Because he always called Sunshine, for so reason, I had changed his na from simple plain Arlo to Sunshine.

I laughed at my stupidity but finally answered the call. "Well, you have so much explaining to do, okay?? What happened, you’ve been ignoring !"

Instead of getting his sweet bold British accent, it was a soft Arican female voice. Wow, that was so fast. He was cheating...

It dawned on now that Arlo and I hadn’t been dating. Of course he was free to hang out with any woman he wanted!

"Hi, are you there Tara?" I heard the lady’s voice said, and my frown deepened. So she even knows my na??

"Yes, who is this? Isn’t this Arlo’s phone?" I said waiting for the crazy response I would get. How would she claim she had guessed what my na was? Instead, I was shocked to find out what she said next.

"Tara, it’s Sofia. Arlo is in the hospital. He’s been here for a while now. I thought I would be strong but I dunno what to do now. I’m so scared!" The way she talked, it was so obvious she had been crying.

I tried to relax but my whole body was shivering in fear. "What? What do you an? What’s wrong with him?? Where are you now?"

Third POV

Desdra’s face was swollen to the point where her lips aches whenever she tried to talk. She had called her lawyer and reported to Derek too about the humiliation she faced the other day.

"So there’s nothing you idiot lawyers can do about this!!" She cried out as the thought crossed her mind again. Derek was seated opposite her with his head bowed low like he was lost in thought. What was making him act so low and sad all day, she didn’t know.

"Hey, stop raging war on your innocent brother. I’m pretty sure he must have told you to stop but you didn’t listen to him. Now what will you do to Tara, what can you do to her anyway?" Alice roared out.

"I told you to stop yelling at like that, mother!" Spat out Desdra. "There’s enough proof. She called herself Tom’s wife. Isn’t that enough for the stupid lawyers??"

"Tom’s wife is not enough proof. Besides, do you have a voice recording that sides with you? There’s nothing to present to the court if you were to sue her. Besides, she’s a very influential person." Derek said not paying not much attention to her.

"Why are you even dating with him?? You know what I found out now? You’re fucking around with Tom Aniston, Tara’s step brother! What kind of an idiot can you be sotis!!!" His grunt was so high and loud that Desdra and Alice jumped up in shock.

"Look at you now, you’re busy selling everything you’ve got for settlent. You have nothing left. And here you are talking about still making her pay?? Mom, are you even listening to her right now? She’s so annoying! This is so annoying, you’ve just caused more and more problem for and the company. If we’re not careful, Tara and her firm can kick us out! Can you even believe this!" The way his voice was so loud was so scary that it put everyone to silent.

Her phone rang and Desdra jumped up in delight, running outside.

"Hey, where are you going to??" Alice called out but she didn’t listen and just hurried out.

Quickly, she picked up the call. "Hey, where the hell have you been? Do you know what happened to , your stupid wife she hurt . I will sue you and sue all of your family! I’m so poor now, Tom. Because of you and your stupid plan to hurting your sister. I knew I shouldn’t have listened to you."

"Baby, you need to calm down."

"Baby??? I’m not your baby! Okay, now shut up your foolish mouth you idiot." She was so angry as she was talking that her face was starting to ache.

"Baby, there’s nothing we can do, okay? For now, we need to calm down and stay low. I will take care of everything soon."

"I’m so broke now Tom. Isn’t there anything you can do? Send so money, I have so many debt to pay."

"I don’t have any money on too, baby. I’m so broke as well."

"So you won’t say anything to your wife? She hurt !"

"Baby. I can—" suddenly, he stopped, "my love, I’m talking to my mom. Bye mom."

"Mom?"

"Hey, I’ll talk to you later, bye."
