Tara’s POV

I had to stop him imdiately to shut him up because what nonsense was he spewing?

"I’m telling you, alright. Richard isn’t a kid as you think he is. He’s very smart. Really matured, I an, dude literally scolded like my old man would have." His lips parted and eyes drifted off like he was still reliving the mont.

I had to calm down. I wasn’t stupid, Richard was completely capable of saying that. A piece of my heart suddenly started to ache as it dawned on . My divorce with Derek was really affecting my poor baby than I thought. Heaving in a deep sigh, I focused my attention on Arlo, ready to dispose of him.

He would not co into my house and tell how to be a good mother. "Thank you, I’ll shut the door now on your way out."

His gaze was heavily fixed on now, possibly judging even more? "I care about Richard. He’s a very interesting kid. And I just wish that you’d give a chance to be in his life, as his friend. Not to replace his father." His tone was careful now, softer.

"You don’t have to worry about flirting with you in any way. I totally respect Richard’s wishes more than you think. And to , you’ll only be Richard’s mother. Nothing more. I promise."

He seed honest, who knows? But why did I feel insulted? I was more than Richard’s mother! I was a sexy beautiful woman--

"I’ll leave now so you can shut your door." He said, turning to leave. Suddenly, he turned back. "By the way, I’m still calling you Sunflower from now on."

Then he walked out the door. I shut the door and leaned on it for so sort of support. After a while, I went to et Richard to ask him personally, wishing that Arlo had been wrong sohow. Ella was on a call with soone, smiling so brightly that I made a ntal note to ask who that was later.

I sat on his bed, facing him. "Richard. I’d like to ask you a question, but I want you to be very honest with , okay? Do you want to beco a lawyer like mommy and daddy?"

He stared at for such a long ti, maybe considering whether to lie or tell the truth. Finally, he responded by shaking his head. "I love you, but I don’t like lawyers. I don’t want to be a lawyer."

I crumbled right there at that mont. Arlo had been fucking right! "Okay, but why didn’t you say anything to ?"

"I don’t want to disappoint you. You love your job so much."

"No, of course I do. But I beca a lawyer because I wanted to. Grandpa never forced to. And I won’t do that to you either. I love you more than you know, and I would support you no matter what you want to be, okay?"

"Really? I love science and engineering! And lots of mathematics. I don’t like law. Or art stuff." He looked so happy having to admit that now.

I pulled him closer in a hug. "Next ti, no matter how hard or silly you might think it is, co to and tell . I need you to trust that I’ll alway have your back because who’s your number one fan again?"

"You are!"

"That’s right, baby."

"Do you think I can et with Arlo again next week? He says I’m cool." Richard said happily.

"Sure thing, honey." That didn’t co from wholeheartedly, but maybe I should start to give Arlo a chance.

I grabbed on my coat and a small purse, ready to head out. I needed so fresh air to clear my head. The maid had said we were out of milk so I imdiately offered to get so from the supermarket nearby.

The cold breeze sipped through my nostrils, refreshing wholly. I liked how the wind howled lowly like a whisper past my ears.

At the supermarket, I headed over to the milk section straight, since I didn’t want to spend much ti out. If I had gone through looking around, I probably would have spent at least an hour picking things we wouldn’t even need. This supermarket had that effect on making think I needed literally everything I set my eyes on.

A figure bumped into and funny enough, I hadn’t even seen her walking towards . I stepped back a little, waiting for an apology. Only for to see who it had been. What a shitty evening I was about to have.

"What is this? Are you blind or sothing--!" She paused, taking a closer look at now. I turned to leave, hoping she wouldn’t recognize but she called out, "Tara? What is this? It is you, or am I having a nightmare?? No, it is you!"

A frown appeared on my face but I was able to keep my cool. "Hello Alice," she gasped, shocked I had called her by her na. But I was no longer married to her son so there wasn’t any need to call her mother anymore.

"What nonsense is this! How dare you call by my na? You filthy idiot. We have looked everywhere for you but it turned out you just disappeared after trying to murder my grandchild." She rambled on.

"I’m in a hurry so if you’ll excuse ." I said, not hiding the irritation on my face.

"Hey. Aren’t you going to apologize!" She screeched.

"Apologize for what? That you bumped into because you weren’t looking at where you were going?" I demanded.

This made her burst out in laughter. "Have you forgotten who I am? I will show you a lesson right now. Apologize or be ready to get embarrassed."

I stood tall, "no. You apologize, Alice. Or get out of my front right now."

"Fine. You brought this on yourself. This filthy rag thinks she can abuse ! How dare you!" Now she was raising her voice now, creating an unwanted scenario!
