"Let go of ! I have sothing of value you can have in exchange for sparing . I won’t tell anyone that I was here or go around Scarlet again. I didn’t know that the two of you were that close. Had I known that there was already a man in her life, I wouldn’t have listened to her accepting any suitors. Just this once," Robert begged.
Ian ignored Robert as there was nothing he wanted from Robert nor was there anything that could be said that could change his mind. Robert was too pushy to easily stop trying to force his way into Scarlet’s life even after sothing like this and Robert would run straight to the guards.
Ian would prefer for Robert to continue to be the sa rude bastard that he was at the party today and based on what Robert said not long ago about being done with Scarlet to then pass her off, he knew exactly what type of man Robert was.
Lockwood was better off with one less man like Robert.
Robert turned to the other man following behind Ian. This stranger was his only hope of not dying right now. "I-"
"Don’t ask to save you. It’s either he kills you or and I happen to like my life. Just go quietly since there aren’t any neighbours near this murder house. They were smart unlike ," said Owen, still scared of what he heard today.
Owen could be offered the opportunity to beco king and wouldn’t try to stop Ian from dragging the poor man outside. Ian would hunt him down and kill him at so point so his ti as king would be short. This was the sa man who had not forgotten about how his family treated him and returned to ss with them.
Ian let go of the chair when he reached the small pond outside. He was told that it was created by no one looking after the property and too much rain over the years. It was finally being put to so use today.
"Please let go. I will be on your side from now on," said Robert.
"I might have considered letting you go if you remained the sa cocky bastard until the end. Begging doesn’t suit you," Ian said, raising his right foot to push the chair back. "She’s not any lady you can just speak to as you like. She’s a relative of the king. What made you think she would want you?"
"I know. I know," Robert quickly spoke. With his arms and legs tied to the chair, if Ian were to push him back, he wouldn’t be able to push himself up from the water to breathe. "I will never approach her again. I will even leave town. I have a small house outside of Lockwood. You can have that if you want it."
Robert gritted his teeth as his pleas fell on deaf ears. All of this over Scarlet when she could easily throw this bastard away? Robert couldn’t die being this kind of entertainnt for Ian as he toyed with him. Ian could have pushed him back by now but he was keeping him steady to watch him beg.
Since he wanted to die, Robert wanted to piss Ian off before then. "She’ll get rid of you just like she did that husband of hers. At least give this old man sothing to think of before I go. Was she-"
Ian pushed the chair back into the water. Robert had talked long enough and it was nearing ti for him to get his dinner started. "Before he drowns, pull him out."
"What?" Owen was surprised to hear that Ian was not going to finish the job. "You’re keeping him alive?"
"You want to kill the man for speaking? How heartless," Ian replied.
"Wait! But you," Owen looked down at Robert, listening to the gurgling noises. "I brought him here for you and you dragged him out here. Were you planning to spare him all along?"
"I’ll eventually kill him but not now. Where is the fun in that? He might be useful with how much he is willing to talk. You should be picking him up before he dies," Ian said, looking down at Robert struggling to get his head up out of the water.
Owen grabbed Robert’s hand and pulled him out of the water.
Robert coughed out the water he had swallowed at the very end. He tried to hold his breath in the beginning but it wasn’t sothing he was good at. He was tired and it felt like he was down there fighting for his life for minutes. "I was just following the rumour going around," he slowly spoke.
"What rumour?" Ian asked, finally interested in sothing Robert was saying.
Robert didn’t answer right away as he stopped to catch his breath once more. "It wasn’t a rumour. W-wait! I wasn’t lying to you. I spoke to one of her relatives and they said she was in desperate need of a man’s touch. I wasn’t the only one to hear this."
"Which relative?" Ian asked, disturbed by what ca to mind at first. Judging from what he made of Robert from the short ti that he knew him, Robert was hoping to take advantage of Scarlet. "Speak before I finish you off here."
"Naomi Collins. She was concerned for Scarlet and told a few things. I didn’t know Scarlet would have been at the party. I was sending her things hoping to get an audience with her in her ho-"
"You were planning to take advantage of a woman you thought was in a pitiful state. You do look like the type. You’ll be a problem if I let you go and I like to take care of problems before they get bigger so," Ian said, kicking the chair once more to have Robert fall back into the water. "I have dinner to make."
"Just for you or do I have to find sowhere to eat?" Owen asked, following Ian back indoors. He would take care of fishing Robert’s body out of the pond later and hiding it.
"Go ho," Ian answered. Owen was like that unwanted relative who ca unannounced and ruined how quiet your ho was.
"Then I would be bored. I’ve been doing so thinking-"
"Don’t hurt yourself," Ian muttered.
"And I think he has frequented your business before. I would have to see the records for his na and what was said but I am sure that I’ve seen his face. I thought so when I first saw him and it’s coming back to now," said Owen.
"Look through it for his na and any ntions of Scarlet by n like him. Her relatives are going to take her attention from ," Ian sighed.
It only made sense to get rid of the woman from the party.
"So," Owen started. "She doesn’t seem like an easy nut to crack even though you got her to attend the party with you. Are you certain that you want to continue?"
Ian smiled as that was what he enjoyed. Where would be the fun if Scarlet made it easy?
