With the grand plan of pinning Scarlet for the loss of her child not working, Beth had to co up with another as she could no longer distract Jack from speaking about a doctor.

Beth had never wanted to go back in ti more than now as she didn’t know how to end this lie about a baby. Had she not seen Scarlet that day, this would have never happened. Sohow, it was Scarlet’s fault that she had blurted out about having a baby.

The only solution Beth could think of now was to visit a doctor to get them to lie about her pregnancy. She would buy their silence with the money Jack had been giving her recently because of their unborn child.

Beth sat alone waiting for the doctor to be ready. She couldn’t call them to the mansion as she was afraid of being overheard by the maids who were more loyal to Jack than her.

She touched her flat belly and said, "Because of this, he is going to marry . Just wait."

Soon she would have a child and the lie would go away. Beth was so close to becoming Beth Humphrey that she couldn’t allow this to ruin her plans.

Beth was in luck that Jack loved her so much that he was patient with her and didn’t call upon the doctor, but his mother was another story.

"My apologies for making you have to wait. There’s been an increase in sick people. I hope there isn’t so sort of plague going around," said the doctor, Chester Warner. He went to his table to look at what was written for Beth’s visit.

"I certainly hope there is not a plague. If there is any sign of it, you should send notice of it to the palace for the people with it to be disposed of," said Beth.

In Beth’s opinion, it was probably the poor who couldn’t get their hands on soap and clean water that would bring about the sickness. Lockwood was not a town for the poor so they should be sent away to a town that was more suitable for them.

This town was where the palace was so only important people who could afford to be here should be.

"There would be no need to dispose of them. It would only take proper care to treat it. dicines are steadily getting better-"

"That’s wonderful. I expect that you aren’t happy that your services are being used like this. In such a small room," Beth said, looking around the tiny room.

If she was truly pregnant she would have never co here as there were places to treat a woman of her status. Better yet, the doctors would have been lining up to see her.

Chester wasn’t thrilled to be treating Beth as the conversation was far from pleasant. "You are aware that you ca to . If this doesn’t suit you, you are welco to go sowhere else."

"I am here as a woman to change your life. I can get you more wealthy patients to look after and get you into sowhere bigger. You’ll never have to treat anyone who might be sick with a plague or can’t afford you so you accept low pay. To show you, here," Beth said, taking an envelope out of her bag to push to Chester. "This is only the start if you help ."

Chester knew that she was bribing him for sothing. If she was here to get him to harm soone else, he would go to the town guards before he could be pulled into her ss. She was dressed as if she ca from a higher class but he didn’t want to believe it yet as he had witnessed many put on a facade.

Chester decided to humour her and took the envelope to see what price she was trying to buy him for. His eyes widened when he saw the bills inside and for a mont he stopped breathing.

Just looking at it, Chester could tell that it was worth more than he was going to make for the day, week, and more than a month because his patients were simple common folk.

"That is just the paynt to get you to agree to do what I want. Don’t worry, you won’t have to harm anyone or do sothing that would risk your life. It is sothing quite simple but before I tell you that, please sign this," Beth said, putting a contract she created on the table.

Should he try to backstab her at so point, Beth was going to take everything that he owned. It wasn’t much as she was now used to finer things, but to the doctor, it was a lot.

The doctor would have to be a fool to betray her as with the money she was planning on giving him, his life would turn better.

Chester picked up the paper to read what was typed. After the first read, Chester didn’t find anything about it that would have him helping to physically hurt soone. Still, it didn’t state what he was going to be hired to do.

"I must know what you are hiring for before I sign this. I am not a fool," said Chester. He wanted the job on the paper and if it could not be, it was sothing that would get him tossed into a cell.

"You are smart. Then you will like this one more," Beth said, giving him the second version she had as a backup. "All you need to do is act as though you believe I am pregnant and do what you can to help fake it until I beco pregnant. The father will want the doctor I am using to co to our ho."

"You look like a young lady. As long as you try with your spouse, a child shall soon co. I’ve seen many won in too much of a hurry after the wedding and told them to wait. They were soon blessed with a child unless one of the partners was the problem in conceiving," Chester explained.

Sotis won’s bodies weren’t able to conceive a child and carry it for long and though there were so who didn’t believe a recent study, a man could be the reason behind there being no child.

"I need not wait or have him co to you to see if he has a problem with making pregnant. His wife was the one with the problem," Beth ranted, not realising she had revealed the man in this situation wasn’t her husband. "Do you wish to make easy money or not? You shall go far for a simple job."

"As a doctor-"

"You can’t do what? Your morals are stopping you from accepting? Even town guards would accept sothing like this because they understand doing what is best to have a better life matters more. I am where I am now because I took chances like this," Beth said as she placed a finger on the envelope, ready to move it.

"You can either whither as the doctor who dealt with the poor or rise as a new doctor treating the wealthy," Beth said, giving him one last chance to agree.
