"According to the principal’s arrangent, An Yan, you’ve been placed directly into the top class of this year’s intake. I hope you can have a happy university life."
As they reached the classroom door, Teacher Zhang concluded his introduction. "This is your class, An Yan. Please, co in!"
"Thank you."
An Yan reached out and pushed open the classroom door.
There were still five minutes before the next class was due to start, and almost all the students had arrived. Their books were laid out on their desks as they waited for the teacher.
Instead, they saw a very pretty new female classmate.
She wore a short, dark blue, fitted coat over a white round-neck undershirt, paired with black jeans and pristine white sneakers. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail, making her look full of energy. She had delicate features, flawless skin, and a pair of bright, spirited black eyes.
The few students who looked up were instantly stunned.
"Our class got another beauty."
"Guys, she’s the spitting image of my ideal first love!"
A cheerful, handso boy couldn’t help but whistle.
"Hey classmate, can I add you on WeChat?"
An Yan t his gaze with her clear, distinct eyes. The boy who had spoken had well-defined features, but his smile held an unsettling hint of frivolity.
An Yan raised her hand and pushed away the phone he was holding out to her. "No!"
Su Siming was montarily stunned.
A few nearby students snickered.
"Whoa, Young Master Su actually got rejected?"
Su Siming was the youngest son of the Luocheng Su Family. He had two older sisters; one married into the Li Family of Shangjing City, and the other into the Mu Family of Luocheng. The Su Family itself was wealthy and influential. With both daughters marrying into such prominent families, the Su Family’s status was rapidly approaching that of the Mu Family, Luocheng’s most prestigious household. As the sole heir to the Su Family, and being exceptionally intelligent and quick-witted, Su Siming was naturally labeled a "top student" by his peers. Throughout his life, he’d always been admired and looked up to by everyone. This fostered an arrogant nature in him. If he took a liking to a girl, he’d simply beckon her over. He’d date them for a few days, and if he got bored, he’d break up imdiately. In any case, there was never a shortage of girls wanting to be his girlfriend.
But An Yan was the first girl to refuse his advances. This made Su Siming feel as if his charm had been challenged. His expression darkened instantly. "New girl, are you not giving face?"
An Yan looked up at him. "What exactly counts as giving you face?"
Su Siming laughed. "Too late. I wanted to add you just now, and you refused. Now I’m angry. So, what are you going to do about it?"
"Then bring it on."
An Yan took a step back and extended her hand.
Su Siming stared. What the...? Ha, she wants to shake my hand? Does she really think a handshake will make stop being angry? Still, her hand *is* rather nice to look at... Might as well.
However, the mont his hand reached hers, she pulled, twisted, and flipped him, then her fingers clamped down. That delicate-looking hand seized him by the neck. He was slamd to the ground and pinned there!
The surrounding classmates were stunned speechless. Su Siming’s handso face flushed crimson!
He desperately thrashed, trying to regain so face, but An Yan simply pressed a point on his body with her other hand, and his limbs instantly went limp like noodles.
Fear! Terror! In that instant, he felt as though he were staring Death itself in the face!
The figure of Death before him seed to smirk. "Listen closely. I’ll do you the great honor of *not* adding you on WeChat!"
With that, An Yan released her grip.
Su Siming lay on the ground, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling, having just received the first major blow in his otherwise smooth-sailing life.
His lackeys imdiately rushed to help him up. "Young Master Su, are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
Su Siming slowly sat up. He extended a thumb and, in a move he clearly thought was suave, wiped a non-existent trace of blood from the corner of his mouth. "I’m perfectly fine," he declared. "Woman, you’ve successfully caught my attention!"
An Yan: ...
Eighth-grade syndro! He’s definitely watched too many overbearing CEO dramas.
"What do you guys think, how many days until this girl falls for Young Master Su?"
"I doubt it!"
"Gotta say, the new girl’s pretty badass!"
Su Siming: ...
"Young Master Su, you can do it! You’ll definitely succeed!" a lackey quickly chid in, noticing Su Siming’s thunderous expression.
"Get lost!" Su Siming roared, his face beet-red and the veins on his neck bulging.
At that mont, a hand with well-defined knuckles reached out to him. "Class is about to start. Hurry up and get up!"
It was Liang Chen!
Su Siming didn’t listen to anyone else, but he always listened to Liang Chen.
The two had been in the sa class since kindergarten. Su Siming considered himself a genius, consistently ranking near the top despite not really studying. But Liang Chen was an even greater genius. While Su Siming was still aiming for first in their class, Liang Chen was already number one in the entire school. The mont Su Siming finally beca number one in school, Liang Chen skipped a grade, becoming his senior. To avoid losing face, Su Siming had no choice but to study hard and try to catch up. This pursuit continued from elentary school all the way through university. Their friendship had, strangely enough, solidified during this relentless ga of cat and mouse.
Following Liang Chen back to their seats, Liang Chen, true to form, pulled out a thick to and began to absorb its contents. Su Siming, anwhile, crossed his arms and scanned his lackeys, ready to flick a peanut at anyone who dared to snicker.
Anyone hit would just purse their lips, stifling their amusent. The Great Demon King, Su Siming, aside from Liang Chen, has finally t his match! Hahaha...
On the left side of the classroom.
An Shing clenched her fists so tightly her fingernails dug into her palms, though she barely registered the pain.
She had ntally prepared herself for An Yan attending Luocheng University, but for An Yan to be in *this* class... that was far beyond her expectations. What infuriated her more was that An Yan had caught Su Siming’s eye the mont she arrived. Su Siming! He was the backup plan An Shing had earmarked for herself. She hadn’t made her move yet because Su Siming was still sowing his wild oats. She planned to wait until he’d had his fill of fun before decisively making him hers. But before she could act, An Yan had already caught Su Siming’s eye! This was outrageous!
An Shing’s composure wavered for only an instant. Then, she smiled and waved at An Yan. "Sister, co here."
Hearing her voice, a faint smile touched An Yan’s lips.
It’s starting. Growing up, the only people she’d interacted with, aside from her grandfather, were those seeking dical treatnt. Those who sought her help were naturally courteous, so she’d never had the chance to experience true human malice. But in the few short days since returning to Luocheng, she had encountered more wickedness than in her entire twenty years of life. From Lin Shang deliberately inviting her to the engagent party just to humiliate her, to returning ho to find her mother’s belongings missing, and then An Shing’s daily, saccharine attempts to assert superiority over her... All these incidents were constant reminders that so people in this world did not welco her. But this was her ho! Since her father and older brother couldn’t see the truth, she would help them open their eyes. Today, her goal was to rip off An Shing’s hypocritical mask! She would provoke An Shing’s jealousy, forcing her to reveal their mother’s notebook to save her own face. She would make her father and older brother understand what An Shing had stolen. She would let them see with their own eyes the kind of person they were protecting.
In an instant, An Yan’s expression turned resolute.
