Immortal Rain Valley—Xiantian Sect.

After two days of deep slumber, Su Xiaobai finally left the infirmary, stretching lazily as he made his way back to his little residence.

The sect was buzzing with activity, but he was blissfully unaware of the chaos brewing in White Cloud Star.

Right now, his greatest concern…

Was the weird egg in his hands.

He stroked it absentmindedly, his fingers running across its smooth, strangely warm surface.

It was the size of a fist, black with faint silver veins, and it humd faintly under his touch.

"What a weird egg…"

Su Xiaobai muttered to himself, completely absorbed.

This little thing had been found in Liu Chenfu's treasure stash—which, judging by its origins, ant that the bastard had likely stolen it from the Beast Peak Lord's treasury.

Should Su Xiaobai return it?

Absolutely not.

Finders keepers, losers weepers.

As he walked along the path, still idly rubbing the egg like a villain petting his future disaster, a familiar figure intercepted him.

Zhu Qing.

Her sharp eyes flickered toward his hands—then her lips twitched violently.

"What's so special about it?"

She pursed her lips, then let out a small, annoyed pout.

Su Xiaobai raised a brow.

"Jealous of an egg now? Damn, Peak Lord Zhu."

Zhu Qing rolled her eyes, but deep inside, she was ntally strangling him.

She wasn't here to compete with poultry. She was here for… sothing far more awkward.

Zhu Qing took a deep breath, internally preparing herself. This was… not a conversation she wanted to have, but it was necessary.

First—that marriage.

It wasn't her idea.

It was Bai Yujian's.

She needed to clear that up before Su Xiaobai thought she was desperate to chain him down.

Second—what the hell was their relationship now?

At first, she had only wanted to use him.

She had planned to push him into a position of power, using him to overthrow Zhao Tianxuan.

But now—the bastard had done it all on his own.

He was already the natural successor.

Her original plan was now useless.

But then…

Did she still want the marriage?

On one hand, she wanted to tell Su Xiaobai that he could sleep on this engagent forever, only marrying her when he felt like it—or never at all.

On the other hand…

If he did marry her, wouldn't that still be her victory?

Zhao Tianxuan, that old bastard, would be forced to step down. And Su Xiaobai, her husband, would beco the Sect Master. Which ant—she would beco the true second-in-command.

It wouldn't happen imdiately—probably a century from now—but in the end, she would win.

And honestly?

Zhu Qing just wanted that emotional satisfaction of finally triumphing over Zhao Tianxuan.

Because that seat was supposed to be hers.

And if her own man sat on it—

She wouldn't feel so damn salty about it anymore.

But now…

Now she just had to figure out how the hell to say all of this without making it sound desperate.

And worse—

Without making Su Xiaobai mock her for the rest of her life.

While Zhu Qing was drowning in overanalysis, Su Xiaobai wasn't even thinking about her. His mind was busy sorting through his own ss, too many problems still left unsolved.

And at the top of his list?

That hot-and-cold lunatic, Huo Lingxue. His expression twitched.

"What a pain…"

If there was one thing he hated more than dying, it was dealing with spoiled princesses who thought the world revolved around them.

He sighed inwardly as he reached his little cave residence, pushing open the sturdy wooden door.

A fleeting thought hit him—damn, he really was living like a caveman.

If not for the polished jade bed, the small spirit pool, and the neatly arranged furniture, he would have forgotten he was in another world entirely.

"After you."

He gestured toward the open door, signaling Zhu Qing to enter first. She paused, eyes flickering between him and the room before landing back on him, her face reddening slightly.

"…Pervert."

Su Xiaobai blinked. Huh? What the hell was she thinking? He was just being polite—so why did she suddenly look like he was about to drag her into so villainous plot?

He wanted to cry.

Why was it that when he was actually evil, no one believed it?

And when he was innocent, people misunderstood him anyway?!

Such a tough life.

Whoosh!

A shadow burst into the room.

Sharp razor-like claws extended, slicing through with deadly speed.

"Grrrrhh!"

A feral growl echoed through the cave.

Su Xiaobai's first instinct?

Oh. Finally, soone wants to kill again.

His second instinct? Wait...The creature wasn't lunging at him — It was going straight for Zhu Qing!

"What—?!"

She barely had ti to react, but she didn't need to.

BOOM!

With a casual slap, she sent the creature flying, its massive body crashing against the stone wall, leaving deep cracks.

Zhu Qing blinked before muttering under her breath, "Huh...So weak?" She turned toward Su Xiaobai, frowning slightly. "It seems you were the real target."

Su Xiaobai shrugged. "Who isn't trying to kill these days?"

He walked over to the twitching creature, stepping closer for a better look. And when he finally saw it up close, his brows lifted slightly.

Well, well.

Now this was interesting.

Su Xiaobai squatted down, lips twitching as he studied the creature sprawled on the floor like a drunken disciple who had one too many spiritual brews.

Snowy white fur, elegant yet wild. A little over a ter in length, paws broad and sturdy like a tiger's, but a face… soft, delicate, downright kitty-like. If not for the fact that Zhu Qing had bitch-slapped it into unconsciousness, it might have looked downright majestic.

Most notably—two fluffy tails twitched behind it.

One burned faintly with an orange glow, flickering like a candle in a brothel room. The other exuded a chilling mist, cold enough to make a man's balls shrivel.

Zhu Qing, standing behind him, raised a brow. "A cat? Since when did you start petting cats?"

Su Xiaobai gave her a side glance. "It's not just a cat—it's a wild cat. A lynx, to be precise."

She snorted. "Still a cat."

Ignoring her, Su Xiaobai leaned in closer, his fingers reaching for its fur. The lynx's eyes cracked open slightly, revealing shimring aqua irises before rolling back. Fainted again.

He sighed. Then, without hesitation, he reached around and lifted its tails.

"…What are you doing?" Zhu Qing took a full step back, face twisted in pure horror.

Su Xiaobai's lips twitched. "Qingqing, I'm checking if it's male or female. Can you not look at like I'm about to commit a war cri?"

Zhu Qing did not look convinced.

He gave the tails a little wiggle, confirming what he already suspected. "Yup. It's a she."

Then, without a second thought, he scooped up the unconscious lynx and carried it to his bed.

Soft. Fluffy. Heavy.

As he pressed his fingers into the plush fur, a satisfied sigh escaped him.

This. This was nice.

Damn, he'd wanted sothing this soft for so long. Maybe he should have stolen sothing from the Beast Peak earlier.

Behind him, Zhu Qing watched, face complex.

"…Why does this feel so wrong to watch?"

Su Xiaobai ignored her, gently patting the lynx's belly.

"Wake it up."

Zhu Qing clicked her tongue.

Reluctantly, she reached out, pressing two fingers to the lynx's forehead. A spark of spiritual energy surged through its body.

A second later, the lynx stirred.

"Grrrr…"
