Zhou Mingyu’s funeral was postponed for several days because of the Li Family’s troubles!
The light rain kept falling, pattering down continuously. Li Siru stood in front of the mourning hall, her face bloodless, as she bent over repeatedly to receive condolences, like a chanical wooden puppet.
With Mr. Li’s collapse, there wasn’t a single person in the Li Family who could take charge; it was thanks to the help of the butler that the funeral was able to proceed smoothly.
As Li Siru bent over to express her thanks, she noticed two familiar pairs of feet in front of her and then slowly looked up.
Tu ijiao sighed softly and said, "Can we talk?"
She didn’t know where to direct her gaze; given that it was her mother’s funeral, Li Siru calmly followed her out.
Lu Xinguo followed alongside, unchanged.
She stood in front, looking fragile as if she might fall down at any mont. She had been the sa in the Lu Family before, but only now did Tu ijiao seriously notice how truly heart-rending she appeared.
"What is it?" Her voice was slightly hoarse, and she couldn’t resist coughing lightly.
"My condolences," Tu ijiao mouthed those words.
"Many people have been saying that to lately; you don’t need to make a point of it. I’m still very busy, please excuse ."
She turned, seeming ready to leave, and Tu ijiao hurriedly said, "Your mother’s funeral could be arranged so well entirely thanks to Beiyao helping your family’s butler. He has done it ticulously; what else are you busy with?"
It was him?!
Li Siru paused, no wonder the butler hadn’t consulted her about anything, yet managed to handle things so thoroughly.
Li Siru turned to her, "Lu Beiyao caused my mother to delay her treatnt and pass away, should I thank him for killing my mother and then holding a funeral for her?"
Tu ijiao found her words all stuck in her throat, "I didn’t an it like that."
Lu Xinguo quickly said, "Daughter-in-law, she didn’t an it like that."
"My mother is already dead, and I am not your daughter-in-law!"
Lu Xinguo’s face alternated between blue and white, while Tu ijiao took a breath, walked up to her, and said, "With regard to your mother’s situation, I believe Beiyao certainly didn’t do it intentionally. Moreover, I heard your mother was already in the late stage and unwilling to cooperate with the treatnt herself; this can’t be entirely blad on Beiyao... I didn’t an it like that; what I an is, you probably don’t understand the agony that chemotherapy inflicts on patients, but I have seen it. Surely, your mother wouldn’t want to endure that kind of pain."
"Sisi, chemotherapy is too painful, Mom doesn’t want to do it anymore!"
Li Siru kept her head lowered, silent and reserved.
Seeing her not so resistant, Tu ijiao then spoke, "I’m sorry! I have never said these three words to anyone in my life. Even when having a reunion dinner together before, I couldn’t bring myself to say it. But afterward, I thought it over; for a long ti, I realized I do owe you an apology."
Li Siru still did not respond at all.
"I... just like you, the Tu Family values sons over daughters; I’m no different from you. Being able to marry into the Lu Family, with your father-in-law supporting , is my good fortune. I am a bit overbearing and difficult. But previously, I never harbored any bad intentions toward anyone. Although when Beiyao said he wanted to marry you, I was sowhat unhappy; your sister was better than you in every way, yet he ca back to tell he didn’t want to get engaged to your sister, he wanted to marry you."
Li Siru glanced at her; Lu Beiyao wanted to marry her so long ago? So, his pursuit of her at that ti... was genuine?
