Chapter 6. History Alteration
The sudden rift had escalated in danger level, and Yoo Se-hee was on the brink of death.
There was no ti.
But my constellation had a way to buy ti.
[The Unnad Constellation proposes 《History Alteration》 to complete the promotion of the spirit Henrietta (★☆).]
[During History Alteration, real-world ti freezes, and you possess a past history recorded by the Yeto Constellation.]
[Activating History Alteration consus remaining achievents. Current remaining achievents: 1.]
The new stigma I gained upon awakening: History Alteration.
A unique privilege of my constellation, allowing the rewriting of a spirit’s history. Details flooded my mind.
Using an achievent would delay my next awakening, but with the situation so dire, I activated History Alteration without hesitation.
“I’ll find a way to save you and be back soon. Just hold on.”
Glancing at Yoo Se-hee, trembling and bleeding from her mouth, I closed my eyes.
Blink.
When I opened them, I was no longer in her room but in a completely different place.
A damp, dark cave filled with the stench of beasts. The sll was similar to the one from the goblin rider I had just killed, so I quickly identified it.
‘A goblin den.’
I tried to stand but froze, feeling sothing strange in my chest and groin.
‘…?’
Sothing was there that shouldn’t be, and sothing that should be was gone. Touching my biceps, I found the firm muscles from Bone-Shedding Rebirth were missing.
My body had beco female. Specifically, Henrietta’s body.
‘So this is what possession feels like. I couldn’t even take down a single goblin in this body.’
To assess my capabilities, I focused inward. The twelve stars and my constellation’s presence, which usually welcod , were absent.
‘The only skills I can use are Henrietta’s and my own.’
【Henrietta (★☆)】

General Awakening Skill: 《Monster Taming》

Destiny Awakening Skill: 《Transcendence》
The skills from my other spirits and the stigmas from my constellation were unusable, likely because I was in Henrietta’s body.
‘I can’t use destiny awakening skills that require risking my life.’
Without the 《Nine Lives》 stigma, I only had one life.
‘So I have to change history using only Henrietta’s abilities and my own.’
Changing it wasn’t too difficult. In the original history, Henrietta was a re village girl, not even a one-star spirit. Now, she was at two-star (★☆) level.
‘The key is how to change it.’
Activating History Alteration for her promotion ant her current promotion was incomplete. I had suspected as much—her general skill listed as , and no destiny awakening skill had erged. To fully reach two-star (★★), I needed to fill those gaps in this altered history.
But that wasn’t enough.
‘I didn’t activate History Alteration just to complete Henrietta’s promotion.’
I needed solutions for the escalated three-star monsters from the sudden rift and a way to save Yoo Se-hee from her synchronization overload.
I had an idea.
‘If synchronization overload is the issue, I could regulate it with Overmind.’
The problem was applying Overmind to soone else. So far, I had only synchronized with my contracted spirits and my constellation. Synchronizing with another person was no easy feat.
‘That’s where the goblin rider’s skills co in.’
The rider’s skills were and . The forr allowed bonding with a tad dire wolf, the latter communication with fellow goblin riders via thoughts.
As I thought of the rider’s skills—
[First clue for History Alteration acquired.]
[Acquire the general skill .]
A system ssage appeared, guiding my path, likely influenced by my constellation’s will within the History Alteration stigma. This confird it: with , I could connect Overmind to others, potentially saving Yoo Se-hee.
‘The next issue is dealing with the three-star monster.’
I had a guess about what would appear. When a rift spawned a single type of monster like dire wolves and goblin riders, their higher-tier counterparts were predictable.
‘Probably a two-star alpha dire wolf and a three-star hobgoblin rider.’
Though taught later in the training camp, my pre-regression monster studies let recall their abilities. If goblin riders used 《Integration》 with dire wolves, hobgoblin riders and alpha dire wolves bound integrated goblin wolf riders into a 《Swarm》.
‘All for one, one for all.’
A hobgoblin rider’s swarm made the group as dangerous as a four-star monster. Even promising candidates who underwent Bone-Shedding Rebirth would struggle against such a foe if fighting individually.
‘If the enemy unites to grow stronger, why can’t we?’
Henrietta had already acquired the rider’s core skill, , reaching two-star status. If I gained as the first clue suggested, she’d likely gain the awakening skill 《Integration》, like goblin riders.
Without Overmind, that’s where it would end. But combining with could unlock an awakening skill beyond 《Integration》.
As if agreeing, another system ssage appeared.
[Second clue for History Alteration acquired.]
[Awaken the destiny awakening skill 《Swarm》.]
This covered all the real-world challenges. Now, I could focus on History Alteration.
‘But when is this?’
Being in a goblin den ant it was before her escape, but—
A small figure entered the space where Henrietta was.
“Mother.”
A goblin speaking human language, wearing a sword—likely a one-star goblin swordsman.
“The escape preparations are ready. This way.”
I almost raised my guard but, hearing the goblin’s words, feigned calm and thought quickly.
‘So this is the escape mont.’
Following quietly, I recalled Henrietta’s past, seen twice in visions during starlight baptisms before and after regression.
Unlike other abducted won, Henrietta didn’t hate the goblin children she unwillingly bore, raising them with care. With their help, she escaped the goblin den, as now. But upon returning to her village, she was stoned to death, treated as a monster like the goblins.
‘Bitter mory.’
Her teaching young goblins and escaping earned the Yeto Constellation’s interest, granting her the destiny awakening skill 《Monster Taming》 and one-star spirit status. But to beco a two-star spirit now, I needed a different future.
The final clue lay in her vision.
‘On her way back to the village after escaping, Henrietta passed through a dire wolf pack’s territory.’
Not just any pack, but one led by a two-star alpha dire wolf. An ordinary village girl would’ve been prey, but Henrietta wasn’t ordinary. Though she lacked before becoming a spirit, her innate affinity for monsters existed even then.
Rejected by humans, she was favored by monsters.
‘This talent was too great for a one-star spirit.’
Had she chosen the monsters’ territory over the human village, she could’ve beco sothing greater. Ironically, her salvation lay among monsters, who failed to unite due to infighting.
The image of a Monster Lord uniting them flashed in my mind. The achievent needed to complete her two-star promotion took shape.
‘Co to think of it, the goblin group that abducted Henrietta didn’t have riders.’
If a pure goblin group combined with dire wolves, it could be enough for 《Swarm》.
[Third clue for History Alteration acquired.]
[Ta the alpha dire wolf’s pack and cultivate goblin riders.]
[With all clues acquired, the constellation’s blessing accompanies your path.]
[The likelihood of history aligning with your desired direction increases.]
Confird by the system ssage, I looked at the goblin swordsman leading the way with renewed resolve. Perhaps due to Henrietta’s body, I felt more affection than hostility. Even the goblin’s face, synonymous with treachery, seed cute—likely due to blood ties.
“Gobhan.”
“Yes, Mother.”
The goblin guiding , Gobhan, was Henrietta’s first child, the eldest of three goblin brothers. The goblins guarding the passage were her other children.
‘Gobhan’s preparations must an them.’
Without their help, escaping wouldn’t be so easy. The second, Gobtu, and third, Gobsan, stood with grim resolve to clear the path.
Mimicking Henrietta’s speech, which ca naturally as if her body rembered it, I spoke.
“What will you do if I escape?”
“If they find out we helped you, Father won’t let us live. We’ll have to flee elsewhere.”
A lie. Even without , I knew. A mother’s instinct, perhaps.
“You’re prepared to die, aren’t you, Gobhan?”
His face stiffened, struck by the truth.
Henrietta knew too. Her escape required sacrifice. In the original history, she ignored it, but I couldn’t now.
“Don’t.”
“But… if we don’t hold him back, Father will catch you quickly.”
Her children planned to delay the group’s leader, a two-star goblin champion, to ensure her escape. In the original history, they likely died.
“How could a mother sacrifice her children?”
This was Henrietta’s regret as a spirit—ignoring her children’s sacrifice only to die in vain.
Knowing this, I couldn’t let them die.
“Are you… giving up on escaping?”
“Yes. …But I plan to kill your father.”
The goblin champion, who abducted and ruined Henrietta’s life, was the greatest obstacle in this History Alteration. Without him, her one-star children could’ve overtaken the group.
‘If he weren’t a berserker, I could’ve tad him with Monster Taming.’
Even if tad normally, his berserk state would break control, making his death inevitable. His obsession with Henrietta would never allow her freedom.
I had a hunch that without defeating him, History Alteration wouldn’t conclude properly.
Gobhan shook his head.
“I want to kill Father too, but it’s impossible.”
“For us alone, maybe.”
“Gob?”
“If we lack strength, we seek help outside. Now’s our chance.”
“Help from where…?”
“I plan to enlist the wolves’ help. Will you trust and follow ?”
Gobhan looked disappointed at the ntion of wolves but didn’t refuse.
“Understood.”
“Then bring the others. We’ll go together.”
“The front is clear, so go ahead. I’ll bring them quickly.”
The passage’s end was near, sunlight visible in the distance.
As Gobhan hurried back, I, in Henrietta’s slow steps, exited the passage.
The fully assembled goblin trio appeared, but a roar echoed from deep within the cave.
—Gobaaaa!
The goblin champion’s roar, translated by , called for Henrietta. He had already noticed the escape.
“Father’s gone mad. We need to hurry.”
“Let’s.”
Wary of the pursuit, I quickened my pace toward the dire wolves’ forest.
