The Alchemy Array in Attilicia’s claws exploded. The hoard of treasures, including the entire demi-plane itself, seed to have been forcibly pulled through the planar barrier.
At that mont, the ignorant Drow finally understood for the first ti.
What mountains of gold and seas of silver truly ant!
What wealth that could rival nations truly ant!
But now, all these mountainous and oceanic treasures were being ’sacrificed’ to the Chromatic Dragon Queen Tiamat, who was laughing across the planes.
With this hoard added as fuel, like an imnse stockpile of kindling, the fire tornado symbolizing the godly power of the Chromatic Dragon Queen began to expand wildly.
Even Rose, the Spider Queen, realized the danger. In an instant, she stopped focusing her divine power to clash head-on with Tiamat.
Instead, she concentrated a portion of her divine power. Her statue’s eyes suddenly lit up, gazing through the fire tornado. Outside the city, the Red Dragon David hovered in mid-air. He was watching the spectacular scene as the "Wrath of Tiamat" leveled one-third of Spider Nest City, and he finally laughed heartily, his hatred sated.
If she could just sever Tiamat’s link to her divine power, the victory in this divine power showdown would ultimately be hers, Rose’s.
"Hmph!" Tiamat, who had clearly grasped her opponent’s intentions, no longer focused solely on acquiring the treasures. Instead, she gathered all her descending divine power.
The fire tornado outside the Temple suddenly shrank into a point the size of a fist.
The next mont, it exploded like a miniature sun.
BOOM!!!
The divine power enveloping the entire Spider Temple was finally blasted apart.
But ironically, the divine power Rose had concentrated in her final effort managed to save several individuals. This included the traitorous Alianna, the Silver Dragon Attilicia, and a few Drow who had not yet been sacrificed.
Simultaneously, the terrifying blaze, having beco too imnse, was blasted back in the direction it ca from in a catastrophic torrent.
CRACK!
Several terrifying cracks spread from the Spider Temple. The stone statue of the Spider Queen also fractured, the divine fire in its pupils dimming and then extinguishing. As it crumbled, many of its ornantal jewels were snatched away by the receding tendrils of fla.
It was a pity that Rose, having lost her connection to her divine power, was too enraged to witness this.
CRACK!
David, watching the spectacular scene from outside the city, found his elation turning to dismay.
Perhaps Tiamat had exerted too much divine power, as even the minor divine grace of "Wrath of Tiamat" could not withstand it. A bloody gash burst open on David’s wrist, and the brand-like inscription shattered.
No way! Was it really a one-ti thing?
He then saw the Destruction Fla, which had previously surged forward, now rushing uncontrollably back toward him.
Damn it!
What a rip-off!
David was imdiately engulfed in the sea of flas.
Fortunately, as a Red Dragon, he was nearly immune to fla damage.
However, the impact wave still sent him flying back two city blocks, and he tumbled quite a bit.
When the flas dissipated, the once-prosperous Spider Nest City looked as if an invisible Monster had savagely torn a chunk out of it.
The southern third of the city had been razed to the ground.
David suddenly felt a sharp pain in his wrist.
He saw the "Wrath of Tiamat" inscription, which had already cracked due to the collapse of the divine link, begin to twist and restructure itself even as it crumbled.
When it finished reforming, the original "Wrath of Tiamat" had astonishingly transford into...
"Protection of Tiamat".
