Hearing Hannah’s words, I felt a pang in my chest. There was sothing about this that gave a gut feeling of dread. I didn’t resist this ti but let Jas take to the hospital.

After a series of tests, it turned out that there was indeed an issue with my breast. It was a bit more serious than before, but fortunately, it was detected early. So, with the right dication and a cheery

disposition, I should be fine.

"Thank you, doctor," I sighed in relief, accepting the prescription from him, ready to get my dication.

As I was about to take the elevator downstairs to the pharmacy, a man wearing a face mask stepped out. His accent didn’t sound local, quite foreign actually. He was asking soone nearby, "Excuse , do you know if Dr. Catherine works in this hospital?"

Catherine? I was a bit taken aback at the ntion of the na. I couldn’t help but take a second look at the man. I couldn’t make out his facial features because of the mask, but he had thick eyebrows that

seed to join together.

"No idea, sorry," the person he was asking waved him off.

He sighed and stepped out of the elevator. When he saw , he asked the sa question.

I knew Catherine, but I wasn’t sure why this man was looking for her.

"The Dr. Catherine you’re looking for, is she a woman?" I asked instead.

His eyes lit up at my question and he nodded eagerly, "Yes, she’s a woman, she’s a miracle worker!"

Hearing him describe Catherine as a miracle worker, I was almost certain herring to the Catherine I knew. I

smiled slightly, "I don’t exactly know her, but she has tre before. She’s indeed very good at what she does. Are you looking for her for treatnt too?"

He seed taken aback, as though he was unsure of how to respond. After a fe seconds, he nodded,

"Yes, I need Dr. Catherine’s help. Do you have her contact detail"

"I don’t have her contact details anymore, but I think I can find a way to get them. C give your number? I’ll let you know once I have her number," I replied.

He seed desperate to find Catherine and quickly gave his number.

Jas was waiting for on the ground floor of the hospital, and I was worried that my conversation with the man would reveal my acquaintance with Catherine, so I quickly left after confirming his number

was correct.

"How are you feeling? Are you okay?" Jas was already waiting for when I stepped out of the elevator, he asked with concern.

"Nothing serious, just got so dication," I replied nonchalantly, not wanting Jas to worry about my health. I then went to collect my dicine and got in Jas’s car to head ho.

Throughout the car ride, I was deep in thought. There seed to be more and more mysteries surrounding Catherine, and they all sohow seed to be connected to Jones.

The mont I returned to Jas’s place, my phone rang. It was the man I t at the hospital, Dylan,

I picked up the call and Dylan said anxiously, "Miss, if you can find Dr. Catherine’s contact details for

soon, I can reward you handsoly. Is that okay?"

"Is your condition very serious?" I asked deliberately.

"Uh..." Dylan hesitated, then replied, "Yes, my condition is serious. I need to find her as soon as possible."

"Alright." I didn’t ask any more questions and ended the call.

After hanging up, I imdiately contacted a private investigator I knew from before. Depending on his capabilities, he could extract a wealth of information from just a phone number. The more he could find,

the more I would pay him.

I had a strong feeling that Dylan’s connect with Catherine was no ordinary one. He was definitely not there just to seek dical help from her. Perhaps there was a surprise waiting for .

The investigator didn’t disappoint . Two days later, he provided with detailed information about Dylan.

Dylan was indeed not from here. The country he was living in was where Catherine had been residing all

these years. I initially thought Dylan might be Catherine’s colleague overseas. However, to my surprise, he was a long-term volunteer at a welfare ho.

So, he couldn’t be her colleague, let alone her friend. After all, what friend doesn’t have contact details?

So, why was he looking for Catherine?

This was the key question. I thought hard but couldn’t co up with a plausible reason. Could it be that he was genuinely seeking dical help from Catherine?

My phone rang at that mont. It was a call from my mom. It had been quite a few days since she last called . Was she still upset with over Jones? I quickly picked up the call.

"Mom," I greeted her.

"Eliana, are you back in the city?" my mom asked in a stern tone.

My heart skipped a beat. It seed like my mom had found sothing out and was here to confront . Especially with Damon’s situation, if she found out, her heart might not be able to take it.

Just as I was hesitating about how to respond, my mom spoke again, "I’ve heard about the troubles at Coleman Co. and the Smith family. Have they both gone mad? How many innocent people have

they implicated?"

"You and dad both know?" I asked.

"Of course. We’ve been pretty busy lately, but we’ve heard so rumors. What’s going on with Jones?

I never thought he would be so extre. Isn’t he supposed to be working as a doctor? Where did he find the ti to plan all this?"

I breathed a sigh of relief. Judging by my mom’s tone, she wasn’t here to bla . In fact, she seed to be starting to see Jones’s radical side.

"I’m not entirely sure either. By the ti I found out about this, trouble had already started brewing at Coleman Co. Damon is handling it now," I replied, feeling a headache coming on at the ntion of the

situation.

My mom sighed, "Is it because of you?"

I wasn’t sure how to answer this question. I felt like part of the reason was indeed because of , but it wasn’t entirely my fault.

At that mont, I heard my dad’s voice over the phone, "Eliana, just focus on raising the kids from now on. I don’t think either Jones or Damon would be a good fit for you. They’re both too hot-headed, they

would be difficult to live with!"

This was exactly what I wanted to hear. For a mont, I felt as if a blessing had co out of this misfortune. At least the pressure from my parents was off.

"Yes, I understand!" I replied without hesitation.

The call from my mom this ti was devoid of any reprimands or argunts. We chatted amiably for a while before ending the call, which greatly eased my tension. With the support of my parents, I felt more courageous to face the upcoming challenges.

In the blink of an eye, I’ve been back in the city for a couple of days. Over these days, my attention was riveted on the affairs of Coleman Co. and the Smith family. I’m not sure if my words that day had any effect, but things seed to have quieted down on Jones’s end, which was evident from the fluctuations in the stock market.
