That was the start of the cold war between Damon and . From that day forward, we didn’t have any contact for two bloody months.

During the peak of sumr, the air was filled with heatwaves, but that was nothing compared to Damon’s passion for Ariel. I constantly saw pictures of them getting all cuddly on the internet. Like that ti when Damon bought an island for Ariel and nad it after her. Or when Ariel would often deliver homade lunches to Damon at the Coleman Co. Building. Their interactions were increasingly couple- like, all mushy and lovey-dovey.

My feelings, on the other hand, went from jealous rage to a sort of numbness.

My friends, especially Luna, were utterly bamboozled.

"Are you two filming a drama series or sothing?" Luna asked, puzzled. "When we were against you, you insisted on chasing Damon. When we stopped opposing, you had a fall out and divorced from him. It looked like you wanted to get back together; we opposed it again, and now... you’ve broken up with him again?"

Clara and Sofia were also wearing bewildered expressions.

I didn’t know what to say, so I just chuckled awkwardly.

"Are you done with Damon this ti?" Luna asked bluntly.

"I don’t know." My answer made them all drop their jaws. They couldn’t believe I might still have a thing with Damon.

But that was what I truly felt, and I didn’t want to hide it from them. It’d only complicate things and make seem dishonest.

Just as Luna was about to dig deeper, her phone rang.

"Are you free? Okay, I’ll be right there!" After hanging up, Luna was all excited. She grabbed her bag and was ready to leave, "Guys, the amazing obstetrician and gynecologist I told you about before is back in town. She can see today. I have to go!"

Hearing that, I stood up subconsciously and said, "I’ll go with you."

Luna was taken aback, "You’re coming with ?"

"Yeah, I have nothing better to do anyway." I replied casually.

"Alright then, let’s get going." Luna was in a hurry. Without even saying goodbye to Clara and Sofia, she dragged out of the house. The doctor who just returned from abroad was nad Snow. She was said to be young and had been working in a foreign hospital.

Luna couldn’t stop singing her praises, making look forward to eting her.

Snow seed to be a mysterious figure, reputed for her superb dical skills and her knack for diagnosing and treating illnesses, especially in obstetrics and gynecology.

That day, she arranged to et Luna at a guesthouse hotel.

I was a bit puzzled. I thought, "Don’t we need dical instrunts for a consultation? Is she a miracle worker or a quack?"

When I expressed my doubts to Luna, she imdiately cited various examples to prove Snow’s dical prowess.

When we arrived at the guesthouse, Luna and I were standing in front of a room when Ariel ca out before we could knock.

"I booked the only appointnt with Dr. Snow today. You’ll have to co another ti," Ariel said coldly.

"Bullshit! She just called half an hour ago and asked to co over!" Luna shot back angrily.

Ariel didn’t seem to care, "So what? She changed her mind and decided to see today. You know about my health condition. If I don’t get proper treatnt and rest, it will affect my future pregnancy plans."

The words ’pregnancy plans’ hit like a ton of bricks.

Was she planning to have a baby with Damon? That was the first thing that ca to my mind.

"You, with your weak health, want to have a baby? Dream on!" Luna spat out, "Don’t cause any harm or even death when the ti cos!"

Ariel was fuming at Luna’s words.

Just as they were arguing, the door cracked open. A muffled female voice ca from inside, "Which one is Ariel? Co in."

"Dr. Snow, it’s !" Ariel imdiately perked up.

As she was about to enter, I couldn’t help but question, "Dr. Snow, didn’t you call my friend Luna half an hour ago? You asked her to co, didn’t you?"

The door was halfway open, revealing a woman dressed in a white dress standing behind. Only her silhouette was visible. She peeked out with a mask on her face, bangs covering her eyes.

Her gaze shifted around and finally landed on . For a mont, there was a change in her eyes, but she quickly regained her

composure.

"I dialed the wrong number. I’m sorry. Maybe next ti." Snow’s voice was clear and pleasant. She nodded at Luna and , then pulled

Ariel in and closed the door.

Luna and I exchanged a glance. I could see the anger in her eyes.

But there was nothing we could do. We left helplessly.

Before leaving, I couldn’t help but take one last look at the door. For so reason, I felt uneasy about the way Snow looked at .

Did she recognize ?

With a head full of questions, Luna and I left the guesthouse and went our separate ways.

Those days, my mom had also noticed the news about Damon and Ariel. She would occasionally remind . What baffled the most was that she still believed Jones was a better match for , even after told her that he was a scher.

And today, I saw Jones at my house again.

He was sitting in the living room, having coffee with my mom, and discussing heart health. Seeing co in, he put down his cup and gave a slight smile.

My mom, on the other hand, waved at , "Eliana, co join us. Have so coffee and chat with Dr. Jones."

I frowned, feeling uncomfortable, "I don’t want any coffee. I need to rest."

I was about to head upstairs when my mom stopped sternly, "Eliana, Dr. Jones is our guest. You need to be polite. Do you understand? Co here now!"

Ever since my mom went through a serious illness, she had changed a lot in her thinking, gotten more stubborn, and started to push around a bit.

Jones responded calmly, "Maybe she’s just tired and doesn’t want coffee. Taking a break wouldn’t hurt."

His words sounded like he was making excuses for in my mom’s ears.

My mom urged again, "Co over here. You used to be friends with Dr. Jones. Why are you being so cold?"

That ti, Jones didn’t speak up for . He just quietly looked at , as if waiting for to cave in.
