I never had the intention to scramble for the bouquet in the first place, but Sofia’s bouquet just had to fly in my direction.
I withdrew my hand, while Ariel on the other side reached out for it. Fine, let her have it.
Before I could react, the bouquet landed right in my arms, and Ariel fell to the ground with a loud thud.
"Ouch!" Ariel cried out in pain, clutching her right shoulder. That looked like it hurt.
Karen, who was standing behind us, imdiately rushed over to check on Ariel. "Are you alright? How did you fall?"
The guests were shocked by this sudden turn of events, craning their necks to see what was happening
I stood there, with bouquet in hand, having a bad feeling about the situation.
As expected, Ariel shot a pitiful look, then shook her head, "I’m fine. I shouldn’t have gone up to fight Eliana for the bouquet..."
When the bouquet was tossed, a dozen won scrambled for it, so physical contact was inevitable. People at the back couldn’t clearly see the actions of those in front. If Ariel claid that I pushed her, I could easily be misunderstood.
"Falling is a risk when scrambling for the bouquet; it’s just a minor injury: what’s the big deal?" Luna bluntly stated.
"But Ariel caught the bouquet! Eliana snatched it from her hands and pushed her down. Isn’t that too much?" Karen helped Ariel up, shooting an angry glare
I stood there, watching them spew nonsense. So of the guests would surely believe Ariel. After all, aside from Luna and the others, there were many unfamiliar faces.
Sure enough, whispers began to circulate
"She’s Damon’s ex wife, and Ariel is Damon’s ex-girlfriend. She must have done it on purpose, right?"
"Damon’s here too, did he see?"
"It did seem like Ariel caught the bouquet, then was robbed by Eliana."
Those who knew about my past with Ariel imdiately assud that I was intentionally getting back at her
I really didn’t want anything to do with Ariel anymore. Plus. I had no interest in getting married, so what was the point of fighting over the bouquet?
To avoid disrupting the wedding ceremony, Ariel and I were led away to the lounge by the staff
Just as we reached the lounge, the door was pushed open, and Damon walked in.
I hadn’t seen him in about half a month. Upon entering, he first glanced at , his eyes unreadable.
Damon, Ariel burst into tears as soon as she saw him
"Where are you hurt?" Damon walked over, his tone was surprisingly gentle.
Ariel touched her shoulder, her teary eyes made her look quite pitiful. "My shoulder hurts. It’s so embarrassing to fall in front of so many people"
Damon bent down to inspect Ariel’s shoulder. It was probably just a minor scrape, but girls tend to be a bit delicate. Damon seed willing to accept her
again.
I just don’t get it. What happened during this period that made Damon change his attitude towards Ariel so drastically?
"It’s all Eliana’s fault! I shouldn’t have let Ariel go up there. She just wanted to catch the bouquet and give it to you?" Karen’s accusations were full of bla towards and hinted at Ariel’s feelings for Damon
I watched them coldly. "Do you have proof?"
"Do we need proof? Everyone saw it!" Karen replied angrily.
Ariel was weeping pitifully. Damon turned to look at but didn’t say a word.
Just then, Jones’s voice ca from the door, "From what I saw, Ariel tripped herself. There are plenty of caras on site, just check the footage, and everyone will know"
I was stunned while looking at Jones. The mont his gaze t mine, it softened.
Ariel imdiately panicked, "You’re talking nonsense! I have a weak heart, so why would I trip myself? That’s risky!".
"Maybe to fra Eliana?" Jones chuckled coldly, not bothering to mince words.
My feelings were mixed. Up until now, the person who trusted most was still Jones.
Damon looked conflicted. He slightly distanced himself from Ariel and spoke in a cold tone, "If that’s the case, it’s a misunderstanding Ariel, apologize to Eliana"
After hearing Damon say that, Ariel’s face changed drastically. She couldn’t believe that Damon would side with Jones and protect at this mont.
I was taken aback. I instantly forgot what I was going to say
"Damon, how can you trust Eliana and doubt Ariel?" Karen asked bluntly
I trust facts. From Jones’s position at the ti, he could clearly see what happened. Damon didn’t waver or hesitate. He looked sharply at Ariel. "Since you falsely accused her, you should apologize for your actions."
Ariel’s chest was heaving, she was clearly agitated. She clutched her chest, starting to gasp for breath.
Karen quickly took out so dication she carried with her and fed it to Ariel, then angrily questioned Damon, "Don’t you know she has a weak heart? Are you trying to kill her?"
"Didn’t you bring dicine?" Jones nonchalantly said, "As long as she takes it, she’ll stabilize. If she still feels uncomfortable after taking the dicine, please send her to the hospital."
He used to be a doctor, so he left Karen and Ariel feeling extrely embarrassed.
Ariel’s voice trembled. "Damon, do you still favor her in your heart? Then why did you agree to see and have als together recently?"
"We now have a business partnership. You should ask Nancy about that" Damon’s voice was cold, lacking the gentleness he had shown earlier.
I stared at him, unsure of what he was thinking. Why did he always do contradictory things?
"Better apologize quickly. I have other things to attend to" I finally spoke to Ariel.
"I’m the one who got hurt here; why the hell should I be apologizing? Am I supposed to just soak up all this unfairness?" Ariel couldn’t stomach the reality as tears began streaming down her face. Her face turned red from the flurry of emotions
"Just because you’re hurt doesn’t an you’re in the right. Ariel, do you even have a sense of right and wrong anymore?" I was genuinely curious, was this the way she was raised?
Maybe Ariel, based on Damon’s recent behavior towards her, thought they were back together. She figured Damon would back her up no matter what, which was why she deliberately screwed over tonight.
But she got it all wrong. If Damon really loved her, all the past beef between her and wouldn’t have happened in the first place.
