Ariel didn’t move, she just patted her chest, as if she were calming herself down.

After a bit, she regained so color in her face and pulled out another thing from her bag, tossing it in front of , "I’m not going to beat around the bush. Just sign this."

It was a docunt. I took a quick look and couldn’t help but laugh, "Ariel, do you really think you can buy my family’s company like this?"

Ariel sounded like she was looking out for , "Eliana, given your family’s current state, why are you still holding on? Why not let go of this burden? If anything happens to your company, it’s going to affect your dad. He’s already in a pickle; you can’t let him suffer more, can you?"

"I don’t need you ddling in my family’s business. Ariel, do you really think it’s worth turning yourself into what you are now for a man?" I shot back.

At least the old Ariel would have never shown such a detestable side

Ariel was taken aback, then she put on a mocking smile and asked. "Don’t I look good now? I’m doing better than before, and I even have the ability to get back at you"

"If you could have resisted the allure of material things back then, maybe you’d still be with Joshua, preparing to get married like a normal couple. Maybe Damon would still love you and be willing to give you his all. You’re the one who changed, blaming won’t do any good, get it?" I felt a little sad for Ariel. Ariel didn’t take my words to heart. From her hate filled eyes, I could tell how much she despised .

She fixed her long hair and said, "I have never regretted breaking up with that poor guy, Joshua. You don’t have to lecture with your cheesy lines, you’d better spend this ti thinking about selling your company."

After saying that, she got out of the car, leaving the docunt in the car

I rolled down the window, tore the docunt in half, and threw it out. It landed near Ariel’s feet.

She looked surprised when she saw the torn docunt on the ground, then she glared at angrily

I didn’t bother to look at her again. I just turned around and left, no matter how much she hated

But Ariel’s words that day reminded that they would definitely take action against my family’s company. So I needed to get the support of my uncles as soon as possible.

Since one of my uncle, Ben’s house was quite far from the city, I had to work overti for a couple of days to take care of the important work- before I could have set off for Ben’s house.

Just as I was leaving the city , I ran into Zoe. She had a shoulder bag on and was looking around at the gate. When she saw , she imdiately ca over to stop ." Eliana!"

"Why are you here?" I stopped the car to ask her.

"I ca to look for Damon, but I can’t get in. Can you help ?" Zoe leaned against the car window, her eyes pleading

I hadn’t seen Damon for a couple of days; he probably didn’t live there all the ti.

Without thinking too much, I got out of the car to help Zoe swipe her card and let her in.

She was very touched, "Thanks, Eliana. Where are you off to?"

"I’m going on a long trip. There’s sothing I need to take care of." I replied briefly and said goodbye to Zoe.

I thought it was a trivial matter, but soon Damon called , sounding very upset, "Where are you?"

I answered, "I’m driving, what’s up?"

He sounded very annoyed, "Who let you let that annoying woman in? Do you think I have it too easy and decided to give a hard ti?"

His question caught off guard. Zoe and Damon were at least friends. It was perfectly normal for her to look for Damon and for to help her open the gate.

"She wanted to see you but couldn’t get in, so I helped her. Isn’t she your friend?" I asked calmly, not at all flustered.

It was not like I let a big bad guy into Damon’s house, I had a clear conscience.

Damon didn’t see it that way, he seed very unhappy with my casual help and wanted to take responsibility for it.

I thought it was boring and simply hung up. To avoid him pestering , I blocked him.

By nightfall, I had arrived at Ben’s house. Since the relationship between my mom and my uncle, Ben, had been strained for years, I didn’t visit that often.

To my delight, he didn’t shut out.

After chatting for a couple of hours, my delight was gone. I had no idea that the relationship between my mom and Ben had beco so bad.

It was dark outside, and I sat in the car, not able to snap out of it for a long ti.

Suddenly, the sound of a horn jolted out of my low spirits. I glanced at the rear-view mirror and was taken aback.

Why was Damon’s car there?

Before I could figure out what was going on, I saw Damon getting out of his car and striding towards mine.

I rolled down the window a third of the way and turned to look at Damon outside, "What are you doing here? Are you stalking ?"

"Where did you learn this habit of always blocking people?" Damon bent down to look at , his eyes dark as night.

He ca all that way just for that?

I was in a bad mood and spoke in a low voice, "Sorry, I was busy and couldn’t be distracted. Didn’t you say you wouldn’t bother again?"

Damon’s face darkened, and he said coldly. "I did say that, but only if you stopped provoking first."

"Did I?" I asked, puzzled.

"You brought Zoe, causing her to harass at ho. Isn’t that you looking for trouble?" Damon was very displeased, "Do you know? She’s really annoying"

I’ve always thought that Damon liked the feeling of being bothered, otherwise, why would that girl always be around him?

"Damon, you used to say I was a pain in the ass. Doesn’t that ring a bell?" I tried to reason with him patiently, "You should give this girl a shot; her personality is a perfect counterbalance to yours."

Damon cut off, more than a little irked, "No way!"

I was left speechless for a mont.

He stared at and asked, "Now I think you and I could balance each other out too; do you want to give it a try?"
