"I just ran into Ariel" I started, looking at Damon.
Damon frowned and the grin on Zoe’s face behind him faded a lot.
She seed to be more scared of Ariel, but didn’t seem to give a damn about , his ex-wife.
"I ca to the District to discuss cooperation with Scarlett Enterprises. They were very friendly to before I ca here, but now they’re avoiding and chatting happily with Ariel instead. Don’t tell this has nothing to do with you" I said bluntly.
Damon’s expression didn’t change, but Zoe looked surprised.
I ignored her reaction, waiting for Damon to respond.
"You think every bad thing that happens has sothing to do with ? Am I really that bad in your eyes?" Damon retorted angrily. There was a chill in his eyes.
"You don’t have to get mad. If I’m wrong", I apologize. After seeing Damon’s expression, I knew he wasn’t lying.
Ariel was just using his na to provoke .
I was about to get in my car and leave when Damon stopped , "Don’t rush off. If you’re suspicious of , why don’t you confront about it?"
Zoe’s eyes were darting between and Damon. She looked very concerned.
She suddenly grabbed Damon’s arm, "Why are you so angry? You treated her so poorly, it’s normal for her to suspect you!"
Damon looked really annoyed. He shoved Zoe’s hand off and said impatiently. "Mind your own business!"
Zoe was taken aback and then plastered on an awkward smile. She wasn’t easily embarrassed. She had been getting along well with Damon, so she probably thought she was special to him.
But she quickly shrugged it off. "Eliana, I wanted to help you deal with him, but he’s too pissed. I can’t help you"
I smiled at her, "Thanks."
Damon glanced at Zoe, then grabbed my wrist and walked off to the side. "Let’s talk."
Zoe watched us walk away, waiting patiently.
Damon wanted to talk about how he thought his image in my mind was too negative, and he hoped I could change my opinion,
I blad almost every difficulty and misfortune I encountered on him. He couldn’t stand it.
But it wasn’t my fault. During my past life, he left a deep psychological scar on . He used so many extre thods to tornt my family, so I would unconsciously think all the bad things were done by him
And Ariel kept misleading on purpose
I’m not that low If I really wanted to take revenge on you, I wouldn’t have waited for two years Damon concluded. His brow furrowed throughout the conversation.
"Alright, I got it. Maybe I’ve just been under too much pressure recently and misunderstood you. I’m sorry." I apologized calmly. I didn’t have the energy to argue with him anymore.
Damon’s face seed to relax a little. He looked towards Zoe, but she was gone.
His eyes had a strange look. I tried to speak in a soothing tone, "You should go find her."
"No need. She’s too annoying" Damon’s voice was a little low
"Really? Damon, you’ve been treating her differently. Haven’t you noticed?" I felt a little sad. "I used to cling to you like that, but you didn’t treat as well as you’re treating her. You wouldn’t even talk to "
If back then, he could have treated in the way he currently treated Zoe, maybe there would still be a future between us. But unfortunately, there wasn’t.
Damon was disgusted by what I said, "You’re not her, so of course I won’t treat you the sa."
I found it quite ironic to see him deny it.
"If you don’t admit it, then forget it. Ti will tell." I took a deep breath, "Alright, I have things to do. Bye!"
I turned and hurried away, leaving Damon alone by the roadside.
Autumn in the District was cold, and the roadside was covered with red maple leaves. Damon stood among the fallen leaves, getting further and further away from .
I thought this business trip would end in failure. I was prepared for the worst. However, on the eve of my return to the city, I received a call from Mr. Dylan of Scarlett Enterprises. He said they were willing to cooperate with my company and requested to et with imdiately to sign the contract
"Mr. Dylan, I’m looking forward to our cooperation!"
After signing the contract, I shook hands with Mr. Dylan and asked the question that had been bothering , "I don’t quite understand. What made you change your mind?"
Mr. Dylan laughed and replied, "No particular reason. I just feel that your company is strong, so I hope to cooperate with you for us both to prosper in the future"
Although he said that, I always felt that things were not as simple as they seed to be. Then, Mr. Dylan received a phone call, "Alright, I’ll co and have dinner with you right away. You’re all grown up, but you still need your dad to accompany you for als?"
After sending Mr. Dylan off, I returned to the hotel. Along the way, I felt like I was dreaming.
When I reached the door of my room, I found Ariel waiting for
She looked furious. She lost control of her emotions as soon as she saw , "Eliana, what trick did you use to snatch Scarlett Enterprises? You’re so shaless!"
"We’re just competing fairly. How am I shaless? You’re being very rude, accusing like this" I said with a smile.
"You went to Damon, didn’t you? You know he wants to get back together with you, so you deliberately used him. You know he’s my boyfriend now! Isn’t that shaless?" Ariel was furious. Obviously, this cooperation was very important to her as well
Before I could answer, Damon’s voice ca from behind , "I didn’t help her."
Damon’s appearance made Ariel pull a total 180. She was all joy and surprise, then ran over to him with a pitiful look, grabbing his hand, "I knew you’d co looking for !"
I turned to look at Damon with amusent dancing in my eyes
Busy bee, wasn’t he?
"Mr. Coleman, thanks for clearing things up." I was feeling a bit lighter at this point, so I flashed him a smile.
Ariel wasn’t having any of it though, "Just a few days ago, Mr. Dylan and I were getting along just fine. We were about to sign a contract. How could he possibly change his mind out of the blue if nobody had ddled?"
She turned to look at Damon, "Damon, I’m your girlfriend. I’m the one who can give you what you want, right?"
Damon shot a aningful glance, and then, in a barely audible volu, he agreed.
I gave them a frosty smile. The word "loyalty" was clearly not in Damon’s dictionary. I had long since seen his true colors.
What I didn’t get, though, was what exactly Ariel could give Damon that he wanted? Her words seed to have so hidden implication.
I lowered my gaze, avoiding their stares, "Carry on with your chat. I’m off to rest. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t disturb anymore."
