Luna was taken aback for a mont, but quickly composed herself. She wasn’t afraid at all and raised a chair, ready to smash it.
Ariel cowered, hugging her head and looking terrified.
"Darling!" Mitch quickly grabbed the chair from Luna, pulling her into his arms "Don’t get physical, what if you hurt our baby? Rember what the doctor said, stability is good for the baby"
Luna’s eyes burned with fury "Mitch! If you continue to defend her in front of , I swear I’ll divorce you!"
"No way!" Mitch answered firmly, glancing at Ariel crouched on the floor, his gaze no longer sympathetic but wary and disgusted.
Not only was Luna surprised by his response, Ariel also couldn’t help but look up at him.
Ever since Damon introduced her to his social circle, her innocent and naive image had won over many, except for Damon’s family.
Then, another person appeared at the door.
I turned my head to see Damon standing coldly, looking at the chaotic scene in the ward, his tone irritable. "What happened?"
"I’m fine, Luna just misunderstood , so she ca to ask so questions." Ariel got up, clutching her injured forehead
Her eyes were full of grievance, looking straight at Damon.
Mitch’s eyes widened in anger. Ariel’s words were essentially complaining to Damon about Luna, weren’t they?
"Ariel, I think my wife didn’t misunderstand you" Mitch couldn’t help but retort.
Ariel looked visibly shocked, seemingly unable to understand why Mitch, who had always protected her, was suddenly cold towards her.
Damon’s deep, frosty gaze moved from Ariel to Luna and Mitch. It was hard to decipher his thoughts.
"Mitch... Did I do sothing wrong?" Ariel’s eyes welled up. "I know Luna is your wife and she’s pregnant, so I don’t want to fight with her. She wanted to hit with a chair, I endured it, but I’m sick too!"
Mitch’s face turned ugly. He seed to want to spit out the words he had just heard, but after seeing Damon, he held himself back.
I just glared at Damon, waiting for him to defend Ariel.
Damon ca over and helped Ariel sit on the bed, his voice indifferent." If you’re not feeling well, don’t move around."
Ariel imdiately looked like she was on the verge of tears, as if she was greatly wronged. "Mr. Coleman, I know many people hate , but now even Mitch"
Damon pulled out his phone and opened a video, interrupting Ariel. "Did you post this video?"
It was a video of Ariel apologizing to . It had gone viral, with many people thinking I had pressured Ariel into apologizing.
Why was he asking about this?
Ariel seed taken aback, sensing sothing was off about Damons attitude. She carefully replied, "It was Nicole who suggested I apologize to Eliana. After all, I did hurt her. I just hoped she could forgive , and we could make peace..."
Her explanation sounded perfect. She shifted the bla to Nicole and kept the good intentions for herself
Damon might be moved by what a kind girl she is!
"Ariel." Damon interrupted Ariel again, his expression as cold as frost. "I told you not to try to hurt her in any way. What are you trying to express with this video? That she hates you, bullies you, so you had to apologize?"
His words left , Luna, and Mitch stunned.
Ariel just stared at him in a daze.
Soon, two lines of tears slid down Ariel’s cheeks. She was full of grievances. "Everything’s my fault, even apologizing is my fault, Mr. Coleman. If you liked Eliana, why did you show interest in in the first place? What’s so good about that you’d help , get close to ? Now that I fell for you, but you’re distancing yourself from , blaming . What should I do?!"
She was still pretending she didn’t know about Catherine.
Damon ignored Ariel’s grievance " Tl release a statent This matter ends here. I hope you don’t bother with such unnecessary troubles in the future. Just wait for the day you can have surgery."
"I understand. I won’t overstep my bounds again" Ariel wiped away her tears, showing a bitter smile, then looked at , as if blaming
I was still imrsed in Damon’s cold bla towards Ariel. What were his feelings towards Ariel? Was it purely because of Catherine’s heart that he kept indulging her?
Catherine was his biggest regret in life, and I understood his inability to let go.
Now the heart that was beating inside Ariel had once loved him.
But why do I feel so desolate at this mont? I didn’t lose to a living person, but to a mory less heart
"Luna, I’m going to leave." I felt a bit suffocated and told Luna before turning around and leaving.
Luna imdiately followed, with Mitch close behind.
In the elevator, Luna was puzzled. "What’s Damon’s deal? Why was he so cold to Ariel? Ariel’s already into him, shouldn’t he be sympathetic?"
I looked at Mitch, who also looked confused. "Ariel has a heart condition, he should be more concerned about her."
I doubted he knew about Ariel’s heart transplant, thus being sowhat clueless about the situation.
Now, besides , Damon, Ariel, and Karen, no one should know the inside story. Even Joshua and Jones I had never told.
This wasn’t sothing I needed to reveal. They would naturally find out when the ti was right.
Just as I exited the hospital, Karen walked up to . The mont she saw , her face subtly changed, showing a hint of repulsion and disgust.
I talked to Harry a couple of days ago, and heard that Karen quit her job to take care of Ariel when she was sick.
I gotta hand it to Karen for being so good to Ariel
"What the hell are you doing here? Here to stress Ariel out again?" Karen asked coldly.
"Eliana, who’s she? "Luna asked with a frown
"An old colleague from when I worked at abroad. Her na’s Karen", I replied
Luna has a good mory, especially for those unpleasant things I’ve ntioned before. She rembers them as if she’s a mo pad, crystal clear.
Karen’s identity, and her current relationship with Ariel, I’m sure Luna rembers it all too clearly
The next second, Luna was giving this look of utter disdain. "Oh, so it’s Ariel’s friend. What a hypocrite!"
"Just because Ariel happens to look like her deceased sister, she acts all high and mighty, putting on this show of being all moral and righteous. If that ain’t a hypocrite then I don’t know what is."
Hearing this, Karen turned red with anger. "Watch your mouth! Don’t think I won’t lay a hand on you because you’re pregnant"
I imdiately stepped in front of Luna, fixing Karen with a cold stare." If you dare lay a finger on her, I can’t promise what will happen to you, Karen. You’re in my territory now."
