After chatting with Harry for a bit, I took over so of Karen’s work. It wasn’t a lot, but it gave a chance to gain so experience.
I couldn’t take on all of Karen’s work though, because I was pregnant and I didn’t want to overwork myself
With more tasks, I beca busier. In the blink of an eye, two days had passed, and Nicholas told he’d found a new place to live
"If you don’t mind. I could still pay rent and live here It might be a bit inconvenient for you living alone now that you’re pregnant, and there’d be no one to look after you’ Nicholas said with a look of concern before he left
"Nicholas, don’t you worry about , I can take care of myself. Besides, your new place is nearby, right? I can ask for your help if I need anything "I was touched by his concern, but I also hoped that Nicholas could let go. After all, I was pregnant, he might not want to step up and play daddy to soone else’s kid
Nicholas sighed, didn’t make it hard for , and just left with his simple luggage.
I have to say, the house was more vibrant with one more person, and after Nicholas left, I felt a little lost facing this suddenly empty room alone. It wasn’t that I missed him so much, but my hormones were all over the place because of the pregnancy, making my emotions more intense, whether it was happiness or sadness.
I pulled myself together, took a bath, went to sleep, and carried on with life as usual.
Luckily, Damon was nowhere to be seen in the next few days. I don’t know if he went back to his country or was staying at Ariel’s
The weekend was coming up, and the expansion departnt sent out a survey full of recreational activities for us to choose from.
The activity with the most votes would be chosen for the departnt’s weekend party, which was basically a team–building activity. Surprisingly, our departnt head even invited Karen, who was an early mber of the expansion departnt and got along well with everyone
Ariel was with Karen
"Eliana" Every ti she saw , Ariel would politely call my na.
I was annoyed and ignored her.
"Eliana, there’s no need to give her the cold shoulder. She’s a polite little girl Karen defended Ariel.
Her words made a few colleagues give a second look. My attitude towards Ariel was obviously off
I didn’t expect Karen and Ariel to beco so close in just a few days. Has Karen started to see Ariel as her deceased sister?
Ariel bit her lip, "It’s okay, Karen. Eliana might just be stressed from work and not in a good mood. I understand."
Her empathetic words made Karen look relieved. I don’t know what she found comforting.
It was a villa party organized by the expansion departnt. After participating in a few gas, I went to the terrace for so peace and quiet.
Like a ghost, Karen appeared behind , "Do you dislike Ariel that much?"
"I don’t have to be bosom buddies with her. I found it absurd."
"My sister used to dislike you too "Karen brought up Catherine again, "She paid the price with her life. Ariel is a lot like her, but she’s more mild–mannered. Sotis I wonder if things would have been different if my sister had been as easy going as her."
"I felt very relieved."
"Stop bringing it up. I told you, I had nothing to do with your sister. I didn’t even know her," I sat on the chair, looking at the distant view, and said. indifferently. "You should tell Ariel that she’s a substitute for your sister, so she can understand how important your sister was to Damon"
Karen was annoyed by my attitude. She said coldly, "I’ve told her that she reminds of my deceased sister, but I won’t tell her about my sister’s past with Damon. I’m not as cruel as you"
"Cruel?" I couldn’t understand, "Just because of soone I didn’t even know, I have to bear these baseless accusations? So now I should jump into a river because I knew about your sister?"
Karen glared at
I’d had enough. I stood up and pointed at her, "Listen, Karen, I’m not the one who ruined your sister and Damon’s relationship, but Ariel is the one who ruined mine with Damon. Enough with the true love crap! If you think Ariel is like your sister, you can worry about her yourself. I’m already being as generous as I can by being willing to divorce Damon and let her take my place. Don’t push to do sothing she can’t handle!"
Just as I finished speaking, Ariel and a few colleagues were standing at the entrance of the terrace with drinks in their hands. She looked shocked, wronged, and embarrassed
Oh, and let’s not forget the tears.
Everyone had heard what I just said and their faces were all awkward.
Ariel turned and ran away. Karen quickly followed after her, turning to to say, "Was that necessary? You and Damon are already divorced! Why are you still targeting her?"
After she said that, she also left to follow Ariel
I laughed, took a bottle of drink from a colleague and said nonchalantly, "See? Ariel stole my ex husband, and i’m supposed to thank her, otherwise I’m the bad guy How interesting"
The expressions on my colleagues’ faces were quite sothing, especially the male ones who were attracted to Ariel’s beauty I wonder how they felt
I left, not caring at all about the gossip. After all, on this matter, Ariel was the one being criticized, not
Because of the trouble between Ariel and , the atmosphere of the activity was quite bad.
I left the villa and headed to my car, planning to go ho.
At that mont, Damon’s car appeared not far away. He got out of the car, his face expressionless.
He didn’t go back to his country, so he must have been staying with Ariel these days.
Karen led Ariel past and went over to Damon. She said sothing to him, and then Ariel began to cry
The world is a funny place Karen used to hate Damon so much. Was she ready to reconcile with him because of Ariel’s arrival?
She looked so worried and busy, like a big sister handing over her beloved little sister to soone else.
As Damon was listening, his gaze suddenly fixed on .
I really hate my superior vision. How could I see the subtle changes in his eyes from this distance?
From indifference to displeasure, then to heartache, it was so annoying to watch.
I got in the car, completely ignoring Damon and the other two, hit the gas and left.
I had just gotten ho when my phone rang. I thought it was Damon calling to stand up for his beloved, but to my surprise, it was Jones.
