"Very well, Mom will take you ho."

Ying Caixia was holding the girl’s body.

The body had a rotting sll, but she didn’t mind at all, holding her daughter tightly in her embrace.

She was afraid that if she let go, just like in the past, she would lose her daughter again.

"Mom will take you ho."

Ying Caixia carried her daughter’s body on her back; Fang Kaisheng wanted to help, but she pushed him away.

"I don’t need your help. I lost her, so I must bring her back myself."

A dead body is particularly heavy. Ying Caixia, a haggard woman, seed to possess endless strength as she firmly walked outside with the body on her back.

Ni Ni’s soul followed beside her, tugging at her clothes, just like when she was little.

This ti she held on tightly, never to be separated from her mother again.

They left, and nobody dared to stop them.

Qin Zhao and the other two quickly followed and said to Ying Caixia, "Are you really going to carry her back like this? I’m afraid you’ll be stopped by the police before you even reach the highway."

"What should I do?"

Ying Caixia stopped in her tracks and looked at her bewilderedly.

"You’ll have to cremate her first and take her ashes back."

"Alright, let’s cremate her first then."

They were at the village entrance, and many people nearby were sneakily watching.

Qin Zhao had them return to the parked car and first placed Ni Ni’s body in the trunk.

"Let’s go to town and buy the things we need for the cremation."

Driving away, the girl’s soul was squatting beside the couple.

Seeing her parents looking so haggard, Ni Ni said, "Mom, Dad, don’t worry about . I’m free now; just take ho.

I don’t like it here; I don’t want to stay here even after death."

"It’s all mom’s fault. If I had kept a closer watch over you, this wouldn’t have happened."

Ying Caixia was overwheld with pain; her daughter was only eighteen, missing since she was ten.

She was still a child herself, at the age when she should have been going to school, living carefree, yet she had to beco soone’s wife at a young age, bearing children for another.

"Mom, don’t be sad; I don’t bla you. It was my own running around that got taken."

They arrived at the nearest town.

It was already dark; they found a place to stay the night.

At night, Ni Ni’s soul stayed with her parents.

The couple didn’t feel scared at all and spent the whole night talking to their daughter.

-

The next day, Fang Kaisheng went to buy a cremation urn and other necessary items at a store that sold funeral supplies.

Fang Kaisheng had been gone for a long ti.

After half an hour,

Qin Zhao and Chu Yan just left the place they were staying when Nan Xian suddenly ran over from a distance.

"Zhaozhao, there’s been a murder! Fang Kaisheng killed that old woman."

"Which old woman?"

Nan Xian stopped, gasping for breath, and said, "The old woman and her son from yesterday ca to town today, apparently looking to buy a wife.

Fang Kaisheng secretly followed them, then axed the old woman to death. Her son and that human trafficker were also slashed and are barely alive.

I was passing by and saw a crowd there; I helped Fang Kaisheng escape first."

Qin Zhao was stunned, not expecting such a thing to happen.

She had intended to contact the local police today to report the family involved in trafficking won.

"Where did he run off to? What about Ying Caixia?"

"Ying Caixia is at the town entrance parking square, she’s cleaning Ni Ni’s body. Fang Kaisheng ran towards the mountains. I asked Ni Ni’s soul to follow him so he doesn’t encounter any wild animals."

Qin Zhao and Chu Yan hurried with Nan Xian to the scene of the cri.

The local police had already arrived, sealing off the area.

Chu Yan told Qin Zhao, "The fact they dared to co here to buy a wife shows that the local trafficking network is still active. I’ll negotiate with the local governnt to handle this matter."

As for Fang Kaisheng and his wife, they were from out of town, and it was not easy for the police to trace them. "You take them to the mountains to hide for a while."

"You alone here?"

Chu Yan nodded. "After I finish the task, I’ll call you to pick up."

"Alright, let’s leave it at that."

Chu Yan’s plan was the best solution.

The three people Fang Kaisheng had killed were no good people, and Qin Zhao had no intention of turning him over to the police.

By the ti they arrived, the old woman’s son and the trafficker had already been taken to the hospital.

It was several hours’ journey from the mountains to the big hospital; by the ti they reached there, those two would have probably breathed their last.

Qin Zhao took Ying Caixia and left first, having her contact Fang Kaisheng.

Ni Ni’s soul led them and helped them find Fang Kaisheng’s hiding place, then prepared to take Fang Kaisheng away from the small mountain town.

"You guys go first."

Qin Zhao got out from the passenger side and told the others.

"Master, you help them cremate the bodies and then send them back, I’ll go find Chu Yan."

"Ah?" Nan Xian was confused. "But I don’t know the way."

"Shangguan knows the way, just let her drive."

Nan Xian would have liked to stay with Qin Zhao, but if they didn’t quickly take Fang Kaisheng away, the local police would surely trace Fang Kaisheng and his wife.

"Then be careful, give a call once you’re done."

"Got it."

Qin Zhao left on the Sword Control and returned to the entrance of the small town.

Chu Yan had already made contact with the town governnt and was there as a guest at that mont.

Additionally, he had contacted governnt officials from the city, asking them to call the local authorities explaining that he was an investigator dispatched from Imperial City.

Lu Tingming had been involved in multiple elections, holding an extraordinary position in the political world.

Having worked by his side for years, Chu Yan easily beca an honored guest of the town governnt since many influential people recognized him.

The street chopping incident had a significant impact locally; once Chu Yan stepped in, the governnt gave greater attention to the case and followed the lead of the traffickers.

Following the trail, they caught many traffickers and learned the whereabouts of so of the abducted individuals from them, and the related staff initiated rescue operations.

Of course, this occurred many days later.

On the day the incident happened, when Chu Yan left the town governnt, it was already dusk.

He contemplated whether to stay behind to supervise their investigation of the abduction or to contact Qin Zhao first.

The thought flashed through his mind.

Chu Yan realized it and paused for a mont.

Then, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

He didn’t know when he had started to ddle in such matters.

If it had been the earlier him, even if a trafficker abducted soone right in front of him, he could remain indifferent.

He disliked wasting energy on matters unrelated to himself.

Others studied dicine to save lives and help the injured, but he felt that studying dicine could better help him kill and earn Lu Tingming’s trust and support.

From beginning to end, he was a cold-hearted and callous person, even lacking the most basic ability to empathize.

But thinking that doing so would make Qin Zhao happy made him want to do it.

"Chu Yan."

A familiar voice ca from the door.

He looked up and saw Qin Zhao standing there.

"Why have you co back?"

"I ca to find you."

"Didn’t I tell you to leave first and wait for to finish my work before contacting you to co?"

"I asked them to go ahead. Can’t I be with you?"

"You want to be with ?"

The horizon was filled with red glows; the pink clouds were fiery and misty, and the chilly dusk seed to gain a touch of warmth.

She reached out and took his hand. "Yes, I want to be with you."
