Qin Zhao returned after distributing the Wealth Attraction Talisman and found Chu Yan packing up in her room.

Originally, he had moved his clothes and personal belongings into her room, but now he was moving everything back to the guest room.

"What are you doing?"

"I think it’s better if we sleep in separate rooms."

Chu Yan said seriously, "During the New Year’s period, the hospital is short-staffed, and I will often need to work overti unexpectedly. If we sleep together, my getting up might disturb you."

"Oh." Qin Zhao didn’t see it as a problem; after all, last night, on New Year’s Eve, he had been called to the hospital by a phone call. Saving lives was an urgent matter that couldn’t be delayed.

When she ca back, Qin Zhao had bought a lot of good ingredients, hoping that Chu Yan would take the initiative to cook, so they could make up. However, after tidying up the room, Chu Yan left and did not return for a long ti.

Initially, she thought he was just being sulky about cooking lunch, but he still hadn’t cooked dinner either.

Qin Zhao stared at the ingredients in the fridge, feeling inexplicably irritable.

She wanted to call Chu Yan to ask what he was doing, but she hesitated, not wanting to seem too concerned, as if she couldn’t survive without him.

By seven in the evening, Chu Yan still hadn’t returned.

Qin Zhao looked up several recipes online, prepared to cook by herself.

"Why doesn’t it taste like what I imagined?"

Qin Zhao looked at the food in front of her, frowning.

That guy’s cooking skills were comparable to a five-star hotel chef. Having beco accustod to his ticulously prepared dishes every day, Qin Zhao had beco quite picky; even her own cooking didn’t appeal to her now.

anwhile, Chu Yan hadn’t been running around that afternoon; he had just gone to the hospital.

His blood test results hadn’t co back yet, so he could neither operate on patients nor consult, and he could only sit in his office, contemplating life.

If it had been before, he wouldn’t have cared if he had contracted AIDS.

He had returned to the Lu Family and gained Lu Tingming’s trust solely to avenge his mother. As long as he had his revenge, his own life or death didn’t matter much.

But now, he had soone very important to take care of.

For the first ti, Chu Yan realized how much he feared death. It wasn’t the fear of his own demise, but the concern that she might not manage well alone.

Qin Zhao was so picky, always wanting to eat the best, and she had a super-eager-to-eat snake. What would happen if his inheritance was exhausted by them?

Without soone cooking at ho, they would only be able to go out for expensive als. Considering the appetites of Qin Zhao and Tengshe, a al at a pricey five-star restaurant would cost them hundreds of thousands.

But Qin Zhao could still live well without him, which made him a bit unwilling.

It seed like he wasn’t that important to her.

Would Qin Zhao miss him if he died?

Could he follow Qin Zhao every day if he beca a ghost?

Chu Yan thought a lot and realized that he still didn’t want to die, especially not in such a way that might make Qin Zhao think he was fooling around outside.

And how could he have children with Qin Zhao if he beca a ghost?

Suddenly, Chu Yan stood up from his seat and made another trip to the infectious disease departnt. He urged the doctors there to arrange his blood test as soon as possible.

If he really was unfortunate to be infected, he would do his best to get treated!

By the ti he realized, it was already very late.

When he got ho, Qin Zhao was dismantling the dishwasher.

"Was the hospital busy today? Have you eaten?"

Qin Zhao turned to look at him and noticed he was still in his lab coat, holding a pile of folders filled with literature on AIDS.

"I have eaten."

Chu Yan quickly replied and hurried into his study.

With a bang, he closed the door.

"..."

Qin Zhao looked at the utility knife in her hand, irritably slashing at the cardboard box, feeling that since yesterday, Chu Yan, that scoundrel, had been particularly dismissive of her. Had he ever dared to treat her with such an attitude before?

After a few days, this feeling in Qin Zhao’s heart had grown even stronger.

Chu Yan had moved back into the guest room that day, claiming that he might need to suddenly go to the hospital for overti, but he hadn’t been to the hospital at night for a while.

When he ca ho at night, he either went to his own room or to the study, barely speaking to Qin Zhao.

They hadn’t had a al together for several days, nor had they communicated much.

The Chu Yan of the past, as long as he had a bit of free ti, couldn’t wait to cling to Qin Zhao, wanting kisses and hugs; the stark contrast now suddenly made Qin Zhao a bit uncomfortable.

"Could he have gotten a mistress?"

Qin Zhao felt it was unlikely in her heart; Chu Yan didn’t seem like a person who would go seducing others.

But then she thought again, it wasn’t impossible.

n, unpredictable and ever-changing.

And this Chu Yan, such a false innocent white lotus, who knew how much sincerity was mixed in his previous kindness to her.

Or perhaps, he was doing sothing bad behind her back, which is why he was ignoring her these past few days, afraid that she’d discover sothing?

Qin Zhao sliced so fruit and pushed open the door to the study.

"Are you working? Would you like so fruit?"

Seeing her co in, Chu Yan quickly closed his laptop and gathered up the docunts on his desk. He didn’t want Qin Zhao to know about it, to avoid any misunderstandings.

However, his actions were enough to make Qin Zhao feel suspicious.

"Thank you, Zhaozhao."

Chu Yan was sowhat taken aback to see Qin Zhao actually feeding him fruit.

"We are husband and wife; why so formal?"

Qin Zhao’s lips curled into a smile, but her eyes did not mirror the happiness; she still felt like smashing him. He had just closed his laptop when she ca in; surely he hadn’t been chatting with so woman from outside?

If that were the case, she would undoubtedly give him a castration-surprise package.

Ha, if she didn’t want him, no one else could have him!

Chu Yan, noticing her sudden tenderness and care, felt vaguely frightened inside.

"I...I still have work; can you go outside?"

Qin Zhao looked at him "sympathetically" and reached to open the laptop.

"Are you that busy? Is there anything I can help with?"

"You’re not trained in dicine; you can’t help!"

Chu Yan pressed his hand down on the laptop.

With a cold peach-blossom gaze slightly squinted, Qin Zhao lowered her head near him and slowly said, "When will you be finished? I see you haven’t been taking night shifts these past few days; why don’t you co sleep in my room tonight?"

If it had been before, Chu Yan might have been thrilled. But now, he totally didn’t dare to sleep in the sa room as Qin Zhao.

What if he really got infected; wouldn’t that harm Qin Zhao? Usually, he tried to avoid contact with Qin Zhao as much as possible.

"Tonight..."

Chu Yan stared at the beautiful face so close to him, her body still radiating that pleasant fragrance.

His Adam’s apple involuntarily moved, and he continued with difficulty, "I have to work overti at ho tonight. I need to get through all these docunts."

"I see."

Qin Zhao looked disappointed, though her eyes remained cold, "Then give a kiss, and I’ll leave you alone."

"No! Stop bothering !"

Chu Yan pushed Qin Zhao away, his face cold and celibate, unfazed by won, sitting up straight, though the tips of his ears were still slightly red.
