Darius clutched his arm with his grin gone, his eyes were haunted. Kelvin’s hands trembled, his body aching, but pride swelled in his chest, a spark of defiance was reignited.

"We are still here," he said with his voice hoarse and the whispers fading. Lyra nodded with her eyes fierce despite the pain. "Together." Darius leaned on Rhoam, his voice quiet as he said. "Barely."

They searched the panthers’ remains and searched for loot: a handful of beast cores, their surfaces pulsing with faint soulstream energy, and a chunk of enchanted ore, its tallic sheen laced with dark runes.

"Split it evenly," Kelvin said, dividing the cores among them for their gear and giving Darius the ore to reinforce Rhoam’s armor. The act was a small gesture of unity, a reminder that they had survived another trial together.

The monitoring device flickered back to life, its ssage was weak but clear: "Rogue activity is neutralized. Return to Sanctum. Report unknown energy."

The words were a lifeline, but the ntion of unknown energy was a warning, the cloaked figure’s presence lingered, which was a shadow that refused to fade.

They camped that night in a shallow cave with the wind carrying the Peaks’ mournful cries. Kelvin lit a fire with Xerion’s breath, the End-Tyrant’s flas casted a warm glow that pushed back the darkness.

Lyra tended to her wounds, using her runes to seal the worst of the damage, though the pain lingered in her eyes.

Darius bandaged his arm, his humor was gone at this point, his silence was heavy as he fed Rhoam a chunk of dried at, the panther’s iron plates clinked softly.

"That fight... it broke ," Darius admitted, his voice was barely a whisper, his eyes were fixed on the fire. "I saw my village burning, my family were gone. I thought we were done."

The next morning Lyra limped to Kelvin’s left hand side, her silver braids were touched with sweat and blood, her shadow-etched gauntlet were flickering with runes that struggled to maintain their glow.

Salaris, with her shadow-cloaked raptor, flickered at her side and her iridescent feathers were dulled by dust and blood, her talons clicked faintly on the stone.

Lyra’s green eyes were sharp but shadowed by pain, which stared ahead, her chest and side wounds bandaged but seeping and each step a grimace of effort.

"This storm is getting worse," she said, her voice was hoarse, barely audible over the wind’s howl and the distant rumble of thunder. "It is like the Peaks are fighting us."

Kelvin nodded, his jaw clenching. "It’s the Veil’s influence. It knows we’re weak." Darius moved on his right, his eyes were dulled by exhaustion and pain.

Rhoam, his iron-plated panther, lumbered behind, his massive paws were dragging with his iron plates clinking dully, scratched and dented from the panther attack.

Darius clutched a soulstone and its green glow faint in his trembling hand, his usual grin was replaced by a tight-lipped grimace.

"Weak is an understatent," he muttered, although his voice was rough, the scratches on his arm and leg was slowing his pace. "These mountains want us dead but we are not going to die."

Kelvin managed a faint smile, Darius’s grim humor was a spark against the oppressive gloom. "They will have to try harder," he said, though the weight of their injuries and the rift’s battle pressed down like the storm above. "We are almost out."

The monitoring device in Kelvin’s pack humd weakly, its runes flickering erratically: "Signal disrupted. Storm amplifying interference. Seek shelter."

The Sanctum’s watchful eyes were fading, the device was faltering signal as a stark reminder of their isolation. The ntion of the storm’s interference sent a chill down Kelvin’s spine, echoing the cloaked figure’s lingering presence.

They had been descending for hours, the path beca treacherous, the storm’s winds was whipping husk and debris across their faces.

The flashbacks of their training in the Sanctum’s yard were filled with Kelvin’s mind, grueling sessions after the Hollow, where they had pushed their limits to prepare for this trial.

He had ditated with Xerion, their bonds were deepening as he visualized their synchronizing ratio climbing, the End-Tyrant’s flas burned brighter.

Lyra had crafted advanced shadow runes, her gauntlet wove bindings that held even the strongest rogue beasts. Darius had honed his soulstone blasts, his aim were deadly precise, for Rhoam’s charges to synchronize seamlessly.

But the rift’s battle and the panther ambush had shaken them, their injuries were a reminder of their fragility, and the cloaked figure’s challenge lood like a storm on the horizon.

"We have faced worse," Lyra said, her voice was steady despite the pain in her eyes. "We sealed the rift and we can make it back."

Kelvin nodded, drawing strength from her resolve, but doubt gnawed at him. "We need to stay together. The Veil is not done with us."

The path was narrowed into a rocky ravine, the cliffs closing in like the jaws of a trap, the storm’s rained lashing down in sheets, turning the ground to mud.

They paused to rest under an overhang, their beasts also settled nearby with Xerion coiling into a protective ring and his flas casted a dim glow; Salaris perched on a ledge and her feathers blended with the shadows; Rhoam sprawling across the ground, his iron plates gleaming faintly in the rain.

Kelvin pulled out the monitoring device, its holographic display flickering weakly, showing their silhouettes alongside Xerion’s serpentine form, Salaris’s sleek outline, and Rhoam’s hulking shape.

A new ssage scrolled across: "Rogue beast activity detected. Seek imdiate shelter." His heart sank, the warning a cold confirmation of the Peaks’ unrelenting dangers.

Before he could speak, a bone-rattling roar shook the ravine, followed by the thunder of massive footsteps and the crack of shattering stone. "Form up!" Kelvin shouted, Xerion rearing, his flas was ignited in a blazing arc that lit the rain-soaked ravine.

A rogue behemoth burst from the storm, a colossal creature, its hide was thick with blackened scales, its horns were curved and glowing with dark energy, its eyes blazing like twin suns.

Its massive limbs shook the ground, and its roar sent rocks tumbling from the cliffs above. Kelvin channeled a fire Convergence through Xerion, the End-Tyrant’s flas sweeping through the ravine, searing the behemoth’s hide in a burst of light.
