Hua Ren thought about it for so seconds. "Let it be Lu Wen. He’s a much greater threat than Pei Lian. He’s the brain behind whatever Pei Lian does. He’s too calm and extrely hard to provoke which makes him unpredictable. I’ve never been able to tell what he’s up to."

Sheng Fei nodded. "Lu Wen it is. I’ll inform my team to get started on it when I leave."

"When you leave?" Hua Ren asked, raising a brow. "Shouldn’t you leave now? We’re done discussing the plan."

Sheng Fei chuckled, his voice low and teasing as his hand traced slow, deliberate circles along Hua Ren’s waist. “You didn’t think I ca all the way here just to discuss the plan, did you?”

Hua Ren felt his cheeks flush pink, the warmth spreading rapidly to the tips of his ears. The sensation of Sheng Fei’s touch was overwhelming, making his knees buckle slightly and his heart race.

He wondered, was the mate bond that strong? How could the man he t so weeks ago make him feel this way with just a few touches when the touch of the man he loved for years made his skin crawl? Was this what it ant to be mates? Was this how he would feel for the rest of his life?

Hua Ren pressed his hands against Sheng Fei’s broad chest, trying to put so distance between them but his arms felt weak. Like he was sapped of all his strength. His gaze lifted hesitantly, turning into a scowl the second he saw the smug look on Sheng Fei’s face.

"Let. . Go." He commanded through gritted teeth but Sheng Fei’s smirk only deepened, his hand slipping lower as he leaned closer.

“And why should I let you go?” he murmured, his breath warm against Hua Ren’s ear. His body pressed against Hua Ren’s, the contact igniting sparks of heat between them. Sheng Fei shifted, rubbing his arousal against Hua Ren’s thigh as his voice dropped into a husky whisper. “See what you do to , General. Aren’t you going to take responsibility?"

A sharp gasp escaped Hua Ren’s lips as he felt the undeniable heat and size of Sheng Fei’s arousal pressing into him. The sheer girth and length of it made his breath hitch, his body freezing imdiately, yet, tingling with sensation. Sheng Fei’s pheromones, a seductive combination of sage and musk invaded his senses, intoxicating and grounding all at once. A slow burn ignited deep within him, not just in front but also behind which had him clenching his perky butt.

His heart pounded furiously in his chest as he inhaled Sheng Fei’s pheromones deeply. The sage scent wrapped around him, soothing and inflaming him all at once. He felt so hot, and his insides were incredibly itchy. He began to panic, struggling like a little cat to escape Sheng Fei’s embrace for he had never felt such a way before.

A sudden knock on the door broke through the charged atmosphere, jolting them both. Hua Ren quickly used the opportunity to pee himself off Sheng Fei, putting a large distance between them as he tried to regain his composure. He was breathing hard and his entire body was burning.

“General Hua Ren?” ca a voice from the other side of the door. “A Prince Rowan is waiting for you in the living room.”

Hua Ren just mumbled a reply, saying he would be there soon. The servant hesitated for a mont before retreating, their footsteps fading into the hallway.

“Prince Rowan?” Sheng Fei said, his tone sharp for he wondered what the pervy Prince of the Lioncrest Kingdom wanted with his mate.

Hua Ren nodded, turning towards the wall to hide his flushed face. "We’re to investigate together." He explained. "You know we t him last night so he told the Emperor about our fake identities. Lim Kang and Lim Sa Yu. rchants of the Ironwall Kingdom. Imagine, I’m supposed to help him find them.”

Sheng Fei’s perfectly arched brows went up in surprise. "So he suspects that we’re rebels?"

Hua Ren nodded again. His hand went to the collar of his robes, loosening them a bit. His clothes suddenly felt too tight and his head cloudy. Sheng Fei’s pheromones were everywhere and it was driving him insane. His heart kept racing and no matter what he did, he couldn’t calm down. Instead. It was getting worse.

"Okay. So, what does he want?" Sheng Fei asked, oblivious to Hua Ren’s situation. "Why would he participate in an investigation that does not concern him? This is a matter of our Kingdom. Not his."

"W-Well," Hua Ren stuttered. He groaned slightly, shaking his head to clear his vision and clearing his throat before continuing. "He told the Emperor that once we conclude the investigation and find the couple who posed as rchants, he wants the oga. He wants Lim Sa Yu... which is... .”

For a mont, the room fell silent and Sheng Fei’s eyes darkened. Prince Rowan wanted his mate? Why did everyone want his mate? First it’s the Emperor and now, it’s a Prince of a foreign land.

He exhaled slowly, taking a few steps towards Hua Ren who had leaned against the cool wall, using the temperature of the wall to try to reduce the imnse heat he was feeling. He couldn’t understand. Why was he burning up so much? He was fine so monts ago.

He groaned again when he felt Sheng Fei’s presence right behind him. "C-Could you stop releasing your pheromones for a bit?" He said, pasting his body harder against the wall. "I-I feel weird and I can hardly concentrate on anything."

Sheng Fei was surprised. He hadn’t released his pheromones since he ca inside. He didn’t want to risk releasing them and alarming the guards. So what was Hua Ren talking about?

"Are you okay?" He asked, placing a hand on Hua Ren’s good shoulder to which Hua Ren whimpered. The simple touch had his knees buckling and Sheng Fei had to hold him up by the waist to stop him from falling.

"What is happening to ?" Hua Ren breathed, confused. He turned and wrapped his arms around Sheng Fei’s neck, burying his face in the crook of Sheng Fei’s neck where he could directly sll his pheromones. "I feel so hot. Everything inside is burning and... and I keep wanting to sll you. What did you do to ? Why am I like this?"
