Kraven’s palm tapped against his lap like an answer to her question.
The realization struck Isadora hard, her cheeks burning as her wide eyes descended on his lap. ’He can’t be serious.’
She lifted her gaze back to him and even though he was smirking he looked damn serious.
Isadora’s breath caught as she stepped back in panic, her cheeks warming up more and her head on the verge of exploding at the idea of doing sothing so embarrassing in front of everyone.
There was no way in the seven gods’ na she’d do that. She’d rather run away!
Kraven’s smirk instantly vanished at her actions. The look in her eyes was obvious about what she wanted to do.
His expression darkened as his jaw clenched in a tight hold, as in a heartbeat, he grabbed her hand, using the other to lift her effortlessly onto his lap before she could protest.
His strong arms locked around her like steel, his lips grazing her ear like a warning, causing goosebumps to Isadora’s skin.
"Now, be a good girl for and behave."
A hot chill shot up Isadora’s spine as he brought her closer to his massive fra. She didn’t dare to look at the others because of the embarrassnt burning through her body.
’They can all see!’
"This eting is important, pay attention." He leaned back on his throne, giving Isadora a little breathing space, but the situation did not change for the better.
She would liquefy in any minute.
"Let’s begin," Kraven announced to the others.
"Kraven," Rav began, as his jaw clenched. "Isadora shouldn’t be here." He pinned Isadora with his heated gaze which made her nerves skyrocket.
It was almost like he was ntally willing her to get down from there.
Isadora attempted to move away but Kraven held her firm, like her spot was imprinted against him.
Kraven pinned Rav with a dangerous look, causing the pressure in the air to tightened.
He hadn’t said any word but his murderous glare spoke volus and he wasn’t about to resort to sothing as useless as speaking.
Rav opened his mouth to speak again but he was suddenly cut off.
"I think Lord Raven has already ntioned Isadora’s position to the Court." Logi’s words grabbed their attention.
"This is her debut. Her presence is welcod," Logi added, reclining on his seat, with legs up the table.
He shot Rav a look that said ’Don’t interfere’ a reminder of their wager.
However, Rav was hesitant, it was at the tip of his tongue to question and stop this. Isadora didn’t want this and yet Kraven forced her against her will.
But he knew Kraven wouldn’t back down easily, so he sighed in defeat and sat back down. ’Forgive , Isadora.’
Rav’s eyes veered to the bold display—Isadora in his arms, the blush burning her cheeks. He couldn’t tell if she was afraid or just embarrassed. Whatever it was... he disliked it. His heart tugged at the thought as he forced his eyes away.
What was Kraven trying to prove?
"If any of you have anything else to say or question, speak up," Kraven mused, loving the silence he got in return.
He rely relished the expression morphed on Rav’s face. Utter defeat.
"Ekko, begin for us, make my intentions clear."
"By my master’s orders, I investigated the Serpents."
"Serpents?" Logi asked with a raised eyebrow. "The famous Huntsn of the Realm who got on your bad side?"
"They’d been a nuisance to us during our five winter’s journey," Rav said, trying to stay composed and focus on the eting at hand. Refusing to look back at the throne.
"We couldn’t eliminate them because their leader, Aric, has a special ability to possess bodies, it was hard to track him down."
"I’ve got to hand it to you, Kraven, in a span of five winters you got on the top wanted list of a dangerous Order." Logi scoffed. "I’m sure if I’d gone with you... it wouldn’t have been like this."
"We’re not here to rant about what ifs," Nyssa said, turning her gaze to the throne, her eyes mostly glaring at Isadora. "I’m sure you called us here because you got a plan to eliminate this threat."
Isadora shifted uncomfortably, leaning forward to get off because her body couldn’t take any more of this but Kraven wasn’t having any of it.
Kraven’s hand clamped down on her thigh, causing Isadora to freeze at the contact. He leaned in and murmured. "Careful, love, I suggest you behave or else it won’t be my lap you’d be worried about but my face."
Isadora gulped as heat found its way to her core. It shouldn’t have stirred these sinful thrills, but it did, dragging back a mory she’d been trying hard to forget.
The mory of him on his knees.
"Yes Nyssa, for once you and I agree on sothing. Ekko was able to find out that the Serpents’ works for the Five Courts. The bounty on my head wasn’t a re coincidence because of my reputation."
Rav’s body stiffened at his words, it made sense why they were persistent for a re bounty.
Yes, Kraven as the Reaper of the Raven Court, a persona that ca out of nowhere instilling fear in the hearts of the society was ant to be hunted down.
But Aric was overly keen, unlike other Huntsn.
"If they’ve Aric under their grasp, could it be that they know?" Rav asked, not willing to dive further because of Isadora’s presence.
The rest of them knew this too and followed through.
"Not entirely. However, they heard rumors of a Fae from the imposter court they had spent years trying to figure out. This particular Fae gained the nickna Reaper... I’m sure they put two and two together," Logi said.
"The Reaper equals the ruler of the Raven Court" Logi added with a smirk. "They took an opportunity to rid the Court of its leader. Using the Serpents as their puppets."
